Day 01: Delhi - Chandigarh - Shimla . (400 Km/6-7 hrs)

Board Shatabdi Extpress  from Delhi, & Reach Kalka Junction. Pick up from Kalka and proceed to Shimla.

Alternatively, Drive from Delhi to Shimla via Chandigarh, Lunch Break at Chandigarh or on GT Road, Reach Shimla by the late evening. 

With a early morning pick up from their Home/Hotel or from Railway Station/Airport, guests  and taken to Shimla via Chandigarh,Ambala,Kurushetra.The necessary lunch halt/refreshment halt is provided to the guests at appropriate places. Upon reaching Shimla they check in the hotel. The rest of the day is spent at the personal leisure. They can dawdle around the Mall Road in late evening .The Mall Road mushroomed by Cafes, eateries and souvenirs shops centered and is the place-to-be in the evenings.

Day 02 : Shimla Site Seeing & Leisure

Today is the leisure day, we will do site seeing of Shimla - The British Summer Capital of India, Visit all iconic places on Mall Road, The Ridge, Jakhoo Temple Trek, Scandle Point,  Architectural buildings, wooden crafts, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Gaiety theatre, Christ Church, Jakhu Temple, The Mall and The Ridge.

From Shimla, we take  road trip to the lesser known but unparallel, unspoiled and untouched raw terrain of Himachal Pradesh. The destination of 250km to Rampur - Sarahan - Sangla is breath-taking, While in Rampur guests can stop at the Padam Palace or in Sarahan if you reach by evening. 

 

Day 03: Shimla – Narkanda –  Rampur – Jeori – Sarahan. (175 Km/6-7 hrs)

Drive from Shimla enroute visit Kufri, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda. The road goes through pine forests offering great views of snow mountains and deep valleys terraced with apple orchards. You drive along the Sutlej River from Narkanda enroute visiting Sun temple at Nirath and padam palace at Rampur Bushhar. it is straight and level road till Rampur, Finally we reach Sarahan, famous for 1500 year old Bhimakali Temple is a big attraction.

In Sarahan, you also get magnificent views of the ShirKhand Mahadev peaks.

Lunch either in Narkanda /  Sainj.

After lunch, Proceed on to Rampur, drive through Jeori & reach Sarahan.

Day 04 : Sarahan – Jeori – Wangtu – Karcham – Sangla. (92 Km/4-5hrs)

Early morning visit the Bird Park walk for 2 hours, visit the Bhima Kali temple, one of the most important temples of Kali in India where there use to be human sacrifice before 18th Century.

After Lunch, drive to Jeori past the Wangtu bridge then drive towards Karcham reach Sangla, walk the market place if time allows visit the Kamru Fort & the Temple of the village deity in Sangla village.Sangla, also called the Baspa Valley. It is the most scenic valley of Kinnaur.

Day 05 : Sangla – Chitkul – Raksham/ Sangla. (46 Km/ 2-3hrs) 

Full day Excursion to Chitkul( 22 km:45minutes)

After the breakfast, guests are taken for the full day excursion to the remote village of village of Chitkul. There are several places on the way to Chitkul where one can take the leisure halt. One can halt near a small stream that empties itself in the Bapsa River. Latter, upon returning to Sangla guests can visit the local fishing trout, Buddhist monastery and Tibetan wooden craft centre. Have an early dinner at the camp and retire for the overnight sleep.

Chitkul (3460 Meters)is  last village on India & Chinese border walk for half a day around Chitkul Village.

Return back to Sangla or an option of sleeping in Camps in Batseri is also available depending on availability or stay overnight in guest house / Hotel.

Day 06: Sangla  – Kalpa -Back drop of Kinner kailash - (60 Km 2-3hrs )

Area - Kinnaur Valley

Visit to Kamru Fort, Checkout from Sangla village and transfer to Kalpa village (39km:1hr 30min)

Have an early morning breakfast, Visit Kamru Fort and visit the Kamaksha temple in the Kamru Fort .After the check out from the hotel/camp at Sangla, the guest are taken for the overnight stay at the Kalpa village.In Kalpa village there are many apple Orchards trails waiting to be explored.

After breakfast drive  through  powari visit the monastery in Reckong – Peo with a 60 ft tall statue of Buddha drive to Kalpa.

In Kalpa - visit the monastery & the orphanage in Kalpa. The view of Kinner Kailash 6050 meters will be an enchanting site.

It’s followed by the transfer to the Kaza town. On arrival in Kaza guesthouse check in for dinner and overnight stay.One can also visit the nearby Laganza town for the marine fossils.

 

Day  07 : Kalpa – Recong - Peo - Nako (110 Km /4-5hrs)

Area - Spiti valley

Altitude - 

After breakfast drive through Reckong – Peo through powari, the landscape changes to Desert Mountains pass through the desert terrain.  drive through Puh to reach Nako for overnight stay. Visit the Lake & the Monastery of Nako, also walk through the Village of Nako.

From kalpa, onwards It is a mix of downhill, straight and uphill ride along the River Sutlej, from Khap, the Satluj river meets Spiti river and  uphill drive to Nako starts..

Nako village is beautifully located on banks of a small & sacred lake called Tso Pema (Lotus Lake). The monastery complex in the village has four temples in an enclosure built with mud walls.An impression of a foot found near the Nako Lake is said to be of  Guru Padmasambhava.

Day 08 : Nako to  Tabo (75 Kms/3-4hrs)

After breakfast drive through the desert mountain range with villages & Desert Mountains in the surroundings reach Tabo (3050) meters a more than 1000 year old monastery visit the Monastery.

After the breakfast, Proceed on site seeing of  Tabo, surrounded by high mountains. The temple complex of Tabo in one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries around the world and home to important art treasures. Tabo Monastery was founded in 996 AD by Tibetan scholar Rinchen Zangpo. It is also called the Ajanta of Himalayas; famous for its murals and statues. In trans Himalayas Buddhism, Tabo sanctity is next only to Tibet's Tholing Gompa. Visit thousand year old Tabo monastery, Chamber of Picture Treasures and Chogskor Monastery.

Day 09 : Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza – Kee Monestry – Kibber Village - Kaza  (110Kms 6-7hrs)

After breakfast drive to Dhankar the old capital of Spiti, and visit the Monastery which is located a 9 kms downhill ride till Attargu bridge visit the museum, and drive towards the headquarters of spiti Kaza

Have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel and leave for the sightseeing of places in and around Kaza village that includes Ki monastery (12 kms).The time honored Ki monastery is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors that acted as the fort in faraway past. The visit to the Kaza town can be enriched with the sightseeing at Lalung and Dhankar Gompa. 

Kibber Village Tour with Gete Village

Later visit the Kibber village that houses a small Gompa that is known as the highest permanently inhabited village of the region at height of 4200 meters. Kibber is small village and is the starting point for Tso Moriri trek in Ladakh. Further up six kilometers from Kibber, there is another smaller village of Gete which has  just six houses, Now gete is the highest village in Asia connected by road.

Dhankar Monastery Visit

Visit the Dhankar Monastery, It is also the traditional capital of Spiti on a hilltop. The fort here overlooks the Spiti valley and it was used as a jail in olden days. Today, more than 160 lamas reside here. 

A statue of Dhyan Budha where four complete figures of Budha sit back to back is the main attraction of this more than seven-century old monastery. 
About an hour’s trek (about 3 kms.) from here on a slightly uphill track is a small lake that sits languidly is a bowl. 

Return to the Kaza village for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10 : Kaza Site Seeing - Ki Monastery Gompa Tour 

Ki gompa is a Gelugpa sect monastery located at hilltop, constructed in thirteenth century construction. The Monstery has three storied structure consists largely of storage rooms at the bottom level, while the middle floor houses the Dukhang- the assembly hall- and the uppermost floor has another temple and the head Lama’s quarters, on one side of an open terrace.

The greatest wealth of Ki Gompa lies in its collection of ‘Thangkas’ salvaged with difficulty from the devastating raids of the Dogars and the Sikhs in the 19th century.

Day 12: Kaza - Losar - Chattru 112 kms ( Via Kunzum Pass - 4558 meters )

It is almost a straight and easy road to Losar , The last village of the valley is Lossar, where you can visit the Gompa and village. 

From Losar, Proceed next  till the base of Kunzum pass and then a 9 km uphill ride to reach the Kunzum Pass (4590mt) which offers an splendid view of the mountains. A small temple along the pass is dedicated to the Goddess Kunzum Devi.

Day 13: Chattru to Manali via Rohtang pass112 kms ( Via Rohlang Pass -  3980 m ) ( 81 kms )

from Chhattru, It is a dirt road to Gramphu that joins the main highway of Manali – Leh. From Gramphu, start  an uphill ride to the Rohtang Pass (3980 m). Rohtang is the gateway between Lahaul/ Spiti Valley and Kullu Valley

Risks of Tour - Shimla manali tour via Spiti Kaza Kunzum Pass

1. Acclimatization and AMS - Some Travellers suffer from mountain sickness, hence tour to be taken up slowly.

2. The route opens up only for 4 months ( June to September), Safest Months are only 3 as some times snow starts falling in early september. Most risky area is between Gramphu (diversion point on manali -Leh Highway ahead of Rohtang Pass) to Kunzum Pass, which get easily buried under snow.

3. Route has low priority than Manali Leh Highway, so some times due to land slides or unseason rains/snow the roads get destroyed.

4. Always take into plan 3-4 days extra when you plan this route, to add as a buffer to overall itinerary.

5. Heavy traffic jams between Rohtang Pass and Manali, There is a lot of inward traffic towards rohtang pass, which impact also outward traffic towards manali.

Day 01: Delhi - Chandigarh - Shimla . (400 Km/6-7 hrs)

Drive from Delhi, Lunch Break at Chandigarh or on GT Road, Reach Shimla by the late evening. 

With a early morning pick up from their Home/Hotel or from Railway Station/Airport, guests  and taken to Shimla via Chandigarh,Ambala,Kurushetra.The necessary lunch halt/refreshment halt is provided to the guests at appropriate places. Upon reaching Shimla they check in the hotel. The rest of the day is spent at the personal leisure. They can dawdle around the Mall Road in late evening .The Mall Road mushroomed by Cafes, eateries and souvenirs shops centered and is the place-to-be in the evenings.

Day 02 : Shimla Site Seeing & Leisure

Today is the leisure day, we will do site seeing of Shimla - The British Summer Capital of India, Visit all iconic places on Mall Road, The Ridge, Jakhoo Temple Trek, Scandle Point.

From Shimla, we take  road trip to the lesser known but unparallel, unspoiled and untouched raw terrain of Himachal Pradesh. The destination of 250km to Rampur - Sarahan - Sangla is breath-taking, While in Rampur guests can stop at the Padam Palace or in Sarahan if you reach by evening. 

 

Day 03: Shimla – Narkanda –  Rampur – Jeori – Sarahan. (175 Km/6-7 hrs)

Drive from Shimla enroute visit Kufri, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda.

Lunch either in Narkanda /  Sainj.

After lunch, Proceed on to Rampur, drive through Jeori & reach Sarahan.

Day 04 : Sarahan – Jeori – Wangtu – Karcham – Sangla. (92 Km/4-5hrs)

Early morning visit the Bird Park walk for 2 hours, visit the Bhima Kali temple one of the most important temples of Kali in India where there use to be human sacrifice before 18th Century, drive to Jeori past the Wangtu bridge then drive towards, Karcham reach Sangla walk the market place if time allows visit the Kamru Fort & the Temple of the village deity in Sangla village.

Day 05 : Sangla – Chitkul – Raksham/ Sangla. (46 Km/ 2-3hrs) 

Full day Excursion to Chitkul( 22 km:45minutes)

After the breakfast, guests are taken for the full day excursion to the remote village of village of Chitkul. There are several places on the way to Chitkul where one can take the leisure halt. One can halt near a small stream that empties itself in the Bapsa River. Latter, upon returning to Sangla guests can visit the local fishing trout, Buddhist monastery and Tibetan wooden craft centre. Have an early dinner at the camp and retire for the overnight sleep.

Chitkul (3460 Meters)is  last village on India & Chinese border walk for half a day around Chitkul Village.

Return back to Sangla or an option of sleeping in Camps in Batseri is also available depending on availability or stay overnight in guest house / Hotel.

Day 06: Sangla  – Kalpa (60 Km 2-3hrs )

Visit to Kamru Fort, Checkout from Sangla village and transfer to Kalpa village (39km:1hr 30min)

Have an early morning breakfast, Visit Kamru Fort and visit the Kamaksha temple in the Kamru Fort .After the check out from the hotel/camp at Sangla, the guest are taken for the overnight stay at the Kalpa village.In Kalpa village there are many apple Orchards trails waiting to be explored.

After breakfast drive  through  powari visit the monastery in Reckong – Peo with a 60 ft tall statue of Buddha drive to Kalpa.

In Kalpa - visit the monastery & the orphanage in Kalpa. The view of Kinner Kailash 6050 meters will be an enchanting site.

It’s followed by the transfer to the Kaza town. On arrival in Kaza guesthouse check in for dinner and overnight stay.One can also visit the nearby Laganza town for the marine fossils.


 

Day  07 : Kalpa – Nako (110 Km /4-5hrs)

After breakfast drive through Reckong – Peo through powari, the landscape changes to Desert Mountains pass through the desert terrain drive through Puh to reach Nako for overnight stay. Visit the Lake & the Monastery of Nako, also walk through the Village of Nako.

Day 08 : Nako to  Tabo (75 Kms/3-4hrs)

After breakfast drive through the desert mountain range with villages & Desert Mountains in the surroundings reach Tabo (3050) meters a more than 1000 year old monastery visit the Monastery.

After the breakfast and check out from the hotel guest are taken to the visit at thousand year old Tabo monastery, Chamber of Picture Treasures and Chogskor Monastery.

Day 09 : Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza – Kee Monestry – Kibber Village - Kaza  (110Kms 6-7hrs)

After breakfast drive to Dhankar the old capital of Spiti visit the museum, and drive towards the headquarters of spiti Kaza

Sightseeing in Kaza with visit to Ki monastery & Kibber village : 

Have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel and leave for the sightseeing of places in and around Kaza village that includes Ki monastery (12 kms).The time honored Ki monastery is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors that acted as the fort in faraway past. The visit to the Kaza town can be enriched with the sightseeing at Lalung and Dhankar Gompa. 

Later visit the Kibber village that houses a small Gompa that is known as the highest permanently inhabited village of the region. 

Return to the Kaza village for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Kaza to  Manali   230 kms ( Via Kunzum Pass & Rohtang pass)

Next Day check out from Hotel & proceed to Manali by  Kunzum Pass & Rohtang Pass , After the early breakfast guest are taken for 10 hours journey to Manali with the halt at Kunzam Pass (4558m) and Rohtang Pass(3980m).Upon arrival at Manali  check –in the Hotel Honeymoon Inn for dinner and overnight stay. Guests can visit the Mall Road in Manali in evening for shopping for souvenirs.
