Day 01: Bagdogra Airport to Kalimpong (80 km/2.5 Hours)
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or railway station and proceed towards Kalimpong, which is a small hill station, known for its tranquility and scenic beauty. Kalimpong is a great destination for those who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some time in peace. Upon arrival check in to hotel and you may have lunch at same hotel, after that get ready to explore Kalimpong through its famous excursion and make your holiday enjoyable. Visit Forest Museum, Deolo Hill, Hanuman Mandir and Dr Graham Homes, after sightseeing you will return back to hotel and overnight stay with dinner at Kalimpong hotel.

Paragliding in Kalimpong

Places to visit in Kalimpong
Thongsha Gompa: Tharpa Choling Monastery is Thongsa or Bhutan Monastery. Thongsha Gompa is the oldest Gompa built during the Bhutanese period, in 1692.
Tharpa Choling Monastery: Tharpa Choling Monastery belongs to the Gelukpa sect and is on the way to Dr. Grahm Homes. Tharpa Choling Monastery was built in 1937 and is the repository of old scriptures and documents.
Tharpa Choling Monastery Kalimpong: Kanguyar, in 108 volumes, brought by the Dalai Lama when he fled Tibet. Excellent view point for snow and valley views
Nature Interpretation Centre: Nature Interpretation Centre is operated by the Forest Department. Nature Interpretation Centre focuses on flora, fauna and local people interacting with ecology.

St. Teresa Church: St. Teresa Church was built by local craftsmen to resemble a Gompa. It has wood carvings adorning the walls, depicting biblical scenes, in which personalities resemble Buddhist monks. It is an interesting example of Tibetan influences.
Flower, orchid and exotic flora nurseries: The name of Kalimpong has become synonymous with flower nurseries many of which abound here. Gladioli, orchids, cacti, amaryllis, anthuriums, roses, gerberas, dahlias and other exotic plants are grown in a number of flower nurseries in Kalimpong, mainly for export. The weather and the soil of Kalimpong are very conducive to the growth of orchids, roses, gladioli and dahalias
Colonial Bungalows: Colonial Bungalows were built by British wool traders during the "Raj" period, located on Rinkingpong and Hill Top Roads. These include Surya Sadan, Crockety, Galingka, Morgan House, Tashiding, Ringking Farm. Of these, Morgan House and Tashiding, now Government Tourist Lodges, can be viewed.
Mangal Dhaam: Mangal Dhaam was recently constructed as the place of worship. This is a marvelous piece of architecture.
Deolo View Point: Deolo View Point is situated at the top of Deolo Hill at 1914 metres, overlooking the town of Kalimpong. The top of which is the highest point in Kalimpong. There are excellent views of snow peaks, Kalimpong town and the Teesta Valley. Two big reservoirs here are the source of water supply to the town of Kalimpong below.

By Air: Bagdogra is the nearest airport to Darjeeling. From Darjeeling, the distance of this airport is about 88 km. It takes about 3 ½ hours to drive from Darjeeling to Bagdogra. This airport can be reached from the metropolitan cities of India.
By Rail: The nearest railway station to Darjeeling is New Jalpaiguri or NJP. The distance between Darjeeling and NJP is almost 88 km. It is the most important railhead of the region. This railway station can be reached from the major cities of India. The famous toy train can be taken from New Jalpaiguri to reach the hill station. It is a wonderful experience taking a ride of this train and enjoying the surrounding picturesque scenario.
By Road: Bus services are available for tourists. After reaching Siliguri bus can be taken to reach Darjeeling. By availing the Tenzing Norgay Road, which is known as NH-55 Darjeeling can be reached from Siliguri, NJP and Bagdogra. It merely takes some more than 3 hours to reach Darjeeling via NH-55. Private taxis may be hired for this journey.

This joy ride begins at New Jalpaiguri, a busy railway station in the plains. The plains are much warmer than the hills and as the train climbs up the mountains the climate gets much colder. Therefore it is advisable to keep warm clothes handy as one needs them.

Darjeeling Nightlife
Darjeeling This old hill town with its old colonial charm has adapted itself over time and offers nighttime entertainment in its own unique way. Nightfall arrives early and places generally close by 6pm. The limited bars and lounges are often attached to restaurants, but even here do not expect a crowd of people engaging in stories and laughter. If you drop by over summer you are likely to get a different crowd all together and are far more likely to encounter a bubbly crowd in the festive month of December.

The Buzz: The pub is marked by the various collections of items like models of vintage cars, cart wheels, bugles and many other musical instruments hanging from the ceiling and walls.
Shangri-La Restaurant & Bar: This building too came up during the colonial days. The inside decor is really appealing. There is a section next to the bar counter. Large plasma TVs are fixed on the walls. The bar has nice selection of drinks of all types including wine, whiskey, bear, rum, vodka etc.

Tiger Hill: The Tiger Hills is the highest peak in Darjeeling and offers a splendid view of the Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest. Due to the proximity with three international borders, Darjeeling is strategically a very important place. Darjeeling is known worldwide for its toy train. It is one of the few remaining steam powered trains in the world. It comes from Siliguri and takes six to seven hours to cover a distance of 82 kms.
