About Mansa Devi in Haridwar & Panchkula

The Mansa Devi temple Haridwar to be one of the oldest holy places in the town of Haridwar. It is visited by tourists from all corners of the world. The temple is located atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills, the southernmost mountain chain of the Himalayas. The temple also known as Bilwa Tirth is one of the Panch Tirth (Five Pilgrimages) within Haridwar. Devotees who want their wishes to be fulfilled by Mansa tie threads to the branches of a tree located in the temple. Once their wishes are fulfilled, people come back again to the temple to untie the thread from the tree. This temple opens daily from early morning until evening.

There are two ways to reach this temple:

On Foot: You can reach this temple on foot but walking requires of one and a half kilometer hike uphill.

By Cable Car: Second way to reach Mansa Devi Temple by cable car. Many people prefer to take the cable car (also referred to as a rope-way or "Udan Khatola" as the locals call it) up, and walk down. The first cable car starts running at 7 a.m. during April to October, and 8 a.m. the rest of the year. Tickets cost 84 rupees per person, return. The departure point is centrally located in town.

Mansa Devi Temple Panchkula is located around 10 km from chandigarh. According to the Hindu mythology, the head of Devi Sati had fallen over here. Thousands of devotees visit the shrine from various parts of the country, and especially during the Navratra mela, this number rises to lakhs everyday for the nine auspicious days.

Day 01: Arrival at Chandigarh + Mansa Devi Temple Tour – Panchkula

Arrive at Chandigarh airpot or railway station  and you will transfer to hotel for freshn up and after get ready you will proceed to Mansa Devi Temple in panchkula which is famous temple of Panchkula. Bhima Devi Temple, Pinjore: Alexander Cunningham, during his explorations in 1878-79, found in 27-line inscription of 10th century AD mentioning Panchapura from which modern name Pinjore is derived. The mention of Panchpura in the Handi stone inscriptions (1167 AD) also seem to refer to this place. The name Pinjore also appears to be based on the myth that the Pandavas had stayed here during the course of their exile.

Cactus Garden: A visit to Panchkula is incomplete without making a trip to the Cactus Garden. Officially known as National Cactus and Succulent Botanical Garden and Research Centre, the garden is Asia’s biggest garden devoted to rare and endangered species having more than 3,500 species. Genus Caralluma of Indian origin are seen here with some of the endangered species. Collection of Indian succulents here is considered the largest in the world.

Nada Sahib Gurudwara: The Gurudwara Nada Sahib is situated in Panchkula on the bank of Ghaggar river in Shivalik foothills. It is a famous religious place of the Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh - the the tenth guru halted here while travelling from Paonta Sahib to Anandpur Sahib after the Battle of Bhangani in 1688. Nadu Shah Lubana of the adjoining village served him and his followers with food and milk. The place remained obscure until Bhai Motha Singh, who belonged to a village nearby, discovered the sacred spot and raised a platform to perpetuate the memory of the Guru's visit. Nothing more is known of the devout Motha Singh nor of the date of the establishment of the Manji Sahib, except that the shrine was under the Dharmarth Board of Patiala and East Punjab States Union in 1948 and was taken over by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee after the merger of the state with the Punjab in 1956.

Yadavindra Gardens (Pinjore): Pinjore is a part of Panchkula district of the state of Haryana. It is located at the confluence of river Jhajjar and Kaushalya (tributaries of Ghaggar) in the lower Shivalik ranges. It is an ancient, religious and historical place and derives its name from Panchpura- the town of Pandavs.

Day 02: Chandigarh City Site Seeing + Chandi Mandir

After breakfast you will visit very famous place of Chandigarh that is Chandi Mandir is which dedicated to Chandi, the goddess of power. Sukhna Lake: It is a beautiful lake that lies in the foothills of Shivalik range. The unique thing about Sukhna is that it is a manmade lake. It is a 3 km long lake that was created in the year 1958. Zakir Hussain Rose Garden: Zakir Hussain Rose Garden Asia's largest Rose Garden and is spreaded over 30 acres of land having over 1600 different species or roses. These have been planted beautifully carved out lawns and flowers beds. Like the cultural zone which is just across the road in sector 10,this was also planned by Dr. M.S. Randhawa as his interest in horticulture and fondness for flowers was profuse. Every year, either at the end of February or beginning of March, a big festival known as Rose Festival, is celebrated at this garden. Over 20,000 people visit this festival. It’s one of the great celebrations in the city. There are lots of competitions, cultural celebrations and many other events.

Day 03: Procced to Haridwar

Things to do in Mansa Devi Temple

Devotees who visit the temple usually like to take some Parasad (offerings) for the Goddess. There's no shortage of sellers, either where you board the cable car or outside the temple. Bags containing a coconut and flowers sell for around 50 rupees, and it's possible to buy plates of flowers for around 20 rupees.
