After arrival at Guwahati airport or railway station, you will proceed to Kaziranga National Park which is famous home of one horned rhino in Assam. Upon arrival check in to the hotel, take a lunch at same hotel and you will have rest of the day free at your leisure. In the evening you will visit local sightseeing which includes Tea/ Coffee plantation in Karbi Ethnic village and Rubber plantation in local model village, one can meet the Karbi people to know their lifestyle and how they earn their living by working in the tea gardens which are famous for supplying tea all across India. After completing sightseeing tour you will be return back to resort and overnight stay with dinner at Kaziranga Nation Park.

Get up in the morning approx 05:00 am, our representative will take you to the elephant riding point by jeeps enjoy elephant safari which starts from 05:30 am - 06:30 am or a second shift start from 6.30 am-7.30 am depends on you, enjoys an outing to the Western range of the park. After elephant safari you will come back to resorts and have breakfast, rest some hours at your leisure. After lunch get ready to explore jeep safari at central range which starts from 01:30 pm – 03:30 pm. Kaziranga National Park is a national park in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam, India. A World Heritage Site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses. Kaziranga also boasts the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Kaziranga is also recognized as an Important Bird Area by Birdlife International for conservation of avifaunal species. Compared to other protected areas in India, Kaziranga has achieved notable success in wildlife conservation. Located on the edge of the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot, the park combines high species diversity and visibility. Kaziranga is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, crisscrossed by four major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, and the park includes numerous small bodies of water. Kaziranga has been the theme of several books, songs, and documentaries. The park celebrated its centennial in 2005 after its establishment in 1905 as a reserve forest.

Majuliis the biggest river island in the world, the island is formed by the Brahmaputra River in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti, an anabranch of the Brahmaputra, joined by the Subansiri River in the north. Digboi is known as the Oil City of Assam where the first oil well in Asia was drilled. The first refinery was started here as early as 1901. The history of Digboi dates back to the year 1869, when some men from the Assam Railway and Trading Company found the legs of their elephants soaked in black mud, which smelt somewhat like oil.

Dibrugarh was the last tea town and I had the urge to see for myself the whole process of tea making before leaving for Arunachal Pradesh. In the second half of the 19th century a British Planter was curious to know as to what natural factor contributed to this abundant growth of this variety of bamboo trees in the area.

He ultimately discovered that the Brahmaputra River originating from the glacier in the south east of the Lake Mansarowar in Tibet would bring from the hills of Tibet profuse sandyloam soil along its down flow that washed regularly its Southern bank.

Traditional Assamese food is not spicy, it is even bland at times. Rice or `bhaat’ is the staple food of the people. Kamakhya Devi Temple: Kamakhya Temple situated some 5 km from the main city on the Nilachal Hill, is one of the most sacred Hindu Shrines of India. Goddess Kamakhya is worshipped here. Ambubachi Mela is celebrated every year in the middle of June in this temple. Many devotees from across the country gathered here during this mela.

River Cruise: One of the major attractions of Guwahati is the River Cruise on the Brahmaputra river. To go on a cruise on the mighty river is a thrilling experience. There are cruise vessels like 'MV Mahabahu', 'Jolporee', 'Charaidew', 'MV Chandardinga',[32] 'Alfresco', 'Baginadi' etc. that will take visitors on joy rides on the Brahmaputra river. Umananda Temple: On the peacock island in the middle of the Brahmaputra, this Shiva temple was built in 1664. It is believed that Lord Shiva by using his third eye burnt Kamdeva at this place. Every year Shivaratri is celebrated in this temple in a great way. The island is believed to be the world's smallest human inhabited island. The world's largest river island is Majuli.

Accoland: Accoland family fun kingdom is the north-east's only amusement park named after Acco, the mythological king of amusement. This park is at Patgaon. Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra: Shankardev Kalakshetra is a place that visitors should never miss. Shankardev Khalakshetra name synonymous with the great Vaishnava saint and scholar of Assam Srimanta Shankardeva. It is a multipurpose cultural complex that has fulfilled its aim in protecting, promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of the communities and tribes of Assam and the country.

Guwahati Planetarium: Situated in Uzanbazar this planetarium is the only one of its kind in the North-Eastern region and a center of astronomical research. For visitors, the mysterious aspects of the universe are brought alive by sheer audio-video technique and explained in the dark domed structure inside the planetarium.

Assam State Museum: Assam State Museum is situated near Dighalipukhuri. It houses many rare, specimen of the Ahom Dynasty. Many articles of equipment, dress materials belonging to the glorious past of Assam are found here. Many antiques, statues, manuscripts, written on Shashi-paat and other valuable articles are preserved and displayed here.

Balaji Temple, Guwahati: This temple is a recent addition to the religious places of Guwahati. It is situated at Betkuchi area of the city. How to Reach Guwahati

By Flight: Guwahati has Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Borjhar, about 20 km west of the center of the city. There are direct flights to Guwahati from Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad and other major cities in India by different airlines. By Train: Guwahati falls under the Northeast Frontier Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Guwahati Junction which is the major station of Guwahati is the headquarters of the zone. Two other stations are Kamakhya Junction and New Guwahati (for freight services) located towards west and east from Guwahati respectively. Kamakhya Junction is the second largest station of the city. By Bus: Guwahati connects with the states Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal with National Highway 31. Shillong

Boating at Umium Lake

Umiam is a beautiful lake to enjoy boating. It is located in Nongpoh at a distance of approx 17km from Shillong. The lake provides residents with water and is also their source of fish. Nohkalikai Falls: Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Mawsmai Cave: the Mawsmai Caves are a major crowd puller that leaves tourists spellbound. These limestone caves have the distinction of being the only caves in Meghalaya that are lit enough to enable tourists to enjoy the natural formations in awe. The cave has a spacious opening but it soon squeezed into a small neck. The cave is a one way road- enters from one and goes out the other. In the middle, there are places where you've to bend and squeeze yourself out. As beautiful and adventurous as it was it can be a bit suffocating, if stuck with a large group.

Elephant Falls: Elephant Falls is situated at the outskirts of the main city of Shillong. It is almost 12 kms away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.  Elephant Falls is increased manifold by the two falls-the Wir Phang Falls and the Wei Iaplam Falls. Though both of them are busy tourist spots, none resembles the voluminous and elegant Elephant Falls.

Double Decker Root Bridge: Double Decker Root Bridge Located in the thick tropical forest of Meghalaya, cloaked with rain during most part of the year is the fantastic man-made cum natural wonders of the living root bridges. Created by the people of the Khasi tribe, these roots grow from the ancient rubber trees, seen only in the northeast region. These roots are trained by the Khasis to grow in such a manner as be in the form of bridges on the top of a river.

Nongsawlia Presbyterian Church: Nongsawlia Presbyterian Church was founded by Thomas Jones, the first missionary to the Khasi hills and the founder of the Khasi script.

People of Shillong

The people of Shillong are exceptionally hospitable and friendly. They welcome their guests with tremendous curtsey and talk to them in a very sweet and companionable tone. These people are always smiling and demonstrate. Khasi language is used in Shillong to communicate to each other, the traditional attire of a Khasi woman is ‘Jainsem’ i.e. two pieces of cloth pinned at the shoulder and covered with a shawl known as ‘Tapmohkhlieh’. In ancient times the indigenous Khasi men used to wear dhoti, half coat and turban. However, due to the increasing western influence people dress themselves in shirts and trousers these days.

Festivals of Assam
