Day 1 - Palace on Wheels - Wednesday

Grand Welcome in Delhi:- In Delhi you will be treated like Maharaja & Maharani on welcome by garlanding, Tikka and turban with glass of wine. The Capital city of modern India a city known for its rich valorous and exotic history. The tour starts in the evening with a ceremonial welcome aboard the Palace on Wheels at Safdarjung New Delhi. You will be introduced to your fellow travellers. Feel free to explore your new palace, and acquaint yourself with its various facilities. Relax with a drink at the bar.

Dinner will be served on board in its two restaurants.

 

Day 2 - Palace on Wheels Tour India- Arrive at Jaipur - Thursday

Amber Fort Lunch - Elephant Ride

Lunch at Amber Fort. Soon after reaching at Amber you can enjoy the festively decorated elephant for a ride up to the fort.

After lunch visit of Amber fort the best example of splendid fusion of Rajput and Mugal style of Architecture.

Day 3 - Palace on Wheels - Friday- Swai Madhopur

Visit Ranthambhor Tiger Reserve

Proceed to The Ranthambhore tiger reserve at junction of the Aravali and the Vindhyas is a unique juxtaposition of natural and historical richness, standing out conspicuously in the vast, arid and denuded tract of eastern Rajasthan, barely 14 Kms from Sawai Madhopur.

A 1000 year old Ranthambhore Fort of great historical importance atop a high hill stand tall remain of the historical part cenotaphs, tombs, stepped well, summer palace etc, have all merged harmoniously in to the sprawling forest.

Three big lakes- Padam Talav, Malik Talav and Raj bag- are alike turquoises studded in the vast tract. Though a delicate eco system, Ranthambhore is dynamic in the diversity and density of fauna it supports.

Tiger at the apex of the food chain lords over the kingdom in a subtle way solitary by nature. It operates with stealth. Quite naturally tiger sighting are always a matter of chance, though evidences of its activities are equally exciting other then tigers you may have opportunity to see 24 different species of mammals, spotted deer, sambhar, wild boar, Indian Gazel, Jungal cat, Panthers, Jackal, Hynas Rarely sloth bears, also almost 300 different kind of birds.

Day 3 - Palace on Wheels - Friday, Chittorgarh
 

Arrival 4.00 PM Departure 2.00 AM

Chittorgarh Fort is considered as the largest fort of India, built by various Mauriyan rulers during 5th to 8th century period, this for covers an area of 680 acres most of the structures in side the fort premises are in ruins. But a glimpses at this giant abodes of Rajput still fills on with thrill.

The fort is accessible after ceremony seven gates. Rana Kumbha palace and Padamini Palace in the fort are considered as master pieces of Rajput architecture Padmini Palace had been the residence of beautiful queen Rani Padmini.

In the year 1313 Alaudhin Khilji after knowing about the beauty of the queen attack on the fort. But the Rani performed Johar (Taking once own life by fire).The victory tower built by Maharana Kumbha in the memory of victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujrat in 15th Century. Arrival 8.00 AM Departure 3.30 PM.

Udaipur - The capital of the sirodia Maharanas, enjoy pre-eminen among the Rajput clams of Rajasthan spend the day sight seeing at Udaipur Maharana Udai Singh, Laid the foundation for a new kingdom Udaipur situated at Lake Pichola where the impressive city palace was lavished with aesthetic and imaginative work of art miniature painting was encouraged.

1. Break Fast at Shikar Bari- A hunting lodge of the Mewar ruler where they shot tiger wild boar & other wild life. It is the only calm & screen place to enjoy breakfast with the nature.


2. Lunch at Sun set point-Open air restaurant room where you can enjoy a view of Lake Palace, Jagmandir and can enjoy fresh breeze of Pichola Lake.

Special welcome on arrival and sight seeing of mighty fort followed by lunch at Gorgious Umaid Bhawan Palace.

The city best known for its indigo-hued homes and buildings, Jodhpur is the former capital of the Marwar.

Visit The Mehrangarh Fort was built by Rao Jodha in 1459 and later his successions also added new structures. The forts is situated 120 meters high rocky hill, this fort is witness the lavish and royal history of Rathore. Fort stands on strong and wide walls, which are 20 to 120 feet high and 12 to 70 feet thick its gigantic structure and finely carved intricate sculpture are a treat for eye.

The royal structure boast their own saga of security and beauty the perl palace has a delicately carved stone screen, umaid vilas displays the Rajput miniature paintings and the ajit vilas exhibits musical instruments and the royal costumes. Shopping of local handicrafts.

Visit Umaid Bhawan Palace, Which is worlds finest and largest palace in the world Maharaja Umaid Singh utilized the services of a well known Edwardian architect, henry vaughan lanchester for the construction of this palace. There are 347 rooms in the palace that boast about its grandness and splendor the central dome that has become the identity of the palace 110 feet high. The royal family in still lives a part of the palace also having the old clock museum.

Day 7 - Palace on Wheels Tuesday - 3 hours in Bharatpur

Bharatpur A royal kingdom where the jats, rather than the Rajputs, ruled. Bharatpur's Jat History is not too old, with Suraj Mal establishing a firm stronghold in a region contested by both the Rajputs and the Mughals. Suraj Mal exploits are legendary, and the fort, Lohargarh, or Iron Fort, has a history that recounts it with pride. The only fort in the state to have bastions of mud, these proved meritorious because they simply swallowed up the cannon shells not allowing them to impact.

Visit Keoladeo Ghana National Park one of the finest bird sanctuary in the world was developed by a royal edict when dykes were created so that water could be canalized for the hunting preserve as the Maharaja of Bharatpur wished to create.

Over three hundred species of birds many of them migrant species that come from parts as distant as Siberia and China.

Palace on Wheels Detailed 7Nights Tour

Day 01 - WEDNESDAY: Delhi Depart
Report by 4:30PM at Safdarjung Railway Station for traditional welcome & check-in formalities for Week in Wonderland Train Tour. Time free for photo-shoot with traditionally attired Palace On Wheels staff. Be escorted to your saloon cabins by Personal Attendant for briefing on cabin facilities. At leisure Proceed to Bar Lounge for complimentary welcome drink. Train Departs at 6:30PM & Dinner served onboard.

Day 02 - THURSDAY: JAIPUR

At Jaipur Railway Station Royal Welcome by Elephants & proceed to visit Hindu Temple of Birla Mandir,

St. Albert Museum & Photo stop at Hawa Mahal (Palace Of winds)

Later proceed for excursion to Hill Fort Palace of Amber and enjoy ride up the steep ramparts of the fort on festively decorated Elephants. Also discover the beauty of 16th century well preserved Fort Palace, with huge courtyard’s and built in rare fusion of combined Rajput and Mughal architecture.

Enjoy lunch in 1135 AD Boutique Restaurant, located in Fort premises.

Drive back to Jaipur Town to visit Pink City Palace, museum  & UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar (sun Observatory).Time free for shopping & return to train by 6:00PM & depart. Onboard dinner.

Day 03 - FRIDAY Morning: RANTHAMBHORE- Tiger Reserve
Early morning from Sawai Madhopur Railway Station. Proceed by 06:30AM for jungle safari by 15 Seater Canters to Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. The Jungle is home to Tigers, Panthers, Sloth bears, Pythons, Marsh crocodiles & hundreds of deer & numerous birds.

Return back to train by 09:30AM & depart. Breakfast & lunch onboard.
Note:

Since you drive through dirt tracks in Tiger Forest Reserve, it is suggested to carry sun glasses/scarves to protect dirt getting into your eyes/hair.

Day 03 - FRIDAYAfternoon: CHITTORGARH- Hill Fort

At 04:00PM train reaches Chittorgarh Railway Station & proceed for excursion to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hill Fort of Chittorgarh, spread over a huge plateau - with history dating back to 11th century. Chittorgarh Fort is considered to be the largest fort of India. In the Evening, enjoy Sound & Light program   in fort complex & later return to train for dinner. Train departs early morning on next day.

Day 04 - SATURDAY: UDAIPUR- City of Lakes

Train arrives by 08:00AM & after onboard breakfast proceed to visit 17th Century built - City Palace complex with eleven constituent Mahal (palaces), balconies, towers and cupolas. Also visit Crystal Gallery - housing personal collection of H.H. of Udaipur. Later enjoy boat ride around the world famous "Lake Palace Hotel" atop a small island in Lake Pichola. Proceed for lunch to Fatehprakash Palace Hotel. Time free for shopping and visit the Royal Gardens at Saheliyon Ki Bari & return to train by 3 pm & depart. Dinner onboard.

Day 05 – SUNDAY Morning : JAISALMER: Oasis in desert 

After onboard Breakfast proceed by 09:30AM to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jaisalmer Fort. Straight out of an Arabian Nights fable. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the 15th century built living Fort complex, standing at a height of hundred meters over Jaisalmer town & glows golden in the afternoon sun. The fort is entered through a forbidding series of massive gates leading to a large courtyard. Visit Patwon ki Haveli, one of the largest and most elaborate mansion houses .-which is five storey high & extensively carved. Nearby is located a group of 15th century built Jain Temples, which are beautifully carved & have a library hosting some of the oldest manuscripts of India. Later return back to train for lunch & brief rest

Day 05 – SUNDAY Afternoon : JAISALMER: Sam sand Dunes  

At 4:00PM proceed for excursion to Sam sand Dunes in Thar Desert for Camel joy ride & sunset photo shoot opportunity Later enjoy Cultural Program & Dinner at Heritage Hotel. Return to train by   10:00PM & depart.

Please carry light woolens/jacket/shawl before proceeding  for Sand Dunes excursion  

Day 06 - MONDAY: JODHPUR: Heart of Marwar

Train arrives at 08:00AM & after breakfast proceed for sightseeing of 16th century built Mehrangarh Fort, atop a rocky hill which soars 125 Mts. above Jodhpur town. The Palace complex it is approached by a series of gateways set at an angle so that enemy armies could not charge, with any success. Once past the Fort gates, you have access to breath taking Palatial Apartments (Mahal), overlooking wide courtyards. Inside the fort complex is a museum having wide & impressive collection of Royal dresses & Medieval weapons. Nearby the Fort complex is located, late 19th century built Jaswant Thada, a cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble. Later visit museum at Umaid Bhawan Palace, displaying personal artifacts of H.H. Maharaja of Jodhpur. Lunch at Heritage Hotel. Return to train & depart by 3:30PM.

Day 07 - TUESDAY Morning: BHARATPUR: Bird Sanctuary

At 06:30AM enjoy cycle rickshaw ride in UNESCO world Heritage Site of Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary which houses more than 375 species of both local & migratory birds (from places like Sri-Lanka, Europe, Siberia, China and Tibet). Return to train for breakfast & depart by 08:45AM.

Day 07 - TUESDAY Afternoon: AGRA - City of Taj Mahal

On arrival at 11 AM at Agra Railway station proceed to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Agra Fort, seat of power of the mighty Mughal Empire.  Proceed for lunch at 5 star hotel. Highlight of your journey is visit the Taj Mahal, one of seven wonders of modern world & a flawless architectural wonder built in white marble. Time free for shopping.

Later return to train for onboard dinner & depart.
 

Day 08 - WEDNESDAY :NEW DELHI Return

Train returns to Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station by 05:30AM.
Check-out by 07:15AM after early breakfast.
