When to visit Bandhavgarh

During the rainy season it's closed. The park is open from October to June only. There is a slight variation depending on the exact month. Months of April – May – June are considered the best time to do wildlife photography and tiger photography. During this time, we can expect unusual photography of tigers as heat causes animals to remain close to water sources. Limited water sources will enable us to predict the animal location more accurately.

Number Of Tigers In Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh has a very high density of tigers within the folds of its jungles. The 105 km2 of park area open to tourists was reported to have 22 tigers, a density of one tiger for every 4.77 km2. (Population estimation exercise 2001). The population of tigers in the park in 2016 is about 60-65.

With one of the highest known densities of Tigers in India, Bandhavgarh National Park attracts wildlife photographers and enthusiasts from all over the world to experience the realm of the king of the jungle.

We offer Bandhavgarh Jungle Safaris in 4 x 4 Open Suzuki Jeeps with front facing elevated seats. Morning safari is usually from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the evening safari is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., The Park permits entry only after sunrise and exit before sunset, so the timing tends to change with the season. In peak winters safaris start as late at 7:00 a.m and in summers as early as 5:00 a.m.

The park is known as the land of the white tiger, even though white tigers no longer exist here. The last white tiger spotted in the wild was captured here by Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa in 1951.

Other animals in the park include chital deer, sambar deer, barking deer, wild boar, nilgai antelope, four-horned antelope, Indian Bison, wild dog, leopard, blue bull, Indian fox and bear.
