It was established in 1974 after the Wildlife Protection Act passed in 1972. Its average altitude is 327 m to 736 m. the total area of this sanctuary is 556 sq Km. the Sita Nadi river flows across this sanctuary which is why the Dhamtari sanctuary derives its name. Shadani Darbar : Shadani Darbar is named after a famous saint who lived here, Sri Shadramji Saheb. Shadani darbar is situated about 15 (KMS) from Raipur Railway Station and 4 kilometers from the Airport. It covers the area of around 12 acres. Shadani Darbar is a popular pilgrimage spot of Hindus. Shadani Darbar has beautifully engraved images of gods and avatars that can be seen either sides of the walls, specially the statue of Dhuni Shaeb which is placed in an enormous hall of Shadani Darbar.
