Har Ki Pauri: It literally means footsteps of Lord. It is ghat in Haridwar. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu had visited Brahmakund at Har Ki Pauri. It is a place where many festivals include Kumbh Mela take place.

Chandi Devi: It is located on top of the Neel Parvat. It was built in 1929 by King Suchat Singh but the temple is famous because the Murti was installed by Adi Shankaracharya. It is one of the 5 pilgrim places within Haridwar.

Mansa Devi: It is located on Bilwa Parvat. It is famous because it is believed the abode of Manasa is a form of Shakti and it has emerged from mind of Shiva. It is also one of the 5 pilgrim places in Haridwar.

Ram Jhula: Ram jhula is located 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) north of Rishikesh at Muni Ki Reti. There are some of the Hindu ashrams and religious centers like "Gita Bhawan", and "Swargashram" located here. It is famous by the name of the goddess Rama. Ram jhula is also known as Shivananda Jhula.

 

Lakshaman Jhula: Lakshman Jhula connects the borders of the Tehri and Pauri district. The Trayambakeshwar Temple and Sri Raghunathji’s Temple are the attractions around Laxman Jhula. The name of this bridge is provide Laxman jhula because the Rama younger brother Laxman crossed the ganga by the jute wood on this bridge

 

The Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat:

Most spectacular event to watch on Earth is the ganga Aarti. Triveni Ghat is the main attractive place at the sight of the Ganga River. In the evening Maha Aarti of Goddess Ganga, give the beautiful seen for the tourist. In the evening you can see the prayer to the Ganga by the Saints.

Rishikesh is a grand event, organized daily between 6:00PM and 7:00PM also called as the Maha Aarti, is an evening prayer performed on the banks of the River Ganga.  The event happens every day and is a must attend. The aarti is accompanied with chanting of bhajans, beating drums and bells. People lit oil diyas, put them on flower-filled leaf boats and release in the holy waters of the river. These illuminated lamps in the evening provide a beautiful view. You can buy oil lamps from the nearby shops and be a part of the religious custom. The religious hymns recited in praise of the Ganges are sure to rejuvenate your mind and soul.

 

After breakfast visit the city tour of Rishikesh and cover the famous site seeing which includes Neelkantha Mahadev Temple & Shri Tryambakeshwar Temple. After having a lunch in Inderlok Hotel we visit some rest of the places which includes Vashishta Gufa, The Beatles Ashram and Gita Bhawan.

The name of the Vashishta Gufa is given beyond the name of Rishi Vashisht (The one of the Saptarishis). Rishi Vashistha was one of the authors of ancient Indian scripture Rigveda. Vashistha was also Guru of Lord Ram, and he was also Rajpurohit (Chief priest) of Ikshwaku family (Surya Vansh).  

Gita Bhawan: The Gita Bhavan is part of Gita press, the press which publishes the Hindu religious books or literature. This place is also famous for its cloth store, sweet shop and Ayurvedic pharmacy. It is close to Laxman Jhoola and never too crowded. A large number of devotees visit and stay here for holy Ganges dip, listening to discourses and sadhana & meditation.

 

The Beatles Ashram: The Beatles Ashram, Rishikesh, in northern India, to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation (TM) training session at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This is very old building, use by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for his Sadhana (Meditation). It is very nice place to see the adventures history.

Kempty Falls:  Kempty Falls, situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft, is one of the popular tourist places of Mussoorie. It is a beautiful waterfall, which falls from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain it is a wonderful surrounding to just sit and listen to the sound of the water which falls on the rocky bed of the water below among the lush green vicinity

 

Gun Hill: Gun Hill is one of the popular tourist attractions of Mussoorie, possessing historical significance dating back to pre-independence the place lies at an altitude of 2,024 meters above sea level and offers some majestic views of the surroundings. One can enjoy a thrilling ropeway ride to Gun Hill, the second highest peak of Mussoorie(2122 mts). The peak offers a panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges. Gun Hill can be easily reached by taking a ropeway ride, which is operated frequently for transfer of passengers. In addition to this, tourists can also cover a path from The Mall to reach the location by foot.

 

Mussoorie Lake:  A newly developed picnic spot situated on Mussoorie-Dehradun road the lake was recently developed as a picnic spot by the city board and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development authority. A nice small lake, which is created by a natural water fall you can see duck swimming in lake, you can ride a paddle boat here as well and enjoy the amazing surroundings.

 

Sir George Everest’s House:  The house belonged to the famous surveyor and geographer, Sir George Everest, after whom the world’s highest peak is named. He stayed in Mussoorie for around a good 30 years and the house showcases some interesting facts about the famous personality.

 

Jwalaji Temple: The place enshrines a centuries old idol of the Hindu deity Goddess Durga, the manifestation of supreme beauty and deadly power in the Hindu mythology. It is located t a distance of around 9 kilometers west from Mussoorie

Surkanda Devi Temple: The temple of Surkanda Devi is 33 kms from Kaddukhal and one has to trek about 2 kms. The temple of Surkanda Devi is situated on the top of the mountain and is of great religious significance. A fair is held every year on “Ganga Dussehra” during May-June in which thousands of people participate.

Kunjapuri:  Kunjapuri temple gives a picturesque view of the Himalayan region it is located at an altitude of 1645 meter.

Potato Farm:  In Dhanaulti, the large expanses of potato farm also known as Aloo Khet, is a place where the tourists can have a walk. The pond formed at the bottom of the falls make an excellent spot for swimming, fishing, and bathing. A flight of stairs leads to the pond where one can soak in the fun with friends and family. Quite famous among the tourists as a picnic spot, this perennial waterfall is crowded almost throughout the year.

Gun Hill: Gun Hill is the second highest peak of Mussoorie and one of the most famous destinations of the hill station. Gun Hill offers an enchanting view of some of the highest Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Pithwara and the Gangotri group, along with a picturesque view of the Mussoorie town and the Doon Valley. One of the most exciting features of this place is a 400 m thrilling Ropeway ride to land from this exceptionally beautiful, misty peak.

Cloud's End: This lovely place is 6 km west off the Library; the Cloud's end marks the end of Mussoorie. It is covered by thick jungles and tracks 2 km up to the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary. It offers a lovely walking track. This place offers a great view of Aglar River Valley.

Jwala Devi Temple: Located at an divine altitude atop Benog Hills, the Jwala Devi Temple offers lovely view of the Doon Valley and the milky white Yamuna.

Dhanaulti: A small hamlet towards East of Landour, Dhanaulti houses the Sukhanda Devi shrine amidst the lushness of Himalayan greenery and attracts numerous pilgrims to its site. You must also visit the Eco Park on the way to Chamba.

Benog Wildlife Sanctuary: Famous for its almost-extinct mountain quails, deer, leopards and red-billed blue magpie, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is well known to house rare species of birds and offers an excellent trail of pine-clad slopes surrounded by Himalayan peaks for a refreshing walk.

Nag Tibba Trek: Nag Tibba is situated near Mussoorie which is relatively unknown and a very exhilarating trekking trail. Known as one of the best weekend treks, the place offers a climb of about 10,000 ft amid the snow clad mountains. This is the highest peak of the Nagtibba range with an altitude of 9915m and is said to serve as a home to Nag Devta. The trail of the expedition is also highly fascinating and spectacular, being adorned with rich variety of flora and fauna, a rustic Gharwali lifestyle and oak and deodar forest housing exotic birds and wildlife. Municipal Garden: The beautiful Municipal Garden, earlier known as "Company Bagh", is an idyllic retreat for tourists as well as locals. A visit to this century-old garden, which is adorned with green lawns, fountain, mini artificial lake and waterfall, is like stepping back in the old colonial days. There is a picturesque water body where you can indulge in boating located in the Happy Valley area. This garden can be easily reached by rickshaw, pony or car. Best time to visit Mussoorie

Mussoorie is place where summer is the best time to trekking and camping. Winter is freezing and is dominated by snowfall. Post monsoon season during September to November is good for water rafting. Climate in Mussoorie

Winter (December to February): This season stays here from October to February with chilly weather conditions and snow. The temperature at night can reach down to subzero levels and roads usually get obstructed by snow from December till mid of February.

Beatles Ashram – Rishikesh

Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh is known as “Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram” and was one of the most popular music bands visited Rishikesh in 1968 for meditation.

 Beatles came here to learn transcendental meditation at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Ashram. The main purpose of their visit to this ashram was to get advanced training about the Transcendental Meditation.

The Beatles were attracted to his meditation and teachings. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi invited them to his ashram in Rishikesh for advance learning.

Sessions were conducted by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi himself at his ashram. According to many people this whole time of the group at Rishikesh Ashram was their most productive time period.

Later Rishikesh became Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh is constantly inspiring and helping people who are looking for peace and stress free life.

The ashram is now closed after the death of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram is now also known as The Beatles Ashram.

How to Reach Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram:  Ashram is officially closed Still the construction is safe. It’s very hard to find the location of Beatles Ashram.

Current Situation and Entrance Rules of Beatles Ashram: The Beatles ashram is officially closed now and the whole area is under Government control. Still there are old buildings of ashram is there. No one is living here right now. Buildings are not maintained so they are dirty. If you want to visit this place don't try to visit alone. There is watchman at the gate. Officially entrée is prohibited but people unofficially visit this ashram offering some money to the watchman.

Parmarth Niketan Ashram- Rishikesh

Parmarth Niketan Ashram is located in the lap of the lush Himalayas along the banks of the Ganges near Ram Jhula in Rishikesh. The ashram was founded in 1942 by Pujya Swami Shukdevanandji Maharaj.
