About- Gujarat has India’s first Marine National park situated near Jamnagar in Narara and Pirotan Island where people visit for Coral walks without diving into the water. The entry to Pirotan island is closed these days in order to preserve wild life but one can visit Narara for the same.One is required to take a permit and visit during low tide and you can see a variety of marine life which includes Octopus, fishes, crabs, sponges etc. It’s a 2 km walk and takes around 2 hours to complete.

Ideal time to visit – You can visit the marine national park and places around like Dwarka and Jamnagar between December and March. During these season the weather is better compared to Summers, less humid and you can enjoy walking on the corals in much better way.

This trip starts from Ahmedabad (23.0300° N, 72.5800° E) from where you visit Jamnagar (22.4700° N, 70.0700° E)that is famous for the marine national park and Khajadiya bird sanctuary, the marine life is rich here as it lies just south of Gulf of Kutch. The temperature in this region is hot and humid during summers and pleasant during winters. Languages spoken here is Gujrati along with Hindi and English is also spoken here.

Fairs and Festivals

NavratriNavratri is celebreated on a grand scale in in entire Gujrat that goes non-stop for nine nights with devotees celebrate Goddess Shakti’s manifestation and victory over Mahishsura. People also perform the folk dance of Gujarat called Garba with great Enthusiasm.

Uttrayan – This festival is celebrated to observe the end of winter season and give a warm welcome to the summer season. The international kite festival is celebrated on this day.

What to eat - Some of the famous local food items here are chakri, Dhokla, Khakra, Fafda, Sev, Khandvi and Khaman. The famous bevrages of this place are refreshing Lassi, Buttermilk also known as Chaas.Some famous Gujrati sweets are Basundi, Puran Poli, Shrikhand, Ghevar, Malpua. Since Non-Vegetarian food is prohibited here so most of the restaurants only sell vegetarian food items.

5 day trip Itinerary for Gujrat Marine adventure package

Day 1 – Ahmedabad

Our representatives will pick you from airport/railway station and transfer you to the hotel. Before Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad was the capital of the state and today serves as the commercial hub of the state. Afternoon proceed to Gandhinagar to visit Akshardham temple. This temple has been built by the Swaminarayan sect and is a beautiful example of art and architecture. From here we return to Ahmedabad and will spend our evening at Kankaria lake that is a beautiful man-made lake with zoo, toy trains and a hot air balloon that gives panoramic view of the city from a height.

We reach Manek Chowk later in the night for dinner. Manek chowk is famous for many varieties of food served here as this place is converted into a street food hub in the night and people from all around Ahmedabad visit here.

Day 2 –Ahmedabad – Jamnagar (304km/6h)

Today we check out from the hotel after breakfast and drive for Jamnagar. In route we take a small detour to Lothal and will spend some time there. Lothal is situated about 85 kms from Ahmedabad. This site was discovered in 1954. The city that stood here 4500 years ago is related to the Indus Valley cities of Mohenjodaro and Harappa, that are in Pakistan now. Lothal is the oldest dock in the world. The meaning of Lothal is Mound of the Dead and is very popular between historians, archeologists and casual tourists.

From here we continue driving for Jamnagar and reach there by afternoon. Upon arriving in Jamnagar we check in to hotel, after lunch we will visit Lakhota Lake & Lakhota Museum followed by Bala Hanuman Temple that is famous for for its nonstop Ramdhun since 1956 and it mentioned in Guinness Book of World Records.

Day 3 – Narara Island and Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary

Today we will visit Narara island that is 60 km away from the city of Jamnagar, we will start early morning and reach there by car. Most people do the coral walking at Narara only because Pirotan Island was closed down by Gujrat Tourism to preserve the Marine life. From here we will leave for Khijadiya bird sanctuary. This bird sanctuary is located about 12 km. away from Jamnagar, is a hot spots for migratory birds in the winters who reside around the two fresh water lakes here. Around 300 species of Birds are found in this region. This place is a heaven for birding and nature lovers.

From here we will return to hotel, evening will be free for local sightseeing and shopping.

Day 4 - Jamnagar – Dwarka (150km/3hrs)

Today, after breakfast we will drive to the holy town of Dwarka. Here we will take a visit to Dwarkadeesh Temple followed by a holy dip in Gomti river. From here we will visit Nageshwar Jyotirling, Gopi Talav  and Bet Dwarka And on our way return we will visit Rukmani Temple along with spending rest of the day on the beach. The day will end with attending evening aarti at Dwarkadish temple. Overnight stay and dinner at the hotel.

Places to visit in Dwarka

Dwarkadhish temple - The temple is more than 5000 years old and is considered as one of the Char dhams. It is situated on bank of Gomti ghat and is visited by millions of pilgrims to seek blessings in the temple.

Rukshamanee Temple - it is believed that journey to Dwarka is incomplete without darshan at this temple. Her temple is away from main temple because a curse from Rishi Durvasa.

Dwarka Lighthouse - Dwarka Lighthouse is located at Rupen Creek. This lighthouse was constructed in 1886. This tower was rebuilt in 1960 that is around 43 metres high.

Nageshwara Jyotirlinga Temple-  This temple is also known as the Nagnath temple and is situated in the outskirts of Dwarka. It's one of the 12 Jyotirlingas mentioned in the Shiva Purana.

Bet Dwarka - Beyt Dwarka is an island located around 30 km from Dwarka.The main temple is over 500 years old. The island is enclosed by a few temples, white sand beach and coral reefs. 

Gomati Sangam Ghat – There are many ghats on the river Gomati but the most important one is the one where the river meets the ocean is known as the Gomati Sangam.

Gita Mandir – This temple was built in 1970 by the industrialist family of Birla. The temple is built using marble and protects the values and teachings of 'Bhagavad Gita'.

Day 5 - Dwarka – Ahmedabad (452km/7h)

We start for Ahmedabad after local sightseeing and marketing in Dwarka and reach there by evening. Upon reaching Ahmedabad you’ll be dropped to railway station/airport and the trip shall end.

Day 1 – Ahmedabad
