BHOPAL

Upper and Lower Lakes: These lakes highly contribute towards beautifying the landscape of Bhopal and are credited as the artwork of Raja Bhoj. The Upper Lake is 6 sq. km. in area and is divided from the Lower Lake by an over bridge. MP Tourism's Yacht Club provides facilities and warrants exciting trips by sail, paddle and motor boats at the Upper Lake. 'Van Vihar' (safari park) and the fish-shaped aquarium near the place also contribute towards its popularity amongst the locals and tourists.

Laxmi Narayan Temple : Also known as Birla Temple, Laxmi Narayan temple was built by the Birlas and is commemorated to the Hindu deities, Laxmi & Vishnu. This sandy-yellow edifice, embellished with idols of many Hindu Gods and Goddesses, poses a magnificent sight. Birla Museum, adjoined to its precinct, is a storehouse of art and artifacts that date back to the 12th century. The beautifully carved archway and the trailing green lawns of the place make it a famous tourist draw of Bhopal.

UJJAIN

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga : Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingams, which are supposed to be the most sacred abodes of Shiva. It is located in the ancient city of Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The temple is situated on the side of the Rudra Sagar lake. The presiding deity, Shiva in the lingam form is believed to be Swayambhu, deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other images and lingams that are ritually established and invested with mantra-shakti.

Kal Bhairava : According to the Saivite culture, the veneration of the eight Bhairavas is an integral feature of the Hindu customs. The main among these Bhairavas is the Kal Bhairava, assumed to be constructed by the monarch Bhadresen, near the riverbanks of Shipra. This shrine has been cited in the Avanti Khanda of Skanda Purana.

INDORE

Rajwada Palace: Rajwada is the historical palace of the Holkars. It was built about two centuries ago and is located near the Chhatris in the main square. It is a seven storied structure, which serves as the living example of the grandeur of the Holkars. Rajwada stands in the centre of the city.

Kanch Mandir : The Kanch Mandir, as the name suggests, is a temple which is entirely made up of glass and mirrors. It is also known as the Seth Hukamchand Temple, as it was built by the "Cotton King" Sir Hukamchand Seth in the early 20th century. It is primarily a Jain temple and is a wonder in glass.

Lal Baag Palace: Lal Baag Palace is one of the most spectacular buildings in Indore. It stands on the outskirts of the town, towards the southwest. It is a three storey building on the bank of the River Khan. The palace was built by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar during 1886-1921.

OMKARESHWAR

Omkareshwar Temple: The temple of Omkareshwar is one of the most popular pilgrimage spots in India. Situated on Mandhata island (shaped like the holy “Om” sign), the temple is considered to be one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. Omkareshwar temple is closely associated with Mammaleshwar temple, as both these temples are deemed as single form of Lord Shiva. The island, formed on the course way of river Narmada, is 20 km from Mortakka in Madhya Pradesh.

Legend has it, Ambarish and Mucchkund, the two sons of King Mandhata, practised austerities in this place and pleased the lord. They also performed various other religious sacrifices, which made Shiva to fulfil their wishes. The temple, which follows the Nagara style of architecture, can be reached via ferry from the riverbanks.

Kajal Rani Cave: The cave of Kajal Rani is located at a distance of 9 km from Omkareshwar and one of the main tourist attractions of this place. The Kajal Rani Cave offers a view of long and broad stretches of the surrounding undulating lands.
