Paragliding Adventure Weekend Tour package - Itinerary

Day 01 - Delhi/Chandigarh Drive to Bir - Billing 

Option-1 ( Drive from Delhi/Chandigarh to Mcleodganj)

Day one will be spent on the drive to Bir from Delhi or Chandigarh, if you are starting from Delhi, we need to start a bit early at around 5 AM, so that we can cross the plains of Haryana and Punjab ( Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Chandigarh) well before noon. Chandigarh is about 4.5 hours drive from Delhi ( if there is no traffic jams), the scenic route starts from Anandpur Sahib which is approx 2 hours from chandigarh, the Shivalik ranges are visible with Mata Naina Devi temple on the mountain top, we cross  canals of Bhakhra Nangal and cross Nangal Dam to enter Himachal Pradesh ( the Dev Bhoomi). Dharamshala is about 4.5 hours further drive from Mehatpur border in Himachal.

We cross Una Himachal, Amb and take a afternoon break at Bombay Picnic spot. After Bombay picnic spot, The real scenic route starts, we pass by dense forests, hills and  keep driving, crossing Jwalamukhi in  Kangra Valley. We stop for photo shoots at the Beas river bridge. Once we are in Kangra, we start seeing the mighty Dhauladhar ranges and snow lines.

We reach Palampur at about 4.30 PM. After a Brief Tea Break, we proceed to Bir - Billing through Baijnath.

Reach Bir by 6 PM, Checkin to the Resort and spend time at your leisure.

Mcleod Ganj has numerous restaurants offering Indian as well as international cuisines.Vegetarians can go to Lung Ta on Jogibara Road serving Japanese food. Tibetan snacks like momos, thupkas and tingmo can be found at some restaurants on Jogibara Road. Again, for Chinese, Continental and Indian cuisines, tourists can go to Jogibara Road. Tsuglagkhang- Don't worry if you find it difficult to pronounce the name properly, you will learn it once you reach there.Tsuglagkhang is the abode of His Holiness Dalai Lama. This complex houses Namgyal Monastery where thousends of pilgrims offer prayers. The most unique feature of this monastery is it's diversity of practise. It also houses 3 metre high bronze statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, Valokitesvara and Padmasambhava.Situated next to the Tsuglagkhang Temple, the Kalachakra Temple is open to the public. The Dalai Lama uses this temple as his base for public teaching. 

St. John's Church - St. John in the Wilderness is an Anglican church dedicated to John the Baptist built in 1852, located near Dharamshala, India, on the way to McLeodGanj, at Forsyth Gunj. Set amidst deodar forest, and built in neo-Gothic architecture, the church is known for its Belgian stained-glass windows donated by Lady Elgin (Mary Louisa Lambton), wife of Lord Elgin.

 

 

 

Bhagsunag Waterfall - Situated at a walking distance of 2 Kms from Mcleodganj,  Around 0.5 km from the waterfall stands the Bhagsunath temple and the waterfall is revered by devotees who throng the temple.Bhagsunag Waterfall is at its pristine glory during monsoon. The view of unsullied water gushing out of the waterfall and the mist emanating from the fall about 20 feet is indeed a delightfull experience.It is a marvelous location to live with nature enjoying the Himalayan serene nature and rejuvenating soft but cool breeze.

 

 

 

Dal Lake -  Situated at a height of 1775m above sea-level,it is about 2 km away from Mcleodganj. Nestling amidst lush green forests of deodar trees, the Dal Lake is famous for its scenic beauty and pilgrimage center.The area around Dal Lake is a natural paradise.

 

 

 

Tibet Museum-Tibet Museum is located inside the Tsuglagkhang Complex in Mcleodganj (5km), Dharamsala. The museum has the credit of being the first modern Museum in Dharamsala. Settled in a huge plinth area, the museum has separate places for meeting, exhibitions and displays.

Other Adventure Activities in Region

Kangra Valley is an ideal destination for adventurous enthusiasts as the town offers plenty of activities that one can enjoy here. Some of the adventurous activities in Dharamshala include trekking, paragliding, fishing, rock climbing and angling. 

If you are not an adventurous person by nature, you can explore this picturesque town by going for leisure walks in the lap of Himalayas. Trekker’s delight, Dharamshala is a popular base for trekking in the forested Dhauladhar range, equipment can be hired here. The best season for trekking is from April till June and again between September and October. 
 

Seasoned trekkers may try the exhilarating and adventurous stretch from Dharamshala to the Chamba valley, over the Indrahar Pass. Trekkers may also take the route through snowbound Dhauladhar Range terminating at Lamu. 
There are some easy treks as well for beginners including the McLeodganj and Dharamshala that stretches from Tang Narwana to Toral Pass. If you are a hard-core trekker then take the route through Bhagsu via Dharamkot to Triund and enjoy an exquisite view of the peaks of the Himalayas.

Rock climbing is another activity in Dharamshala that you can indulge in a remote part of the Himalayas. Dharamshala-Nayagraon is one of the popular tracks for rock climbing. 
 

You can spendyour  time in the lap of nature and enjoy  fishing and angling in the small streams and rivers around Dharamshala. The 20-km stretch in River Beas from Nadaun to the Pong Dam is popular for fishing.
