There is also the Cafe Lalit here, managed by HPTDC.This tourist park is easily accessible from neighbouring regions like Shimla, which is 19 km away and the park is 6 km from the region of Fagu.

Fagu Site Seeings

The Fagu region is situated in between two valleys surrounded by forest covers and apple orchards. Fagu is located about 6 km from Kufri at an altitude of 2,509 metres. It has a tourist bungalow on top that overlooks the Giri Valley. It is located at a distance of 6 km from Kufri.

Fagu is covered with forests and orchards and winter sports festivals are organised here because of its ski routes. The winter ski fests are celebrated here in the winter month of February. During summers the village of Fagu is popular as a picnic spot.   

The Himalaya Nature Park covers a land area of 90 hectares and consists of different animals like musk deer, barking deer, black bear, leopard cat and cheer pheasant. Camping can be done in the park with limited camping facilities being available. 


Shimla Local Site Seeings

The Mall and the Ridge Road in Shimla

The Mall is the main street in Shimla and shopping centre like in most of the other hill stations in India. You can see restaurants, banks, clubs, tourist offices to help the tourists out as well as post offices. the offices of Municipal corporation fireservice and police departmental headquarters are located in The Mall Road.

                          

Tourists love to walk slowly across the Mall, see the shops, meet and talk to their friends and do some shopping also. The Gaiety Theatre, which is a replica of an old British theatre is present there and is the center of cultural activities. There is an Himachal Emporium which offers handicraft products of Himachal Pradesh like pottery items, jewellery, designed woollen materials etc.

The Ridge Road is actually a large open space which is situated at the heart of Shimla and runs east to west along the side of the Mall Road. Ridge road joins the Mall road at the Scandal point on the west side. On the east side of the Ridge road is the lakkar Bazar. Lakkar Bazar is the market where you can get all types wooden craft items and materials Lakkar Bazaar is popular for its wood crafts.


 

Jakhoo Hill

Jakhoo Hill is located at about 2 kilometers from Shimla, at an altitude of about 2455 m above sea level. Jakhoo is the highest peak in the area and offers a great view of the magnificent Shimla. There is an ancient Lord Hanuman temple at the top of the Jakhoo hill and can be easily reached from Ridge near Church by walking for at most an hour. You can also hire a pony or a taxi to go to the Hanuman temple. But if you prefer mountain climbing you can do that also.

You can see so many monkeys in the area but they will not give you any trouble. If the pilgrims offer any fruits or eatables they just accept. The walk to the temple is through the dense forests of Deodar trees but the climb is very tiresome if one is not used to it. If you like you can get ponies for hire to reach the temple.


Shimla State Museum

Shimla State Museum is located at about 3 Kilometers Ancient Historical Sculptors and paintings of Himachal Pradesh. Visiting hours 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Monday and gazetted holidays.

                          

The State Museum was opened in 1974 consisting of the art objects mostly related to art, archaeology and the cultural anthropology of the Himachal Region as well as from the other states of India. The Museum has about 9000 objects in te collection at present. At first the Museum started off with just 4 galleries but now more galleries have been added. These galleries pertain to Indian archeology, Himachal archaeology, Pre historic Objects, wood carvings, Monuments, Photographs, Bronzes, Arms Gallery, Gandhi Gallery, Philatelic, Anthropological, Pahari Miniature Paintings, Rajasthan paintings, Contemporary Art and Wall Paintings gallery.

Museum is open between 10 am to 1.30 pm and then from 2 to 5 pm. Mondays and second Saturday of every month are holidays.


Summer Hill

Summer Hill is located at about 5 kilometers and is placed at an altitude of about 1983 meters above sea level. Summer Hill is a beautiful township and a nice suburb on the Shimla-Kalka Railway line. The Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had visited Shimla and lived in these quiet surroundings at the elegant Georgian House of Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur.

The temperature during winter is very cold and freezing that you cannot see people outside. At other times the place is pleasant, particularly during summers, even then you might need woolen clothes and accessories in the nights.


Christ Church

Christ Church is a majestic looking church, located on the Ridge and is said to be the second oldest church in the whole of North India.Inside the church there are stained glass windows that seems to represent faith, hope, charity, fortitude, patience and humility. The Christ Church is one place that the visitors who come in to India should spend some time.

                                


Annandale

Annandale is the flat terrain in Shimla and has been developed as the playground of the city. Annandale is located at about 2-4 kilometers away from the Ridge. it is favourite spot for Cricket Picnics, Golf and Polo etc. This is the highest point and is quite rewarding as you can get the best views of the city and its surroundings.


Tara Devi Temple

Tara Devi Temple is located on the top of a hill in Shimla and is a very famous tourist destination of the place. The Tara Devi temple is situated at about 11 kilometers from Shimla and can be seen while travelling on the Kalka Shimla National Highway. You can see the backdrop of the lofty Himalayas when you visit the tara Devi temple. The clean and fresh air works wonders on you helping you to relax from the day to day worries in life.

                         

The origin of the temple can be traced back to 250 years back. It is said and believed that the Goddess Tara Devi came all the way from West Bengal to Himachal Pradesh.

Wild Flower Hall

Wildflower Hall is a beautiful heritage building designed and built by Lord Kitchener. This whole building was renovated and now is a resort spreading over 22 acres and is located at about 8250 feet above sea level. At present the hall is a 5 star resort of the Oberoi group placed amidst Virgin woods of cedar and pine. This Wildflower Hall is a masterpiece of the British Colonial heritage.

                               


 

Chadwick Waterfalls

Chadwick Falls is located at about 7 kilometers from Shimla, just beyond the Summerhill. The waterfalls cascades down in to a deep gorge, from a height of 67 meters. Chadwick Falls is best seen just after the monsoon.September would be the best time to see and enjoy the Chadwick waterfalls.
