The places in this trip start from Kochi (9.9700° N, 76.2800° E) and move to Munnar (10.0892° N, 77.0597° E), Alleppey (9.4900° N, 76.3300° E) and finally to the beach town of Varkala (8.7330° N, 76.7170° E) . Kochi is an important town of Kerala along with Munnar that is located on a height of 5262ft, Alleppey is a backwater town situated nearby and Varkala is a beach town. The weather here is pleasant and becomes colder in the evening. Languages spoken in this region is Malayalam along with basic Hindi and English.

Day-1: Kochi

Our representative will welcome you and pick you Cochin Airport or Railway Station and transfer to the hotel for check in. The day will be free for leisure and sightseeing/shopping on your own. Return to hotel for overnight stay and dinner.

Day-2: Kochi Sightseeing

We will leave from the hotel in the morning after breakfast for Sightseeing of Cochin. We will start from visit places like The Dutch Palace, The Jewish Synagogue then move to the iconic St. Francis Church which is the oldest European church in India built in 1502. We will see the Chinese fishing nets that was gifted by the Chinese empire to the King of Cochin and very few now remain in working condition., Santa Cruz Basilica etc. Rest of the day will be free for shopping at one of the many streets in Kochi famous for shops with antiques, fabrics & jewelry. We will then return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Poornathresya Temple: This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his true form. This temple once used to be the royal temple of the Kochi kingdom.

Day-3: Kochi-Munnar (128km/3.19h)

Today we will check out from the hotel in the morning and proceed to Munnar, Munnar is popular between honeymooners and is also called the “Nature Lover’s Paradise”. Munnar is a romantic hill station that is at 1800mts above the sea level. En route we will stop at Cheyyappara waterfalls, this waterfall is located in Idduki district or Kerala state. This waterfall is divided into seven cascades and is a great place for trekking. After spending some time here we will again drive towards Munnar and check in the hotel for overnight stay and dinner.

                       

Day-4: Munnar Sightseeing.

We will leave from hotel in the morning for local sighseeing in Munnar. The sighseeing will start from Eravikulam National Park in the morning. The in the afternoon after lunch we will visit Mattupetty Dam/Kundala dam that is a famous and beautiful place popular for boating activities. From here we will visit places in the city. You can go for shopping in the evening, overnight and dinner will be arranged in the hotel.

Eravikulam National Park: This national park is also known as Rajamalai national park and is 45 min away from Munnar. This place is famous for wildlife sightings such as Nilgiri Thar that is only found here in the whole world, lion-tailed macaque, leopards, tigers along with many birds and flowers.

Lakkam Water Falls: this is a small and pristine waterfall situated 24 km away from Munnar.

Atukkad Waterfalls: Another scenic waterfall located between hills and jungles.

Echo Point: This place is located near a lake between the hills where one can hear their loud calls returned as echo from the surrounding hills.

Kundala Lake: Another beautiful lake located in between of lush jungles. Boating facilities are available here.

Top Station: This point provides great views of Western Ghats.

Day-5: Munnar – Alleppey (160 km/4h)

We will check out from the hotel in Munnar and proceed to Alleppey. Alleppey is a pristine scenic location in Kerala famous for its immense natural beauty. Allepey is popularly called as “Venice of the East” by the romanticists. This place is is famous for the backwaters and houseboat holidays along with the famous local sport boat race and beaches. Here you’ll be stating in a Houseboat and enjoy the cruise through the backwaters of Alleppey. Lunch and Dinner on the houseboat.

                      

Day-6: Alleppey-Varkala (118 km/3h)

Today we will check out from the houseboat and leave for Varkala. This place holds the legend that here Lord Brahma instructed a Pandyan King to build a temple to redeem him of his sins. We will be checking in to a hotel located near the beach for overnight stay and dinner.

Day-7: Varkala Sighseeing

Today we will leave from the hotel for sightseeing in Varkala. There are many beautiful beaches and natural cascades at this place. Some of the famous places are,

                  

Shree Janardhana Swamy temple: It’s a 2000 year old temple that marks Varkala as a prime Hindu pilgrimage center in Kerala.

Edava Beach: This is a beautiful serene beach with a beautiful lagoon at the very end.

Boatride on Edava Lake: This boat ride takes you through the Edava lake in between of beautiful landscapes and canals in Edava's backwater.

Sivagiri Mutt: The Mutt houses the ‘Samadhi’ of the famous scholar and saint – Sri Narayana Guru, who once fought against religious intolerance in the state.

Varkala Tunnel: Its a 924 ft long tunnel, was built by the British to provide trade route

Kappil Lake: Kappil Lake is a less-explored and a serine spot located between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. A mound of coconut trees and lush greenery surrounds the area making it a very romantic spot to lovebirds and couples.

Anjengo Fort: It’s a protect heritage monument that was Built in the 17th century. Today there only the remnants of the old English fort and its cemetery.

Day-8: Varkala

Today we will visit the beach and enjoy sun bath or one of the many water sports activities. You can visit the street for shopping and local food trial. Overnight and dinner in hotel

Day-9: Varkala- Cochin (171 km/3h)

After breakfast we will drive for Cochin where you’ll be dropped at the airport /railway station and the trip shall end.

 

Fairs and festivals

Janardhana Swami Temple – Arattu Festival: This 10 day long festival is organized in Varkala during March-April where colorful processions with gold caparisoned elephants, pulsating temple music and decorated silk umbrellas makes the place beautiful and amazing with huge crowd coming in large numbers to attend this festival.

Alleppey is famous for its famous Snake Boats of Kerala compete in the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. Held at Lake Punnamda, the Race is organised on the second Saturday of August. Each village in the Kuttanad region enters a boat in the competition and the Boat Race is the occasion for a grand festival along the lake shore.

Cochin Carnival is organized in Kochi from Dec 20 to Jan 2, this is the biggest carnival festival in the city celebrated as part of Portuguese New Year's celebrations. This festival comprises of beautiful procession and fancy dress parades with many competitions like bike race and beach games. A grand firework show covers the night that is followed by the night beach parties. This is one of the biggest carnivals in India.

Onam Festival is celebrated in whole Kerela for ten days starting from mid-August to mid-September.
