About - Gangotri is one of the destinations of Char Dham yatra and is the originating spot of Ganga. The Char Dham consists of four important temples in north of Rishikesh surrounded by the mighty Himalayas, these are Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Out of these Kedarnath is located on the highest altitude of 3500 meters, and Gangotri is 3000 meters high.

Best time to visit -
Mid April to Early June and September to November are the best months to visit Gangotri and enjoy the nature. Gates to the temple open in April but during September there is less rush because climate becomes colder.

Rishikesh Uttarkashi Gangotri tour package – An Overview
The second stop of Char Dham yatra is situated in Gangotri (30.98°N 78.93°E) that is situated in Garhwal section of the state of Uttaranchal (formerly the northwestern section of Uttar Pradesh). This trip starts from Rishikesh (30.103°N 78.294°E) and travels to Gangotri via Uttarkashi (30.73°N 78.45°E) that is town is situated on the banks of river Bhagirathi 1352 m above sea level. Hindi is the main language spoken in this area along with Garhwali and English.
How to reach
Rishikesh is easily accessible by road and rail. The nearest domestic airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun which is 50 km away from Rishikesh. Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi is the nearest International Airport from where you can travel by train or by road. Further journey to Joshimath and Gangotri is covered by road.

5 Day Itinerary for Rishikesh - Uttarkashi - Gangotri tour package
Day 1
Delhi to Rishikesh (250 Kms/ 7hrs): Arrive Delhi Railway Station or Airport from where our representatives will pick you and drive to Rishikesh where you will be transferred to your Hotel. Visit the town for local sightseeing if time permits. Overnight and dinner in hotel.
Things to do in Rishikesh
River Rafting –The Rapids in Rishikesh provide an excellent opportunity for adventure seekers for a perfect spot for rafting. Kaudiyala-Rishikesh is a popular rafting route and very popular between beginners and adrenaline junkies.
Lakshmann Jhula- Lakshmann Jhula is a suspended bridge that extends from one bank of the Ganges to the other. Mythological significance of this bridge is as it is said to be the place where Lakshman crossed the Ganga through on jute-rope-made bridge. Visitors can enjoy some impressive views of the Himalayan ranges from upon the bridge.
Bharat Mandir – Bharat temple is the oldest temple in Rishikesh, it was made in 12th century and it is dedicated to Bharat, the younger brother of Rama. The original temple structure was destroyed in an invasion by Temur in 1398, the temple still preserves a number of Hindu relics.
Triveni Ghat - Hindus believe that it is here that the three holy Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati meet at this ghat. Every morning many pilgrims and devotees holy dip in the waters of the Ganga and rejuvenate themselves. Ganga aarti is conducted here in the evening which is spectacular and grand as the noise of Vedic chants and aarti cover the entire space.

There are many small restaurants and cafes in the market popular between tourists. A group of chotiwala restaurants in the market area are one of the main attractions here.
Day 2
Rishikesh – Uttarkashi (209 km/approx 5 - 6 hrs) : Wake up early morning and go for local sightseeing in Rishikesh from here we will drive to Uttarkashi on SUV. Check in hotel in Uttarkashi. Visit Lord Vishwanath Temple in the evening and explore the surrounding areas. Return to hotel for overnight stay and dinner.
Places to visit around Harsil/Uttarkashi
Mukhwas village: Mukhwas is the residence of Goddess Gangotri in the months of winters because the area of Gangotri receives heavy snow falls during that time. Pilgrims come to Harsil during winters even when the gate is kept close.
Trek to Sattal and Kedar Tal – Both Sattal and Kedal Tal are small day treks from Harsil. Sattal is a group of seven lakes located in between of beautiful surroundings. A seven kilo meter trek can be taken from Harsil to reach Sattal.
Kedar Tal is another trekking point from Harsil that begins from Gagotri. It’s a 14 kilo meter trek through Bhoj Kharak and Kedar Kharak and is more difficult than Sattal. This place offers crystal clear icy water and is located at an elevation of 4, 250 meters above the sea level.
Skiing at Dayara Bugyal in winters: During winters Dyara Bugyal receives heavy snowfall. Snowfall makes it the perfect place for skiing. This is another 14 kilo meter trek from Harsil via Dyara Bhugyal
Day 3
Uttarkashi – Harsil – Gangotri – Harsil (74 km to Harsil/ 1 hour + 25 km Harsil to Gangotri/30 min + Return.): Leave for Harsil early morning by road, check in your hotel in Harsil and leave for Gangotri. Upon arrival take a holy dip in the Bhagirathi River, the origin point of Ganga. Perform pooja in the main temple after which you can visit the surrounding temples or just relax next to the river. Return to hotel for lunch and visit a few more places nearby followed by the spectacular Ganga aarti in the evening. Return to Harsil for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Places around Gangotri
Gaumukh: Gaumukh is a glacier that looks like a cow’s mouth. It can be accessed by a trek and the place is located on more than 4000 km above sea level.
Nandanvan Tapovan: This beautiful and scenic spot is covered with beautiful meadows and surrounded by the Shivaliks that can be accessed by a trek alongside the Gangotri
Bhojvasa: Bhojvasa is an adventure point near Gangotri that provides natural landscapes and camping locations.
Vasuki Tal and Kalindikhal: You can also visit Vasuki Tal and Kalindikhal situated on a height of 5500 meters.
Bhairon Valley: This valley is located at about 10 kilometers from Gangotri is also a great place to visit. This valley provides clear view of the Garhwal region with stunning landscapes and provides adventure lovers with a good trekking point in this area.
Day 4
Harsil – Rishikesh (250 km/6 hours): Leave Gangotri early in the morning, reach Rishikesh by road and check in for overnight stay and dinner in the hotel. You are free to visit surrounding areas later if time permits.
Day 5
Rishikesh – Delhi (250 km/ 6 hours): After breakfast we leave for New Delhi via Haridwar by road. Upon arrival in New Delhi you get transferred to Airport or Railway Station for your further journey and the trip will be terminated.
Stay in New Delhi will be arranged on request.
