Places to visit around Alibaug

Akshi Beach: The beach is frequented by tourists in large number as a variety of birds and different flora can be seen at the beach. Akshi Beach has clean water and is ideal for swimming purposes. It is a white sand beach with numerous suru trees present along the coast

Vikram Vinakyak:  Vikram Vinakyak is 20Km from Alibag. This temple is situated across the Revdanda Bridge and is surrounded by beautiful garden and fountains. Located on a small hillock, the temple can be reached by climbing the well paved stairs.

The Kaneshwar Devasthan: This Temple is a well-known Shiva Temple. It is located about 12 km away from Alibag and is situated at a height of a dizzying 900 feet, atop a hill. Worshippers and pilgrims set upon a journey of a 500 stairs-climb that takes them to the imposing deity of Lord Shiva. The temple was constructed by Raja Ramdev Yadav. The temple premises are beautifully done. It consists of several small temples dedicated to Sri Hanuman, Sri Balram Krishna and Sri Paleshwar. There’s also a Bheem Kunda – a flower garden – and a Nagaar Khana. A fair is organized on the auspicious event of Karthik Poornima annually here.

Someshwar temple:  Someshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple in Akshi, which is situated at a distance of 3 km from Alibaug. It was built by Satavahana rulers and the structure reflects the architectural style of their ruling period

Best Time to Visit Alibag

November to July is the best time to visit Alibaug to enjoy the beaches. Between August to October one can enjoy clear rainy days exposing the lush green beauty of Alibaug. But do note that boat service between Mumbai and Alibaug is not functional during the rainy season.

Nagaon Beach Alibaug Water sports

Nagaon Beach is nice clean beach. The slope is gentle so you can go considerable deep into the sea waters. There are water sports available. You can get cricket bat, badminton rackets, football on rent on hourly basis. 300 Rs deposit 20 Rs per hour charges. Quite worth. There are changing rooms and hot water available for bath at 20-30 Rs charge. For lunch/dinner you get good food at Mahesh lunch home. The fish there is very tasty. The only drawback of the beach is it is very crowded. Being near and easily reachable from Mumbai and Pune people throng on weekends.

How to Reach Mumbai

By Flight: Mumbai’s airport is the Sahara International Airport and has many international airlines flying to Mumbai. These flights connect Mumbai to almost all the major international and domestic locations. Mumbai Central and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (or VT) connect the city to the rest of the country.

By Bus: Buses from other states arrive at the Mumbai Central Bus Station. Most of the inter-Maharashtra buses arrive at this station as well. Bus services ply regularly between Mumbai and cities like Bengaluru, Surat, Nashik, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Mangalore, Kochi and Goa

By Train: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station is Mumbai's main rail head. It is well connected to all major cities and is also the main railway station for the local trains running within the city. Mumbai is well linked with other parts of the country by a huge network of trains.

By Air: The nearest airport to Alibag is Mumbai’s airport, located at a distance of about 140 km. Once you reach Mumbai airport, you can hire a private taxi or bus to get to Alibag.

By Road: From Mumbai, there are around 35-40 State transport buses that ply between Mumbai and Alibag. Also, these buses connect Alibag to other destinations like Thane, Pune, Nasik, Borivali, Kolhapur, Miraj, Sholapur, Jalgaon etc.

By Train: The nearest railway station to Alibag is at Pen, a small town of Mumbai. Through Pen, Alibag  is connected to Panvel Railway Station and then to Mumbai and other cities on the Indian Railways network
