Barehipani and Joranda Falls

Barehipani and Joranda are the two picturesque and popular waterfalls situated near Dhanaulti. The height of Barehipani fall is 400mts and Joranda Falls has approximately 150mts of height. These falls are located in the heart of the Similar National Park. The place is an ideal spot for family picnics and honeymooner’s getaway. These falls are located in the heart of the Simlipal National Park. Both the falls are very violent in nature during the monsoons which is evident from the lack of vegetation around the falls. It is believed to fall from a height of three hundred and ninety nine meters. The falls break into two visible tiers and end up at the pool below.

 

Eco Park

Eco Park is a newly developed park by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and citizens of Dhanault. The Park features a plethora of flora as well as the native Deodar, Oak & Rhododendron trees, also housing endangered birds adding to its natural beauty. There are two Eco-parks, "Amber" and "Dhara" about 200 m apart. It has been developed recently by the Forest Department of Uttarakhand with the help of local youth.  It is famous for its stunning sunrises and sunsets and provides ample activities like Flying Fox, Burma Bridge and much more like Sky Walk, Sightseeing, Trekking, Hiking and Rock Climbing. This botanical wonder is the ideal place to visit for couples, families and children as well. The park is also a stellar destination for fun hikes and treks with fresh air and providing you with amazing views of Doon Valley and the Himalayas.

 

Surkanda Devi Temple

 Surkanada Devi temple is located at a distance of 8 km. from Dhanaulti at a height of about 10,000 feet and requires a trek of about 1.5 km. from the base of the hill. This temple is dedicated to the famous Parvati Devi who is revered in the region by the locals. The temple provides a breathtaking panoramic 360 degree view of the Garhwal region. In the north, snow capped mountains of Himalayas can be seen on a clear day. On the other side, you will see Rishikesh and the Dehradun valley. A variety of beautiful flowers and herbs are grown in abundance here. Also marvel at the variety of aerial species of the western Himalayas in this region. Surkanda Devi temple is one of the sacred Hindu temples that lure visitors on regular basis.

 

Kunjapuri

Kunjapuri temple is situated at an altitude of 1645 m, which gives a picturesque view of the Himalayan region. On the way to Gangotri at a distance of 6 km from Narendra Nagar the road splits at Hindola Khal, leading to the holy shrine, which is situated at a distance of about 5 km.

 

Potato farm (Aloo Khet)

Dhanaulti’s famous Potato Farm is located close to the main market of Dhanaulti owned by the Government of Uttarakhand. This farm is Popular as a sunrise point, the place also offers a panoramic view of the Doon Valley. Tourists can hire horses to explore this unique and breathtaking spot. The farm produces a large quantity of potatoes, which are also supplied to other states of India. This place is Ideal for nature lovers and avid photographers, marvel at tons of potatoes and the process in cultivating this staple vegetable. Camp Thangdhar

The Camp Thangdhar located in Thangdhar village at a distance of 14 km. from the market area in Dhanaulti. It is situated at a height of 8300 feet and is surrounded by the pine and deodar trees. This particular adventure camp has accommodation facilities and has been developed especially for the tourists who are interested in mountain adventure. There are deluxe and alpine tents for the tourists with multi cuisine food and other facilities. Dashavatar Temple

The deity of Dashavatar Temple is Lord Vishnu. The temple was built by the Gupta Empire. The temple is also considered as the earliest known Panchyatan temple of North India. The side-walls have 3 carved panels depicting Vaishnava mythology. The Gajendramoksha panel, the Nar Narayan Tapasya and the Anantshayi Vishnu, depict scenes from the Vaishnava mythology.

 

Deogarh Fort

 Deogarh is one of the most popular fort situated in Dhanaulti area. Deogarh Fort was built in the 16th century near Pratapgarh. The fort is one of the 52 garhs or 52 forts of Uttarakhand state. The fort comprises of ornamented palaces, and artistic Jain temples.

 

Matatila Dam

Matatila Dam serves as a popular picnic spot which is located amidst the hills of Dhanaulti. This place offers panoramic views and water sports activities.

 

Jain Temples

 The place has numerous Jain temples situated inside the Kanali fort of Dhanaulti hills. From 6th to 17th century this region served as the Jain centre and during this period 31 Jain temples were built here. The temples depicts scenes from Jain mythology, Tirthankara images, votive pillars, votive tablets, Jain images visible from all sides and pillars carved with a thousand Jain figures.

Best Season / Best time to visit Dhanaulti
The climate in Dhanaulti is a sub tropical climate, and the main seasons that the town faces are those of summer, winter and monsoon. Monsoon in the town of Dhanaulti is characterized by heavy rainfall, and summers are mild. Winters are cold, and you can visit the town of Dhanaulti anytime during summer and winter. 

Summers in Dhanaulti are not hot and temperatures during this time are moderate. Tourists flock to Dhanaulti during this time to get away from the heat in the mainland. The maximum temperature during the summer months of April, May and June would be around thirty one degrees (31°C) and the minimum temperature would be around seven degrees (7°C). 

Monsoon in Dhanaulti is accompanied by very heavy rainfall. Temperatures fall further during the monsoon months of July, August and September and thus this is not an ideal time to visit Dhanaulti. 

Winters in Dhanaulti extend through the months of November, December, January and February. Temperatures during this time are very low, with the maximum temperature ranging around seven degrees (7°C) and the minimum temperature ranging around one degree (1°C). This is also a good time to visit the town of Dhanaulti, and you’ll need to carry winter clothing.

Mussoorie Forest Department is running Eco-huts for the tourists come to enjoy serene landscapes of Dhanaulti.

Day 1 : Delhi - Mussoorie (7 hours) 
In the morning, we drive to Mussoorie, one of the most popular hill stations in North India. Half day is free for your leisure activities. Overnight at hotel in Mussoorie. 

Day 2 : Mussoorie 
Morning after breakfast, start on a sightseeing tour visiting Kempty fall, Gun hill, George Hill Everest, Company Garden, Mall road, Camel's Back, Lal Tibba, Municipal Garden etc. Overnight in Mussoorie.

Day 3 : Mussoorie - Dhanaulti 
Morning after breakfast, take a drive to Dhanaulti and then enjoy great sightseeing covering Jain Temples, ECO-Park, Barehipani and Joranda Falls, Dashavatar Temple. Overnight at hotel in Dhanaulti.

Day 4 : Dhanaulti-Delhi 
Early after breakfast, check out the hotel. On arrival at Delhi, proceed to airport/ railway station for onward journey Tour End.
