Khajjiar Lake: Khajjiar Lake is situated in Khajjiar, in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated at a height of around 1,920 m above sea level between Dalhousie and Chamba Town. Panch Pandav Tree: The Panch Pandav Tree is a very popular tree located on the ground of Khajjiar and famous for its shoots. This tree is located near a rest house while moving towards Khajjiar School. The main root of the tree is static and there are five shoots branching out from the tree.

Rahalla Falls: Rahala waterfalls are an after effect of the dribbling of water from precipitous rocks and imposing glaciers. It exhibits the exceptional beauty of the environment around. The entire area is bounded with the thick deodar forest, and lofty birch trees, which creates an unspoiled and pungent atmosphere. Vashisht Temple Manali: Vashisht village is a green patch of steep hill hanging at the base on a cliff. The village is 6 km from Manali at the banks of the Beas River opposite Old Manali. The village of Vashisht was named after Rishi Vashisht one of the seven sages of Hindu. According to the legend, Rishi Vashisht was left depressed on finding out that his children had been killed by Vishwamitra. The water from this spring is believed to have great healing powers, which can cure many skin diseases and other infections. There are Turkish-style bath houses available here that contain the hot water from the springs, which are used to take bath and enjoy the warmth of the place in privacy.

 

Manu temple: This magnificent temple is dedicated to the sage Manu, who is said to be the creator of the world and the writer of Manusmriti. The Manu Temple is located in old Manali, at a distance of three kilometers from the main market. Today after breakfast, you will head out for a full day tour in Shimla. Start the day by first visiting the Chadwick Waterfalls. From a height of 1586 meters, the waterfalls cascades down in to a deep gorge. The water flow in the fall upsurges right after the monsoon gets over.

 

Next, visit the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. Also famous as the Viceregal Lodge or Rashtrapati Niwas, this ancient British masterpiece surrounded by manicured lawns and gardens, ringed by beautiful pine trees and rose plants.

Then, go ahead to behold the beautiful sight of the Shimla State Museum. It houses a massive collection of ancient historical sculptures, coins, paintings, handicrafts, pre historic objects, wood carvings etc. 

Lastly, visit the Christ Church. It is one the oldest churches in North India. It was built by the British in 1857.  The Neo-Gothic style of architecture is mesmerising and leaves its viewer enthralled. The church has stained glass windows that represents hope, faith, charity, patience, fortitude and humanity.

Indian Institute of Advanced Studies: The Indian Institute of Advanced Study is housed in the famous Viceregal Lodge situated on top of the Observatory Hill. Viceregal Lodge is also called Rashtrapati Niwas. The building was constructed between 1880 and 1888 during British reign. The year 1965 saw the establishment of Indian Institute of Advanced Study here by Dr. Radhakrishnan

 

Jakhu Hanumna Temple:  This temple of Lord Hanuman, the most faithful aide to Lord Rama is located in the thick forests of Jakhu hills. The devotees need to cover a steep hill trek of around 2 kms to reach the temple which is 2.5 km from the Ridge and offers beautiful views of the Shivalik Mountains and the nearby town of Sanjauli. It is the highest peak in Shimla and gives shelter to countless playful monkeys which can be found waiting to be fed by visitors

 

Shimla church: Christ Church Shimla is the second oldest church in North India, after St John's Church in Meerut. It was consecrated on 10th January 1857 by Bishop Wilson of Calcutta. Built in Neo-Gothic style of architecture, other impressive features of the Church include paintings that portray scenes from Jesus Christ’s life. As it is located at the most prominent road of Shimla, The Ridge, it has become an important landmark in the city.

 

State Museum: The State Museum Shimla is housed in an old Victorian mansion carefully altered to adapt it to the museum. There are many colonial structures and heritage sites in Shimla that are of great historical importance. The museum also has a doll gallery which has several bride and groom dolls among many others which are admired by all visitors. Some archeological artifacts are also found here which include stone images from the 8th century.

 

Chadwick Waterfalls: Chadwick Falls is located at about 7 kilometers from Shimla, just beyond the summer hill. The waterfalls cascades down in to a deep gorge, from a height of 67 meters. Chadwick Falls is best seen just after the monsoon. September would be the best time to see and enjoy the Chadwick waterfalls.

After breakfast, head for a day excursion to Kufri today.

If snow is what stirs excitement in you, Kufri is quite a retreat for your eyes.

The temples and bird’s eye view of the snow-capped mountains are absolutely worth your time. Visit the fun world at Kufri which serves its visitors with fun filled adventure activities. It is a must go to place in Shimla, especially if you are travelling with kids. It is most popular for being one of the highest amusement parks and has the highest go kart track in the world. 

Next, take a horse ride up to the Mahasu Peak. The only way to reach the peak is by riding on a horse or mule. It is the highest peak in Kufri and the muddy path and no vehicles can ride up to the top.

Yak rides are also an additional tourist attraction in Kufri.

Later, return to the hotel in Shimla for a delightful meal and to spend the night.
