By Bus: Dharamshala to McleodGanj is only 9 km. Buses are available from 0730 hrs to 2030 hrs in the evening. Jeeps and taxis are also available during late hours.

By Train: The nearest railway station to Dharamsala is Kangra Mandir (narrow gauge) which is at a distance of 22 km. Since it is a small station,  all the trains do not stop at this station.The major rail junction is Pathankot, which is about 85 km away from Dharamsala. Pathakot is well connected to all the major cities in India.

By Air: The nearest airport to Dharamsala is the Gaggal airport in Kangra valley. The airport is at a distance of 12 km from Dharamsala and reaching here, one can hire a taxi cab to reach Dharamsala.

By Bus:  The road route to Leh is via Manali. Reach Manali from Delhi or Chandigarh and take a bus onward to Leh. The journey to Leh takes 2 days from Manali with an overnight stop at Keylong. It is advisable to arrive in Leh 2 days prior to starting the trek for a proper acclimatization to happen especially if you fly to Leh.

You would enjoy the flight as you would fly over many untouched areas and even some mountain ranges. The aerial view is just fascinating and gives a great start to your tour.

By Road: The road from Manali to Leh is only open in the summers. The road trip may take you 2 days, but depending upon the weather conditions, the travel may also extend to 3 or even 4 days. You should also make sure that you carry at least two spare tires. A good advice would be to carry a sleeping bag with you well, as the bus may stop in the middle of nowhere for the overnight stay.

Another route to Leh via Srinagar, also takes around two days. On this route, you would pass through some lonely yet famous villages like Kargil and Khalsi.

22. Kudremukh Trek, Karnataka

Reaching for Kudremukh trek base by private Vehicle: It is recommended that if you want to go for Kudremukh trek, prefer to go by a private vehicle because of the location of the Kudremukh trek. On google maps, search for “Balagal Bus Stop, State Highway 66, Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka 577124“, you will get a direct route map from your place. From the Balagal bus stop, a raw trail goes to the Mullodi village which is the base of the Kudremukh Trek. Mullodi village is a small village of around 5o houses and there are also a couple of homestays there.

 

23. Chembra Peak Trek, Kerala

Among the sought after places, the trekking trail to the Chembra peak passes through beguiling meadows. Situated in the Wayanad district in Kerala, this is where you can seep in the untamed beauty of the Western Ghats. The peak is at an elevation of 6,900 feet and is popular among amateur trekkers. The initial gradient is steep but it becomes easier and gentler as you near the peak.

24. Rajmachi Trek, Maharashtra

Situated in Pune, Rajmachi is a favoured destination for trekking in India. Perched on an elevation of 2710 feet, the hill fort attracts a large number of amateur and professional trekkers from all over the country and the world. This trek takes a minimum duration of one day.
