Kunzum Pass situated at an altitude of 4590 m, extends from Spiti to Lahaul region of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. Apart from the magnificent view of the surrounding areas, there is a temple at the top of the pass which is dedicated to Kunzum Devi (Goddess Durga). On way to this pass,travelers can also enjoy the awesome beauty of the second longest glacier in the world, Bara-Sigri glacier.
As Rohtang pass is a gateway to Lahaul so Kunzum pass (4590 m) is the gateway to Spiti from Kulu & Lahaul.

While going to this pass, the panoramic view of Bara-Sigri glacier (second longest glacier in the world) is enthrilling and inspiring.

Getting there

ACCESS:

Kunzum Pass is accessible from two sides.

From the West: Kunzum Pass is accessible via Keylong from the North or Manali from the South. Both routes converge in   the small village of Gramphu, located in the Lahaul Valley. From here, the road runs eastward into Spiti Valley via the pass and Losar. Travelers can either continue on to Kaza, Tabo, and Reckong Peo, ultimately completing the circuit in Shimla. Trekkers can access the pass via the Chandra trail beginning in Manali from the southern approach or in Bara Lacha La (Bara Lacha Pass) from the northern approach.

From the East: Kunzum pass is accessible via National Highway 22. From Shimla, travelers follow the highway to Sumdo near the Tibet border. From here, a single lane road runs through TaboKaza, and Losar before reaching Kunzum Pass. Trekkers can access the pass via the Parbati trail beginning in Manikaran where it ends in Mud. From here, trekkers must navigate via the road or by bus to the pass.

  By Air: The nearest airport is at Bhuntar town, 50 km south of Manali and 170 km from Kunzum Pass. Indian Airlines and some private airlines operate regular flights to Manali. From Manali travellers can take bus or hire jeep for Kunzum Pass.

  By Rail: Being a hilly & difficult terrain railway is not possible. However nearest broad-gauge railway station  Pathankotis 324 kms from Manali. From Manali travellers can take bus or cabs.
