Early Morning proceeds for Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan via Pre-booked Helicopter. you will be droped by Helicopter at Sanjhi Chhat. Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan is only 2 kms away from sanjhi Chhat.

Sanjhi Chatt to Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan

The footpath is a better option than the stairs here. It takes another 15, 00 ft climb to reach the Sanjhi chatt. From the Sanjhi chatt, the cave is at a distance of 4 km. very close to the Vaishno Devi caves is the Sri Ram temple where the pilgrims climb 125 steps downstairs to pay their homage to a Shiva lingam situated here.

 

Vaishno Devi Bhawan - Darshan

Then finally the devotees reach this beautiful cave where the goddess is present in the form of three pindis. ‘Maha saraswati, maha laxmi and maha kaali,’ are the three forms of the mother durga. It here the demon Bhairon was slain by the goddess

 

Bharon Ghati and Bhairav Temple - On Return

After visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine, it is the custom for pilgrims to visit the bhairav temple situated about 2.5 km from the main shrine. This is the final destination of the Yatra. It is believed that the goddess fulfils the desires of her devotees who visit this temple after paying homage to her. So the Yatra is a very hard climb for the pilgrims though pleasant.

 

Hathi Mattha - 4th Point

From Bharon Ghati, come back to Sanjhi chhat and proceed to Hathi Mathha, The pigrims have to cross very steep paths for about 2.5km. This is so called as the mountain is shaped like the forehead of an elephant.

 

Adhkuwari Darshan

Now comes the half-way point between Katra and the shrine. This place is called ardh kuwari and many pilgrims stay here overnight to take rest. The goddess had hid herself for about nine months here in cave called garbha joon. It is 15 m long cave and the pilgrims have to crawl inside it to cross it.

 

Charanpaduka Darshan

Next place is Charan paduka, there is a place where the ‘holy footprints or charanapaduka’ of the goddess is seen on a stone. This place is called charanpaduka.

 

Ban Ganga temple -Darshan

Next place is Ban Ganga, Here is situated the Bhumika temple from where the three peaks of Trikuta mountains (abode of the goddess) is visible. It is believed that the goddess disappeared from here and reached the Ban Ganga temple. It is said that the holy river Ban Ganga sprung from a stone when the goddess shot an arrow on it. She did so because veer langur was thirsty. The goddess washed her hair here so it called Ban Ganga. Pilgrims can also take their bath here to purify themselves. It is here that the slip bought from Katra is shown to move further. This place is around 3 km. from Katra.

After Darshan back to Katra. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Early Morning, proceed to Patnitop a famous Hill Station of Himachal. This famous hill resort is perched on a beautiful plateau, at an altitude of 2024 metres across which the Jammu-Srinagar Highway passes. Check in a Hotel. In the afternoon proceed to Sanasar(25 Kms from Patnitop). Sanasar is cup shaped meadow surrounded by gigantic conifers.

Back to Patnitop in the evening. Overnight stay at Patnitop Hotel.

Vaishno Devi Trekking Route Details from Katra

1. Ban Ganga temple - 1st Point

Aarti and Pooja at Vaishno Devi Bhawan

The ‘Aarti’ of the Goddess is performed twice a day first time in the morning just before the sunrise and second time in the evening immediately after the sunset. The procedure of ‘Aarti’ is a very sacred and lengthy one. Before the commencement of ‘Aarti’, the Pujaris perform ‘Aatam pujan’ i,e self-purification. Then the Goddess is bathed in water, milk, ghee (Clarified butter), honey and sugar.

Thereafter the goddess is dressed-up in a saree, chola and chuni and ornaments are endowed upon her. The whole process takes place amidst the enchantment of various shlokas and Mantras. Thereafter Tilak is placed on the forehead of the deity and Navied (prashad) is offered to her. The Pujaris perform puja of various Gods and Goddesses, as it is a believed that during the Aarti time, all the Gods and Goddesses are present inside the sanctum Sanctorum. The Jyoti (divine lamp) is lightened and then the ‘Aarti’ of the goddess is performed. After the whole procedure, the thaal which contains the lamp and various other items used in the ‘Aarti’, is brought outside the mouth of the holy cave, where ‘Aarti’ of the goddess is performed in the presence of yatris

By Road: Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation buses are available from Jammu to Katra at regular intervals. Air-conditioned private deluxe buses and taxis are also available from Jammu to Katra.

By Train: The nearest railway station from Katra is the Udhampur railway station. Taxi and cab services are available from the railway station to Katra.

By Air: The Jammu airport is the nearest to Katra at a distance of 50 kilometer. Jammu is well-connected with major airports in India. It’s easy to get a cab from the Jammu airport to Katra as regular taxi and cab services are available.

Weather of vaishno devi

Weather of summer: In summer month’s maximum temperature recorded is 30° Celsius and the minimum of 15° Celsius here. Especially from May to July are most popular among devotees. Visitors are allowed to carry light woolens during this time but the nights are quite cool during the peak summer season.

Weather of winter: During this time the area records a maximum temperature of 13° Celsius and a minimum temperature of minus 2° Celsius. The winter season is from November to January. The snowfall during the months of December and January and so visitor are advised to carry heavy woolens.

Weather of Monsoon: During this time the area experiences regular showers recording about 107cm of rainfall. Vaishno Devi experiences monsoon season from July to September.

Best time to visit

Vaishno Devi is open for pilgrims throughout the year, but the best time to undertake the journey is between the months of March and October. A lot of pilgrims visit Vaishno Devi between these months as the weather is cool and pleasant, but maximum visitors plan their trip during the Navratras.

During the winters from November to February, the temperature goes down at zero degree levels. This is the time when the skies open up at Katra and the surrounding areas are cloaked in snow. That’s why for physically comfortableness to visit at these months.

Katra to Vaishno Devi Trek Details ( New Way)

Mata Vaishno Devi - New Way /Road Trek ( 500 meter shorter and easier)
 
As the old trek is very steep at Hathimatha and gets congested due to heavy rush and ponies, A New and easy Trek was pkanned with very gentle slope  in 1990s. New Trek is shorter and easier than the old track and has been widely liked by the pilgrims. 

The alternate track starts from just below Adhkuwari near Inderprastha view point and terminates just short of Bhawan Complex. It is 500 meters shorter than the old track.

This track is much more wider as compared to the existing track and is also easier to walk because of gentle climb. Two view points, three sales outlet/ refreshment units, drinking waterpoints and water cooler have been constructed/ installed on the Track.

A number of Tea/Coffee, Soft Drinks sales outlets have been installed besides a Dosa point at Himkoti Viewpoint. Adequate number of Toilet blocks have been constructed on the Alternate Track with a view to provide clean public utilities to the visiting Devotees. Sufficient number of Shelter Sheds are also available. 

Mata Vaishno Devi Ji By Auto - Battery vehicle

A zero-emission battery vehicle is run on new track. Battery vehicle facility is available at Inderprasth (Adhkuwari) and Manokmana Bhawan for  sick and handicap devotees. The booking of facility is subject to availability
