Naina Devi Temple: The deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two eyes. The temple was destroyed by the drastic landslide of 1880, and was later rebuilt because the temple was of great importance amongst locals. Naina Devi Temple is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake.

Naini Lake (Nainital): Amidst seven mountains touching the sky, the heart of the place is a ravishing lake showering its beauty with pristine and stagnant water. Naini Lake has earned respect since beginning and even the district is named after this enchanting lake. The lake offers ample opportunities for adventure lovers as well with yachting, boating and paddling facilities. One can explore the lake from one end to another watching the dynamic sun setting for the dusk providing peace and tranquility. Naini Lake is divided into two parts Mallital and Tallital. The north end of the Lake is called Mallital and the southern end of the Lake is known as Tallital. Both ends of the Naini Lake have shopping centres with luxury and varied shops.

The Mall Road: Mall road nexuses Mallital with Tallital and thus is busiest road of the town. During peak season (May and June) vehicles are not allowed to enter mall road so that the trade keeps on strolling as this point is famous amongst tourists. Mall road is now named as Govind Ballabh Pant Marg. The road is filled with hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, banks, travel agencies and street shops as well.

Zoo:  Govind Ballabh Pant high altitude zoo is situated around 2km from the bus station. The zoo is set at an elevation of 2100mts above sea level providing high altitude animals a sufficient and habitat like environment. The Zoo consists of animals like Leopard , Hill Fox, Siberian Tiger (snow tiger), Palm civet cat, Wolf, Silver Pheasants, Barking Deer, Sambhar, Monkeys, Rose ringed Prakeet, Himalayan black bear, Ghoral, White Peacock. The zoo is closed on Mondays and the entry ticket is of Rs. 10. Feeding animals is strictly prohibited in the zoo and eatables are also not allowed (you can take liquid diets).

Aerial Ropeway:  The Aerial Ropeway commences at Mallital and is connected with Snow view point situated at a breathtaking elevation of 2275mts above sea level. Snow view point offers the majestic views of puissant Himalayan range. Two trolleys carries passenger from the flatts to snow view point in approximately two and a half minutes of time. The capacity of the trolley cabin is 11 persons or 800kgs of weight. The trolley is opened for seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. The ticket for adult is Rs. 100 and Rs. 60 for child.

Eco Cave Garden:  Eco Cave Garden is located one kilometer above Mallital near Kumaon University Campus. This spot is a latest tourism spot of Nainital. Cave Garden offers caves of different kinds of animals which you can explore by going in it. There are no real animals there for sure. Entry Ticket: Rs.10.

Naina Peak/ China Peak: Naina peak is situated at a breathtaking altitude of 2615mts above sea level. Naina Peak is the highest point of the town and is located 6km north to Mallital. Naina peak is also known as China peak and Cheena peak. Naina peak offers invigorating views of the enchanting snow clad peaks of the mighty Himalayan range, the bird’s eye view of the pristine Naini Lake and the Nainital town itself. In order to enjoy the celestial beauteousness of this point one must trek 6km by foot or can hire a pony from Mallital or Snow view. But remember the trek of 6km is worth the view from the summit of the Naina peak.

How to reach Delhi to Nainital

By Flight:  There is no connectivity between Delhi to Nainital, there is no airport are available in Nainital

By Bus:  Delhi to Nainital buses is available. The distance Delhi to Nainital is 300 km by road. It would take around 9 hours. Buses are the popular mode of transport between the two places and the ride is also very scenic. Buses ply regularly between the two places and there are also private buses that can be taken.

By Train: There is no railway station found in Nainital. You can take a train to Kathgodam which will take 7hours and then drive for another 45 min to reach Nainital. There are no direct trains between the two towns as is no station in Nainital.

Visit Corbett National Park:  Corbett Tiger Reserve has captured the imagination of many with its diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. The natural uniqueness of the area was recognized long ago as a result of which in 1936 Corbett attained the distinction of becoming the first National Park to be established in mainland Asia.

The area came under 'Project Tiger' in 1971 when Gov. of India launched this ambitious conservation project.  Corbett National Park covers an area of 521 sq. km and together with the neighboring Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary and Reserve Forest areas, forms the Corbett Tiger Reserve.  The most famous of Corbett's wild residents are the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Asiatic Elephant. In addition to that with over 550 species of avifauna Corbett is one of the richest bird regions of the Country and has been declared as an 'Important Bird Area' (IBA) by Birdlife International.

Watch Sun Disappear at Hanuman Garhi:  Most of the hill stations offer a spectacular view of the sunset, where the sun slowly descent towards the hills and then simply hides behind the massive mountain the sun here doesn’t hide behind the mountains it simply DISAPPEARS, it does! At Hanumangarhi, which is 3kms from Nainital City, you can watch the sunset on the horizon and believe me it is one of the most enchanting views that one can apparently catch in Nainital

Trek to China Peak:  Naina Peak or Cheena Peak, this is the highest point of Nainital and that is why it has always been the major tourist attraction. Today, many people trek to China Peak in order to avail themselves an extra dose of adventure. The trek is easy one, where you will pass through thick Deodar, Cypress and Pine forest. f you are in Nainital you must trek to Naina Peak for some adrenalin rush.

Bhimtal: Bhimtal is 22 km far from Nainital The prime attraction of Bhimtal is the Bhimtal Lake which has a beautiful island at the centre. Apart from being a main tourist destination, it is also the mini district Headquarters since most of the offices of the district administration has been shifted here. Bhimtal is named after Bhima of Mahabharata.

Ranikhet: Ranikhet is located 60 km from the city center of Nainital. It is a very beautiful hill station. According to mythology, Ranikhet had won the heart of Rani Padmini, who was the Queen of Raja Sudhardev. Since the Queen chose Ranikhet as her place for her abode, this place came to be known Ranikhet ever since. Ranikhet, in Hindi means 'Queen's Field'.

Ghorakhal: Ghorakhal is a place that is famous for the temple of Lord Golu that is located here. Lord Golu is worshipped by the local people

Naina Devi Temple: The temple is situated at the top of Naina Hill. It is believed that Goddess Sati’s eyes fell at the exact same spot where this temple stands, which attracts a great number of devotees.

Mukteshwar: Mukteshwar is situated at kumaon hills as with most of the other places of Uttarakhand, Mukteshwar provides a beautiful view with the Himalayan ranges surrounding it. From here, one can view the second highest peak of India, Nanda Devi. A renewable park which is developed by The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) is also a prime attraction of Mukteshwar. This park uses solar energy for its electricity needs.

Sat Tal: Sat tal is located at a distance of about 23 km. from Nainital and at an altitude of 1,370 meters above sea level. It is a very beautiful place which has seven lakes which are set in the oak forests. All these lakes are situated at an altitude of 1,370 meters. In Hindi, the word Sat Tal means seven lakes. This is one of the few places which are still un spoilt and unpolluted.

Corbett Museum: The former house of the legendary hunter and tracker-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett is now known as the Corbett Museum located at Choti Haldwani on the outskirts of Kaladhungi, which is between Nainital and the park. This amazing museum contains manuscripts, fishing nets, maps, guns and also his last hunt. The museum offers you a glimpse into the life and activities of Jim Corbett and other distinguished people. You can shop for handicrafts or books about the national park at the Dhangarhi Souvenir Shop.

Snow View Point: The viewpoint is also known as “Oldest Viewpoint” offers mesmerizing views of the snow clad peaks of the majestic Himalayan range. The peak is connected by motorable roads and an aerial ropeway. Most people also opt to trek to the point and enjoy the views of snow-capped hills like Nanda Kot and Nanda Devi.

How to reach Nainital from Mumbai by air

There is no direct connectivity of flight between Mumbai and Nainital. You can take IndiGo/ cab from Mumbai to New Delhi then take Delhi Transport Corporation from New Delhi to Nainital.

Being a hill station, Nainital does not have direct air connectivity. The nearest airport is located at Pantnagar, which lies at a distance of 65 kilometres from Nainital. Most of the air traffic to Pantnagar airport includes private chartered flights. There are no commercial flights operational to and from here.

The second nearest airport is in New Delhi which is approximately 290 kilometres away from the central town in Nainital. Delhi airport is well-connected to different cities across the globe. You can hire private taxis from the airport.

Kempty Falls: Located on the way between Dehradun -Mussoorie roads, Kempty Falls is a beautiful location to take a dip in the water falling from an altitude of 40 feet. It offers a mesmerizing panoramic view as the water falls from a great height. The pond formed at the bottom of the falls make an excellent spot for swimming, fishing, and bathing. A flight of stairs leads to the pond where one can soak in the fun with friends and family.

Gun Hill: Gun Hill is the second highest peak of Mussoorie and one of the most famous destinations of the hill station. Gun Hill offers an enchanting view of some of the highest Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Pithwara and the Gangotri group, along with a picturesque view of the Mussoorie town and the Doon Valley. One of the most exciting features of this place is a 400 m thrilling Ropeway ride to land from this exceptionally beautiful, misty peak.

Benog Wildlife Sanctuary: Famous for its almost-extinct mountain quails, deer, leopards and red-billed blue magpie, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is well known to house rare species of birds and offers an excellent trail of pine-clad slopes surrounded by Himalayan peaks for a refreshing walk.

Nag Tibba Trek: Situated near Mussoorie, Nag Tibba is a relatively unknown and a very exhilarating trekking trail. Known as one of the best weekend treks, the place offers a climb of about 10,000 ft amid the snow clad mountains.

Peak, Nag Tibba is the highest peak of the Nagtibba range with an altitude of 9915m and is said to serve as a home to Nag Devta. The trail of the expedition is also highly fascinating and spectacular, being adorned with rich variety of flora and fauna, a rustic Gharwali lifestyle and oak and deodar forest housing exotic birds and wildlife. The highlight of the trip is the stunning view of Bandarpoonch Peak, Kedarnath Peak, Gangotri Peak and Doon Valley from the Nag Tibba.

Haridwar main temple
