Afternoon – Arrive at Kanyakumari, the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal and check into your hotel. Have your lunch.

Evening – Board a boat to the just offshore Vivekananda Memorial. Watch the glorious sunset from the seashore. If you go on a full moon day you can get to see sunset and moonrise simultaneously. After returning to the hotel enjoy your food and stay.

Best Time to Visit South India

Rameswaram Temple – Temple and the island of Rameswaram have acquired this name because, Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva, the Gods of Gods here on return from Sri Lanka. As per the legend, after killing Ravana, Lord Rama returned with his wife Goddess Sita to India first stepping on the shore of Rameswaram. To get rid of the burdens of killing a Brahmin Rama wanted to offer worship to Lord Shiva. Since there was no idol, Hanuman was dispatched to bring an idol of Shiva from Kailash.

                        

Vivekananda Rock – The rocky island in the middle of the Bay of Bengal, which became a mark as Swami Vivekananda held his divine yoga and became enlightened after that.

Lord Muruga Temple – The second most preferred abode of Lord Muruga among the six is here in Tiruchendur.

Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple – There are no longer any original documents or historical relics of the facts as to when was this temple established and by whom. You will get references about the temple in Puranas and Epics. As per Srimad Bhagavatha, Balarama visited this Temple, bathed in Padmatheertham and made several offerings. As per the historians, like Dr. L.A.Ravi Varma of Travancore this Temple was established on the first day of Kali Yuga (over 5000 years ago).

                       

Chottanikkara Temple – It is the abode of living legend showered in magnificent mythology. The historical appeal and traditional influence on the generations of people is tremendous as per the legends the divinity who was worshipped here was Bhogacharya and the deity in Swayambhoo pose is none other than Rudraksha Sila worshipped by divine souls like Adisankaracharya, Vilwamangalam Swamiyar, Kakkasseri Bhattathiri and Chemmangattu Bhattathiri.

Chinese Fishing Nets – The traders brought them from the Chinese ruler Kublai’s Khan Court you get to see in Cochin.

                  

Jewish Synagogue – The synagogue constructed in the year 1568 AD, and ornamented by the use of Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers. Dutch Palace was the creation of the Portuguese but later in the 17th century, it was presented to the King of Kochi.
