
Bomdila is a beautiful hill station located west Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh which is situated at 3,500 meters in the Himalayas. This lofty paradise called Bomdila is snow clad for a major part of the year and makes a delightful destination to get away to in summer. Lush apple orchards that stretch far and wide surround Bomdila. The area will offer you a number of spots such as temples and wildlife sanctuaries. Both Buddhist and Hindu temples are to be found here. Some of the other places to be visited include a number apple orchards and The Eagle Nest Wildlife Sanctuary. The Buddhist monastery of Bomdila is the repository of culture and is among primary attractions of the area. Local site seeing to Dirang valley and the famous Sela Pass, Bomdila like other towns in the area has a strong Buddhist and Tibetan influence. There are a fair number of gompas here and the town has quaint little eating-places where you can savour traditional Tibetan cuisine plus the all time favourites - momos and thukpas.

Losar and Khan: Festival is the two important festivals in Bomdila.
Losar: is a New Year Festival for Monpas and is generally celebrated during end February or early March according to the Buddhist calendar. The celebrations last for approximately 8-15 days and the celebrations include cleaning homes to usher the New Year and discarding the old.
Khan: Festival is another special event in Bomdila. An occasion of reunion, the basic significance of this festival is tying of a piece of wool by the priest around everybody’s neck. The sacred thread of wool is believed to bring good luck everyone.
Helicopter are leased by Pawan Hans but operated by Arunachal Pradesh Tourism. They usually start around 5 or 6 in the morning and you can reach Tezpur in 13 hours. Fancy cars such as Scorpio will cost about Rs. 13000/- one way.
