Devi Talab Mandir Jalandhar Tourist Guide

Devi Talab Mandir is an ancient Devi Shaktipeeth temple located in the heart of Jalandhar city Punjab. The temple is magnificently structured with an inverted conical shaped shikara, covered with golden plates.  Recently, the Structure of these temples has been modernized.

The main temple of Devi Talab Mandir is encircled with a sacred water pond which is of 200yrs Old, devotees take a holy dip in this pond. There are several temples located at the Devi Talab Mandir. It is a holy place visited by number of devotees and travelers.

Goddess Kaali Temple is another temple located on the other side of Devi Talab Mandir. This temple is prominent as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and is called as Tripurmalini Shaktipeeth. It is believed that, the right breast of Sati fell here.

Bhishan Bhairav is another important temple of lord Shiva which is located in the surroundings of Devi Talab Mandir.

Hariballabh Sangeet Sammelan is the famous mela, held in the limits of Devi Talab Mandir every year. This is a very prominent fair, performed in the memory of Swami Hariballabh. This mela is held in the last week of December every year. Eminent singers and instrument players from the different parts of the country come here to participate in the event. Hariballabh Sangeet Mela is being held every year at Devi Talab Mandir since 125 years.

Amarnath Cave Temple

This temple is another prominent temple built in the recent times, in the limits of Devi Talab Mandir. The model of this temple is an exact replica of Amarnath temple (Jammu and Kashmir). It has become very famous tourist attraction in short time.

Tulsi Temple -

An ancient monument in the City is the temple of Vrinda, wife of Jalandhara, in the Kot Kishan Chand locality. It is now also known as Tulsi Mandir. On one side of the temple is a tank which is said to have been the bathing place of the demon Jalandhara. At some distance is the temple of Gupha, with the image of Annapurna, the goddess of plenty, installed in it. Also nearby lies the Brahm Kund and some temples dedicated to Shiva.Near the Balmiki gate is the Sheetla Mandir, said to be as old as the City of Jalandhar. Within its premises are also two small old temples of Hanuman and Shiva.

Shiva Temple -

The Mandir dates back of the Lodhi Era. It is said that the Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi, in whose territory the city of Jalandhar then fell hadeyed a newly married Hindu girl whom he had wanted to make an object of his lust. She was the devotee of lord Shiva whose serpent saved her honour. Awed by the appearance of this serpent he had begged pardon from the girl and on her bidding he had got this temple built. The temple has an unusual architecture. Its main gate is built in the style of a mosque while the rest of the building is in Hindu style.

Sodal Mandir -

The temple of a child deity where wishes are fulfilled. Thousands of devotees congregate here during the month of September.

Annapurna Devi Temple -

The temple is situated in the old locality of Kot Kishan Chand, Jalandhar. Jalandhar which is very old city has lot of significance in the history. 

Panch  Mandir -

This architecturally beautiful temple is located 21 km from Jalandhar in Kapurthala town. The mandir, the most striking monument in the town was built by Fateh Singh Ahluwaliah, the founder of the Kapurthala State. The main dome in the center is  surrounded by several smaller temples dedicated to different deities.


How to reach Devi Talab Mandir 

By Air -

There is no airport in Jalandhar. The nearest airport is Raja Sansi airport in Amritsar, 80 km away.The airport is well connected by other parts of the Country by regular flights. The Raja Sansi International Airport at Amritsar is located about 11 km from the city centre. Several airlines operate flights from abroad, including Singapore as well as London and Birmingham and Toronto. The airport now handles as many as forty-eight flights every week up from the occasional, intermittent ones some years ago. British airways, Malaysia Airlines, Phuket Airlines, Tajakistan Airlines, Uzbek Airways and Air-India are also lining up to fly here.

Jalandhar City Railway Station is an important station on the Delhi-Amritsar Railway line. It is connected with direct trains to Delhi (375 km), Calcutta, Mumbai, Puri, Nagpur, Jammu Tawi and Deluxe Express to Mumbai, Shatabadi Express to Delhi, Utkal Express to Puri and Howrah Mail to Calcutta.
