Around 100 years ago, a well-known English poet Rudyard Kipling called Spiti “a world within a world” and a “place where the gods live” – a description that is undoubtedly true and will remain so for all time. Kaza is not only known for its heaven-like view but also for its colorful festivals. Owing to the central location of Kaza, it is also considered as a perfect place for trekking and mountaineering. The experience of the festivals, stark beauty and high mountains of Kaza lingers on as the most pleasant thing in the hearts and minds of the tourists for all time.
The nearest airports are at Kullu (Bhuntar, 250 km away) and Shimla (445 km). Kaza can be approached by road from Shimla (May to October) and from Manali (200 km) via Kuzam Pass (June to October).
Kaza is known as a cold dessert and doesn’t receive any rainfall. In winters, the temperature is dry and cold, so heavy woolens are recommended. In summers, the weather remains pleasant, so light woolens or cottons are required.
