Day 1: Arrive at Shimla

About Shimla Church
Christ Church Shimla is the second oldest church in North India, after St John's Church in Meerut. It is a parish in the Diocese of Amritsar in the Church of North India. The foundation stone of this church was laid on 9th September 1844. It was consecrated on 10th January 1857 by Bishop Wilson of Calcutta. Built in Neo-Gothic style of architecture, it took nearly thirteen years to construct it. The Pipe Organ of the church is the biggest in the Indian subcontinent and was erected in September 1899. Other impressive features of the Church include paintings that portray scenes from Jesus Christ’s life. As it is located at the most prominent road of Shimla, The Ridge it has become an important landmark in the city.

Kufri is a small hill station situated 20 km away and one of the highest points in Shimla. The place is famous as a winter destination with the slopes turning into skiing track during winter. Especially popular among trekkers, Kufri is the starting point of treks to Manali, Shimla, Rewalsar and Fagu among others. Kufri, Shimla and Chail form the Golden Triangle of Himachal Pradesh.

It’s also a great spot to take in the breathtaking view of the entire Himalayan range and its snow-clad peaks.
Kufri Fun World: Kufri Fun World is a major attraction and must visit place when you are at Kufri. The amusement park is a perfect weekend getaway for you and your family. The amusement park has several rides for kids, who come to this mesmerizing place during weekends to enjoy the rides. Take some time to relax in the canteen and appreciate the magnificent views across the Himalayan Mountains. Kufri Fun World is located at the top of Mahasu peak. At over 2,800 metres (9,000 feet) above sea level, it is one of the highest amusement parks in the world and is famous for having the highest go-kart track on the planet.
Mahasu Peak: Mahasu Peak offers breathtaking views of Badrinath and Kedarnath ranges. Hiking is the best ways to explore through a thick forest of deodar and spiff up to the top. Indira Tourist Park: One of the most famous tourist spots in Kufri, Indira Tourist Park is situated nearby the Great Himalayan Nature Park in Himachal Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 19 Km from Shimla and 6 Km from Fagu. It is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, when she visited this area in the year 1972, during the signing of the Shimla Agreement between India and Pakistan. The park houses a beer bar, video games parlour, an ice-cream parlour and the HPTDC-run Lalit Café. Bhey or Spicy Lotus stems: Thinly sliced lotus stems are then cooked in the ginger-garlic, onions and gram flour which add the unique and great taste to the dish.
Siddu: Sidu is a local side- dish of Himachal Pradesh which greatly complements the main course of mutton or some vegetables. This partly cooked dough is then steamed to keep the taste and nutrients of the ingredients intact. Sidu can easily be found in the local restaurants of Himachal Pradesh to give tourists a flavor of Himachali cuisine.
Babru: Babru is flat bread which is prepared with the stuffing of black gram paste which is added to the kneaded dough. The crisp and the scrumptious taste that this dish has to offer will make you forget the conventional Kachoris of North India.
Kullu Trout fish: The marinated fish is cooked in the minimal spices to keep the nutrients and the original taste of Trout intact. The dish is best coupled with the number of boiled vegetables, and hence it remains one of the healthiest delicacies of Himachal Pradesh.
