On the contrary, the water thunders down the slope losing contact with the rocks, thus making Jog Falls the tallest untiered waterfall in the country.

Day 03: Lion Safari and local sightseeing of Shimoga
Early in the morning around 8:30 am you will visit for Lion safari located at a distance of 10 km from Shimoga. Lion safari starts from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, enjoy 2 hours by exploring Flora and Fauna. After safari come back to hotel and have breakfast, later visit to explore rest of the famous places of Shimoga which includes Sacred Heart Church, Honnemaradu and spend 2 Hours at Honnemaradu.

Achakanya Falls: Achakanya Falls is one of the hidden waterfalls formed near Thirthahalli. The fall is located at a distance of 10 kms from Thirthahalli on the way to Hosanagara in Shimoga District in Karnataka. Sharavathi River takes a wonderful leap to create this 6.1 meters eye-catching waterfall. The place is a very good trekking destination as it is located in the midst of a thick forest. As the Achakanya Falls is hidden in the middle of a thick forest it is better to take guidance from the locals of Aralasurali village, which is located around 20 kms from Thirthahalli and 2 kms from the falls.
Jogger’s dam: Jogger’s dam Located 12 kilometers from Shimoga, popularly known as ‘The gateway of Malnad’, is a small village- Gajanur. Jogger Dam is built across the River Tunga and is one of the scenic picnic spots for the tourists.

Sakrebailu Elephant: The Sakrebailu Elephant Camp is a forest camp for captive elephants in Karnataka. Situated at a distance of 14 km from Shimoga on the Shimoga-Thirthahalli Road, it is considered to be the best camp for training elephants in the state. The Sakrebayalu is an elephant training camp where the mahouts (keepers) train these magnificent animals. There are over a dozen elephants at the camp and each elephant has two mahouts dedicated to its care. The elephants lounge around in the camp till midday, after which they are set free in the surrounding forest. They do this by tracking their footprints and dung, and since they share such a close relationship with the elephants, they also know their favorite hangouts! The mahouts say that the elephants love to feast on bamboo shoots, which grow in profusion in the forests.
