Kangra valley Tourism: Itinerary

Day 01: Chandigarh-Chinpurni(Arround 180 km/3-4 hours)

Start the tour from Chandigarh Airport/Railway Station then proceed to Chintpurni. It is arround 180 km and take 3-4 hours to arrive Chintpurni. After arrival take Darshan of Mata Chinpurni. It is one of the most Religious place of Himachal Pradesh. You can Also enjoy Evening Aarti there. After that check into hotel and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Chintpurni-Pragpur(Arround 22 km/40 mnts)

After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to visit pragpur. It is around 22 km and take 40 mintues. India’s first heritage valley is Pragpur lies in kangra valley. Pragpur, a quaint little village in Himachal Pradesh's scenic Kangra Valley. Pragpur is a charming hamlet of architecturally fascinating buildings that line its cobbled lanes. You can visit some local sightseeing of Pragpur like Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple, the Judges Court. After that check into hotel and overnight stay at hotel.

Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple: The one of the famous temple in Prgpur is Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple situated on Beas river. This temple is famous among tourist for its Shivalingam and a holy pond. A fair held here on the occasion of Baisakhi is another major attraction amongst the tourists.

The Judge’s Court: The another famous tourist destination is judges court. Pragpur is home to a country manor, designed in Indo-European tradition called the Judge’s Court. This structure was constructed in 1918 out of the vision of Justice Sir Jai Lal. It also comprises vegetation of mango, lychee, plum, and citrus along with exotic trees of camphor, clove, and cardamom.

Maharana Pratap Sagar Dam/Pong Dam: The another famous attractive location is Maharana Pratap Sagar Dam. This Dam situated across the Beas River. The dam got its name after the great Warrior Maharana Pratap. It was earlier called by the name, Pong dam reservoir. The reservoir in this area is a declared wildlife sanctuary, established in 1983. Most popular species of migratory birds present here includes surkhab, cranes, black buck and pintails. The lake present at this sanctuary is also a popular site for fishing. Fauna species like sambar, barking deer, wild boars, and leopards are also seen here.

Dada Siba Temple: The another famous tourist place in pragpur is Dada Siba temple.  The Dada Siba Temple is situated at 22 km from Pragpur, in the old village of Dada Siba. This village was constructed in 1450 AD and is known for its Dada Siba Temple and water mills. The Dada Siba Temple is famous for its Kangra mural and miniature wall paintings.

Kangra devi Temple: The another famous and holy place in kangra is kangra devi Temple. It is also known as Shri Bajreshwari Devi or vajreshwari Devi or Brajeshwari Devi. It is that Vajreshwari Templeis more than 1000 years old.

Kangra Fort: The one of the famous place in kangra is kangra Fort. About 3 kms from Kangra town, lies the half ruined, but fully magnificent Kangra Fort. The museum a just the entrance of the fort exhibits its older photos from 1905, before it was laid to ruin partially by an earthquake. There are seven entrances into the fort, each embossed with its own idol, one can only gape at the magnanimity of the fort, and the rich carvings of the nearby temples of Adi Narayan, Ambika and a Lakshmi Narayan Temple.

Taal: The another famous tourist destination in pragpur is Taal. This Taal was constructed by the Nehar Committee of neighbouring village. This place is surrounded by many heritage structures like the 250 year old Nehar Bhawan, Dhunichand Bhardial Serai, and Radha Krishna Mandir.

Kareri Lake: The Kareri Lake is a shallow fresh water lake, originating from the melting of Dhauladhar Ranges. It is set a bit off from the main city, hence you may need a good guide and transport readily available beforehand. The Lake is a sight to behold each day at sunrise with the sunlight reflecting off of it, making a true reflective spectacle.
