Day 1: Arrival in Shimla
Getting to Shimla is fairly easy than before as there are many direct flights to Shimla from most of the metro cities in India. Arrive at Shimla airport and hire a taxi to the main city. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. Take some rest. Once you are settled in your hotel, do not waste a minute and head directly to explore the popular attractions in Shimla.
Mall Road is the main street in Shimla with all the shops and restaurants lined up in a row. Visit some of the most popular places near Mall Road including the oldest church in North India, Kali Bari temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, Sankat Mochan and Jakhu Temple. In the evening, return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Have breakfast and head out to explore your second day in Shimla by visiting Kufri, India's one of the best holiday paradises. This beautiful place is a tourist hotspot full of awesome scenic and sports activities.

Bhagsunag Fall is located about 2 km away from McLeodganj and is the best to visit while on a trek, although you can take a cab to Bhagsu village. The surging waterfall, about 20 metres in height, is an absolute marvel to look at, especially during the monsoons.

The Mall and the Ridge Road in Shimla

On the east side of the Ridge road is the lakkar Bazar. Lakkar Bazar is the market where you can get all types wooden craft items and materials Lakkar Bazaar is popular for its wood crafts.

Wild Flower Hall
Wildflower Hall is the most beautiful heritage Resort of Oberoi Group, at 8250 feet above sea level and visible from great distances amidst Virgin woods of cedar and pine. It served as residence of Lord Kitchener. Now the same building is a luxury resort with magnificent and striking architecture. Wild Flower Hall is visible from all over shimla, from the distance it looks like Gothic Canopy emerging out of the green forest. Jakhoo Hill
Jakhoo Hill is at an altitude of about 2455 m above sea level and is the highest peak in shimla offering great views. There is an ancient Lord Hanuman temple at the top of the Jakhoo hill and can be easily reached from Ridge near Church by walking for at most an hour. The walk to the temple is through the dense forests of Deodar trees but the climb is very tiresome if one is not used to it.
There are many misbehaving monkeys in Jakhoo Hill, over the years these simians have become very smart and clever. Their whole intention is to get the food stuff from tourists.
Never Wear Glasses in Jakhu Hill
Monkeys usually snatch sunglasses or spectacles, they do it so fast and aggressive that tourists cannot even react. They will jump on you, take away your glasses and ride above the tree. Now the only way to get back same is offering food or fruit bribe to monkeys. Hence always keep your glasses in your pocket.
Never Carry a Bag in your hand - Shoulder or back bag is preferred.
If you are carrying a bag in your hand, 100% chances are there of being snatched away by monkeys, prefer shoulder bag or back bag.
Annandale
Annandale is the flat terrain/Ground in Shimla located at about 2-4 kilometers away from the Ridge and has been developed as the playground of the city. Annandale is currently maintained by Indian Airforce, who uses it as a forward helipad. However Annandale is a clear tourist attraction and becoming favorite spot for playing Cricket matches, having family Picnics, Golf and Polo etc. This is the highest point and is quite rewarding as you can get the best views of the city and its surroundings.
Kali Bari Temple or Shyamala Mata Temple
Kali Bari temple is situated near to The Mall and its 5 minutes walk from The Mall. The temple is dedicated to Shyamala Devi (Shimla is named after this goddess), an incarnation of Goddess Kali. Temple faces heavy rush during Diwali and Durga Puja as many Bengalis tourists from Kolkata visit this temple.
Viceregal Lodge & Botanical Gardens:
On the Observatory Hills is located Viceregal Lodge, which is also known as "Rashtrapati Niwas". This magnificent building was the residence of the British Viceroy Lord Duffer in. This lodge was completed in 1888 and it is said that every brick for the building was carried by mules. This is a six-story building and is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and lawns. The lodge has now been converted into Institute of Advanced Study and is further 2-km from State Museum.
