KUFRI
At 2501m, this is famous for its wide views and ski slopes. An enjoyable walk leads up to the Mahasu Peak. Kufri is ideal for family picnics and outings.
Mashobra
Mashobra is at 2149m, this beautiful subrub is surrounded by thick forests. A small trek from here leads to Sipur which is amidst anicient deadors trees. It consists of many old temples and also hosts an annual fare in April.
The Indian Institute of Advanced Study
An iconic structure that was the former viceregal lodge during the British era. Its lawns and woodland are added attractions. The entry is by tickets (Nominal Charge). A portion of the interior is also open to the public for which a guided tour is conducted.
Jakhu
At 2455m, this is the town’s highest peak and a vantage point for Shimla famous views. The summit is crowned with a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
Chail
Chail is the former summer capital of the Patiala state. It also hosts a cricket stadium that falls under the category of one of the highest stadiums in the world. Chail is ideal for couples and family outings.
Tatapani
Tatapani is one of the few places in the Shimla district to have Hot Natural Sulphur Springs which are situated at the banks of the Satluj river.
St. Michael’s Cathedral
The dressed stone chruch with fine stained glass has a cruciform design. It is located just off the Mall, below the Districts Courts.
State Museum
The State Museum houses a representative collection of Himachal Pradesh rich heritage. Exhibits include archaeological artifacts, carvings, paintings and sculptures. It is Closed on Monday and holidays.
The Glen
At 1830m, this is a thickly wooded ravine through which a stream flows.
Annandale
Annandale is surrounded by a thick deodar forest. It also houses the army base and a Helipad.
Prospect Hill & Kamna Devi
The Prospect Hill is at a height of 1830m and is crowned by a temple dedicated to Kamna Devi, the hill offer spectacular wide views of the city and its environs.
Sankat Mochan
Sankat Mochan temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is considered as one of the most prestigious Hanuman temples.
Tara Devi
Tara Devi is situated at a height of 2044m. It is a thickly wooded hill whose peak has a temple specially dedicated to Tara Devi Mata.
