Kareri Village Trek - Weather Details

Summer in Mcleod ganj extends from March to June when the temperature variation is recorded to be ranging between 23°c and 27°c. Mercury sometimes reaches up to 38°c but never goes beyond that. During winters the temperature can drop to -1° and the maximum temperature hardly goes up to 20°c.

Important GuideLines for the Triund Kareri Village Trekkers:

•    Always wait for the Guide during Trek, Please do not go too much ahead of your group & stay in the Group.

•     Always listen to the Guide and his advises, Guide may advise to halt the trek, Delay the trek, Or Push Ahead with the Trek as Environment conditions change very fast in the Dhauladhar Ranges.

•     Always be very careful while on trek as Indian Himalayan Conditions detiorate rapidly.

•     There are no Toilet Facility available in the trek ( Though limited toilet arrangements are available at Triund)

•     You need to go and releive yourself outside behind some rocks, kindly cover the toilet with snow or soil in order not to attract predators.

•     All Food needs to be carried by the porters and Cooks, Hence kindly advise in advance the food Choice

•     Normally it is advised to go with Vegetarian menu. The Vegetarian Menu Choices are as below

•     Morning Breakfast :- Porriage with Milk, Omlette, Bread, Tea, Scrambled Eggs , Or Maggi Noodles

•     Afternoon Lunch :- Rice, Dal, Vegetable Stew, Bread, Boiled Eggs, Indian Pudding

•     Evening Supper :- Indian Fritters or Pakoras, PopCorns, Tea or Coffee or Maggie Noodles

•     If you want Non-Veg Menu, Porters needs to carry the same from the town as Fresh Meat is not available on the trek, On the trek some times deals are made with shephards for goat/lamb, but do not expect much success as shephards/village inhabitants in Dhauladhar circuit are not greedy so they some times do not part with their live stock.

About Triund track 

• Triund is a spectacular ridge beneath the mighty Dhauladhar range. Located about ten kilometres from the bustling city centre of McLeodganj, this trek is almost a rite of passage for travellers visiting this Tibetan city-in-exile.

• Triund offers excellent panoramic views of the Dhauladhars along every bend of its trail

• The Triund trek will take at best four hours to complete and though quite a few manage to do it within two hours. The trail itself isn't too gruelling, even for the unseasoned trekker. If you want to save your energy for the main trek, you could also hire a cab till Gallu Devi Temple, the starting point of the trek, instead of beginning at Mcleodganj. You'll also find a few stalls selling refreshments on the way, so you can even break the trek into parts and rest a while on the way
