Manali to Leh Safari - Himalayan Jeep Safari - Itinarary

Day 01: Arrive Manali 
 

On arrival Manali transfer to hotel. Day free, evening walk around local market.Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 02: Full day Manali city Tour 
 

After breakfast go for full day Manali sightseeing this includes “Vashisht Baths”, “Arjun Gufa” “Tibetan Temple” and Manu Temple.  Evening is free for shopping. You can shop at the Mall Road for handicrafts and leather items.

Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 3 :  Manali to Keylong via Rohtang Pass- (113 kms - 5 hours) - 3978 meters

Early in the morning start driving to Keylong via Rohtang pass (3978 mtr.), the distance of about 115km will be covered in about 5-6 hrs. Enroute to the Lahaul Valey after crossing the Famous Rohatang pass (located 53 km from Manali). which is most popular with visitors, being one of the highest road point and gateway to LAHAUL and SPITI valleys. Pass remains closed during winter due to heavy snow from November end to May end.

Overnight stay at Keylong Hotel. 

Day 4 - Keylong- Jispa-Sarchu ( Via Baralacha la) and overnight stay at Sarchu ( 105 Kms - 5-6 Hours) - 4892 meters

After breakfast drive to Sarchu over Baralacha-la Pass (4892 Mts.). The distance of about 105km will be covered in about 5-6 hrs. The landscape en-route is magnificent. 

Cross BaralachLa Pass and do see the prayers stones put by the Buddhist monks on the way. The pass is the origin of Mountain River Bagha and Chandra. Before reaching BaralachLa Pass ,do stop at the Deepak Tal to see the crystal clear water of the lake.

Upon reaching at the Sarchu, stay overnight at the tent and experience the thrill of staying in outlands.

Day 5: Sarchu – Tanglang-La- Tsomoriri / 118km ( 5400m - 4573 m)

After breakfast drive to Pang. En route we may encounter the wild animals. Pang is the tiny migrated markets in Leh-Manali road run by Ladakhis. They remain there for few months from mid June till Sep.

Just cross the Pang and then drive further up. After the up hill drive we find the plain area around 60 km till base of Tanglang-la (5400m).  

Reach Tsomoriri and check in at your fixed camp. 

Visit the lake side the small collection of huts. Tsomoriri is situated at an altitude of 4573m from south east from Leh. It is like a pearl shape and contains large mineral deposits. The circumference of the lake is around 36 km. Here you must register and show your permit.

Day 06: Tsomoriri – Tsokar 

In the morning visit Korzok village and visit around the lake. Later drive to Mahe village. The village is famous for the scene of shooting fountain and white clouds hanging upon. Drive to Puga valley, which is famous for Butan gas. Later we drive to Tsokar.

Day 07: Tsokar - Tanglang La - Leh (4090 meters - 5350 meters)

Post breakfast visit Tsokar, which is at an altitude of 4090 mts. You can also visit Thugke Gompa. Later we drive towards Leh via Tanglang pass, which is at a height of 5350 mts and is the second highest motorable pass in the world.

Day 08: Tour of Hemis, Thiksey Shey monastery - 3 Idiots School Campus -Sindhu Darshan After a leisurely

After breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh.

From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk.
 

After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Follwed by 3 Idiots School Campus and Sindhu Darshan visit.

Day 09: Drive Sham Valley & Alchi -70km

After breakfast, carry packed lunch for the day. Sightseeing of 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground.

Thereafter proceed to the Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Leh has a cold climate in winters from October to March. The temperature ranges from −28 °C in winter to 33 °C in summer. During winter season all the roads are snow bound and the road path is closed. Its only when the summer comes (May end to September) road blockage is cleared and travel to the Leh is advisable.
