Our representatives will pick you up from New Delhi airport/station and arrange your travel to Rishikesh by AC Volvo bus where you’ll be transferred to a hotel for stay and freshening up. Upon arrival check in to your hotel and afternoon you are free for sightseeing in the city or go for river rafting. Stay and sightseeing in Rishikesh will depend on your arrival timings.

Overnight with dinner in Rishikesh

After having breakfast we will leave for Joshimath by road and will stop Dev prayag where Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet and become to holy River Ganga. After reaching Joshimath you will be transferred to the hotel and we will obtain final permission to venture into NDNP from forest authorities while you will be free for sightseeing around Joshimath area and enjoy the beautiful scenic surroundings around the Himalayan valley.


Joshimath was established by Adi Shankaracharya as a religious centre and serves as home of Sri Badrinathji during winters. You can visit temples of Nav Durga and Narsingh in this area. Visitors admire Joshimath for its scenic beauty.

Overnight stay with dinner in Joshimath


We leave Joshimath after early breakfast and reach Lata to trek upto Lata village that a 1.5 km walk. Visit ancient Nanda Devi temple en route and explore the culture and heritage of this region. Lata is the birthplace of the Chipko movement in the Himalayas along with treks through the forests that they hugged and protected.

Start for another 8.5 kilometer steep trek up to Lata Kharak that takes around 9 hour to complete. Overnight stay and dinner at Lata Kharak Camp

The walk from Lata village is beautiful and serene where you pass in between of forests of Oak, Rhododendron and Pine. Trek to Lata Kharak is probably the toughest part of entire Nanda Devi Biosphere trek that involves a 1524 m steep ascent with a break at Belta.

The peaks of Nanda Devi such as Ronthi & Nanda Ghunti, Bethartoli, Nanda Khat can be seen from very near at Lata Kharak along with panoramic views of Lata village, Tapovan, Dhak & Bhavisya Badri.

Overnight stay and dinner at camp

Morning starts with a clear view of the Himalayan ranges and we start to climb on the route to Jhandi Dhar. We can visit Tolma village in the route followed by a steep trail to Bagfyana Pass that continues upto 500 meters. After Bagfyana pass you pass the Satkul gorge to reach Dharani pass via a continuously ascending and descending trail. From here you can get a majestic clear view of Nanda Devi peak. The vast panoramic views of Kunwari pass, Auli, Urgam Valley and Lata Village can also be seen from here.

Overnight camping at Dharani Pass


Trek in the morning begins for Dharanai pass via Malthuni - Bethratoli ridges of the inner and outer sanctuary that form a magnificent pass. This pass descents upto Rani Kholi and up to Donidhar. There is a steep descent of 750m from Donidhar to Debrugheta. Depending on your luck you can spot the mountain animals like black bear, musk deer and monal pheasant in this area. Debrugheta is a beautiful dense forest location as a part of Nanda Devi reserve. After spending time at Debrugheta we will return to Dharani Pass where we will spend the night and dinner in tent.

We return to Jhandidhar by a 7.5 km trek followed by a 4.5 km steep trek to Hitoli taking a route between the forests of Rhododendron, Birch and Fir. These forests provide an excellent location for birding. After crossing the forest we reach Hitoli campsite for overnight stay and dinner.

We start early morning after breakfast for a 5 km trek towards Tolma village. We cross the rich forest of Thuner, Kail, Deodar and Surai which is filled with some rare and exquisite species of birds. From here we move to Surai Thotha village by a 3 km trek from where we leave for Joshimath by road for overnight stay and dinner in hotel.

We check out of hotel after breakfast and start to travel for New Delhi via Haridwar by Volvo or SUV depending on your package. Upon reaching New Delhi you get transferred to Airport/Railway Station where your trip ends.

Nanda devi national park

About flora and fauna found in abundance in this region is listed below.

• Flora

The buffer zone of the forest houses mountain trees and flowers like fir, birch, rhododendron, and juniper. The region around the Nanda Devi Glacier is relatively dry compared to the outer trekking zone and hence there is not much vegetation. Nanda Devi Biosphere is home to around 312 floral species and around 17 of which are considered rare.

• Fauna

Nanda Devi is an excellent location for wildlife and birding enthusiasts. This park inhibits around 80 species of animal population like bharal, Himalayan tahr, serow, goral, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, brown bear, leopard, common langur, Himalayan musk deer etc.

Also there is around 80 species of birds spotted in this park that includes warblers, gresbreaks, rose finches and Himalayan kingfisher.

  • It is home to Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve. The whole area is home to incredible flora and fauna, along with some major glaciers.

  • Nanda Devi - highest peak of India (which is completely in India) is in Uttarakhand.

  • Nanda Devi National Park is situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The spectacular panoramas of peaks encircling the National Park are Trishul (7120 m) Dunagiri (7066 m) Nanda Devi (7817 m) Nanda Devi East (7430 m) Bethartoli (6352 m) etc.

This area is located within the Western Himalayas Endemic Bird Area (EBA) is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and it inhibits mountain animals like snow leopard, Bharal etc.

Zero Point: (13.0 km from Nanda Devi Temple)

A guided trek up to Zero Point is the most recommended way to explore the green beauty of the Wildlife sanctuary. One can see the panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like Kedarnath Peak, Shivling, and Nanda Devi from Zero point. Zero point is the highest point in Binsar National Park. Tarikhet: (2.0 km from Nanda Devi Temple)

Tarikhet is a Block situated in Almora district in Uttarakhand which gives “Majestic View”. Situated in rural region of Uttarakhand, it is one of the 12 blocks of Almora district. According to the administration records, the block code of Tarikhet is 63. The block has 268 villages and there are total 14406 families in this Block.

Bright End Corner: (2.2 km from Nanda Devi Temple)

Bright End Corner is situated at the end the Almora ridge from where people can enjoy panoramic sights. The place is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda who spent some time here. Because of its natural beauty and tranquility, Bright End Corner is considered one of the best spots for meditation in Almora. Bright End Corner is known to offer breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset.  

Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum: (2.0 km from Nanda Devi Temple)

The Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum situated off the Mall which is blimp abounding of photos and army memorabilia relating to the Kumaon regiment. These cover weapons captured in assorted battles, and the casket of General TN Raina. The Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum and Memorial was built in Ranikhet in 1974. This Regiment Museum showcases the history of Kumaon and Garhwal regiments. It as well displays admired treasures like Rani Jhasi's argent scepter, Chinese rifles from the 1962 war, a World War-II Japanese wireless acreage blast and abstracts accompanying to the Kargil War.

Gobind Vallabh Pant Museum: (0.1 km from Nanda Devi Temple)

The museum is known for possessing a varied and good collection of ancient antiques which date back to the Katyuri and Chand dynasties that ruled Uttarakhand for years. The museum also houses a good collection of an ancient form of Kumauni paintings which are called Aspen in the museum. The Govind Ballabh Pant Museum is one of the popular tourist destinations in Almore city. It was built in dedication to Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant’s contribution as a freedom fighter as well as for his developmental efforts towards Uttarakhand.

Best time To Visit Nanda Devi

Nanda Devi has a very distinct climate. For six months of the year after October/November, the area is covered with snow, while for the rest of the year. it is has a dry climate with heavy rainfall from June to August. April to June is the best time to visit the park when there is a minor rise in temperature and snow melts giving time for beautiful flora to grow around.

How to Reach Nanda Devi

By air - The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant at Dehradun at a distance of around 295 km from the Nanda Devi National Park. There are regular flights to Delhi from this airport. The Nearest International airport is in New Delhi and is about 500 km away from Joshimath.

By rail - The nearest railway station is in Rishikesh but the number of trains coming here is less, Haridwar is the main station that is connected to all the major cities of the country. From here you can visit Joshimath by road.

By road - Metaled roads are there till Joshimath from where one has to trek to reach this place. The place is inaccessible for six months of the year and it is only in summers that treks to this region can be organized.

Places to see in joshimath

Hemkund Saheb: Considered to be one of the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage centres, Hemkund Saheb also makes an ideal trekking spot.

Valley of Flowers: If one is fond of flowers then is a must visit place for him. Witness the endless galore of multihued blooms and you'll just wish to stay in this oblivion flowery world forever.

Badrinath: This sacred site is one of the most sacred pilgrimage centre of the state and is also one four holy sites or 'Char Dhams', visited by numerous pilgrims year after year.

Auli: Auli is nestled in the lap of the snow-capped peaks of Garhwal Himalayas in the Chamoli District of western Uttar Pradesh, near the world famous religious shrine of Badrinath. At an altitude of 2,500-3,050 meters above sea level, Auli's well-dressed slopes are flanked by coniferous and oak forests and offer a panoramic view of Mt. Nanda Devi, Mana Parbat, Dunagriri, Beethartoli, Nilkanth, Hathi Parbat and Ghori Parbat.

How to reach Joshimath

By Road: The best option is to travel from Delhi by road. Delhi to Haridwar is 229 kms. on National Highway no. NH-47 the climb from Haridwar to Joshimath is 257 km and takes about 13 to 15 hours. The ascent to Joshimath winds through Rishikesh, Srinagar, Karnaprayag, and Chamoli. We suggest a stay at Rishikesh/Rudraprayag to break the journey if required.

By Train: Nearest Railway Station is Rishikesh / Haridwar which is connected from Delhi by Shatabdi Exp., from Bombay by Bandra-Dehradun Exp. and from Calcutta by Howrah-Doon Exp. and from Lucknow by Gorakhanath/Doon Exp. Rishikesh to Joshimath by road. Road from Joshimath to Badrinath opens Mid May-mid November subjected to normal snowfall

By Air: Nearest Airport is Jolly Grant near Dehradun (280 Km). Indian Airlines fly thrice from Delhi and Jagson/Archna Airways also regulates their flights. Very soon a new airport at Gauchar (92 Km.) will be operational within a year.

December to February is the best time to visit Auli for skiing. May to November is the best season in Auli for outdoor trips and sightseeing.

Summer (mid March to June):  June is the hottest month in Auli with a maximum temperature of 22° Celsius which will give the feeling of 27°C. Nights during summer are relatively cooler with a minimum temperature of 20° Celsius. The moderate climate of Auli during summer is ideal for outdoor trips and activities. 

Monsoon (July to October):  The temperature gets lower reaching up to a maximum of 15° Celsius and a minimum of 10° Celsius. Light woollen clothes and rain coats must be carried while visiting Auli during monsoon.

Valley was declared a national park in 1982, and now it is a World Heritage Site. Valley of Flowers National Park is nestled high in West Himalaya is renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty.  A number of plant species are internationally threatened; several have not been recorded from elsewhere in Uttarakhand. The diversity of threatened species of medicinal plants is higher than has been recorded in other Indian Himalayan protected areas.

Valley of flowers best time to visit

Auli trek

Auli is a popular tourist destination situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand of North India. It is located in the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 2,500 meters. The weather in Auli remains cool and pleasant all through the year.

Auli offers some of the finest slopes of the Himalayan range where you can trek. A peak ranging from about 2500 to 3000 m, Auli has some well defined trekking routes for trekking enthusiasts where you can trek up to Himalayan peaks such as Nanda Devi, Kamet, Mana Parvat, Dunagiri, and Joshimath from Auli. Other smaller trekking ranges are Gorson, Tali, Kuari Pass, Khulara and Tapovan.

Nanda devi trek

Nanda Devi in the highest peak in Indian Garhwal Himalaya. The mountain itself in surrounded by a number of peaks over 21,000ft, making it an extremely difficult mountain to access. This circle of peaks forms is known as the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. Nanda Devi areas have attracted geologists, geographers, Trekkers and lovers of nature.

The Nanda Devi Trek starts from the magnificent town of Munsyari(2290 mts) and the route ascends up the Gori Ganga river gorge which separates the Nanda Devi group from the beautiful peaks of the Panch Chulli group. You can trek through the Gori Ganga gorge which is narrow initially, then opens up into the wide expanse of the gentler trans-Himalayan region. The location is exquisite and we usually spend a full day over here. The return trip is completed in four days from here back to the Wayfarer Mountain Resort at Munsyari.

Places to visit near Auli

Gurso Bugyal: Perched at an elevation of 3,056m above sea level Gurson Bugyal is a picturesque location from where you can view imposing Himalayas like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Dron. 3 km trek from Auli will lead you to this scenic location.

Trishul Peak: The three Himalayan mountain peaks of western Kumaun as a whole forms the Trishul peak. It is having a height of 7120 mt. The Trishul group forms the southwest corner of the ring of peaks which encloses the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. In 1907, the main peak, Trisul I, became the first peak over 7,000 mt to have ever been climbed by someone. The peak can be best viewed from Kausani or during the Roopkund Trek.

Nandaprayag: Situated at the confluence of two holy rivers- Nandakini and Alaknanda, Nandaprayag is the entry point to pilgrim centers of Badrinath and Kedarnath. It makes for a scenic pilgrim centre. The Gopalji temple on the banks of Alaknanda attracts many devotees every year.

Chattrakund: Chattrakund is a small lake of sweet crystal clear water near Auli, Joshimath. Located at an elevation around 3300 mts above sea level and this beautiful place is surrounded by a dense forest & the lake holds sweet water.

Bhavishya Badri: Bhavishya Badri is situated 3.0 km by foot from Tapovan is located in the centre of a dense forest. The place stands at an elevation of 2,744 m and is one of the five badri shrines. Other badri shrines are Badrinath, Yog Dhyan Badri, Adi Badri and Vridha Badri. Name of the place is corroboration to the belief that it will be worshipped as the shrine of Badrinath in the future. Tourists can explore the famous lion headed image of Narasimha present in a temple which is incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
