How to Reach Aizawl

By Flight: The Lengpui Airport is nearest airport in Aizawl. Flights are available from the cities like Imphal (432 Kms), Guwahati (490Kms) and Kolkata (840 Kms) on a regular basis.

By Train: You can also reach the city via rail. The nearest railway station to Aizawl is in Bairabi.  Local trains are also available to Lumding from here.

By Bus: Aizawl also has an efficient connectivity via road.  It is connected to all major cities via road. Generally, to arrive at Aizawl, you have to take NH44.

Rich flora and fauna can be experienced in the Dampa Sanctuary which is at the tip of the Mizo hills. Dampa is one of the famous attractions of Mizoram as well as of North-east India. At an altitude of 400-800 m, it encompasses the lush valleys, fresh lakes and streams, water cascades and natural salt licks within its boundaries. 

Durtlangs Hills: the Durtlang Hills are famous for the breathtaking views they provide whilst on the rocky trek trail. Tourists and locals visiting the hills for obtaining a panoramic view often indulge in trekking on the hill-top. Though the visitors have to trudge the rocky trail, the view obtained from the highest point is breathtaking.

The highest waterfall in the state and the 13th highest in the country, the Vantawng Waterfalls is one of the most mesmerizing waterfalls of the North East. Vantawng falls are the pride of Mizoram and one of its prime attractions. But a viewing post set up nearby by the tourism department makes it possible for the visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of Vantawng Falls. Visit Palak Lake

It is also the largest lake in Mizoram. The location of this place in particular is pretty rich in nature given the fact that it is located in the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot and is in abundance of verdant environs.  Also known as Pala Tipo which is Mizo for ''swallowing lake'' is the located in Phura village in Saiha district, a few km away from the town of Saiha. It is a major component of the Palak Wildlife Sanctuary, it is also blessed with a lot of flora and fauna.

Enjoy Chapchar Kut Spring Festival

The Chapchar Kut is a festival of Mizoram, India. It is celebrated during March after completion of their most arduous task of Jhum operation. Chapchar Kut is estimated to have started in 1450-1700 A.D. in a village called Suaipui. Chapchar Kut was discouraged when the Missionaries came to Mizoram as it was felt that it did not adhere to Christian values, however it was revived in 1973 on a mass scale sans animistic practice and Alcohol. The festival is commemorated with gusto and fanfare, where thousands of Mizos, irrespective of age, gender, young and old, from all walks of lives, dressed in their colourful attires all poised to perform the colourful Cheraw dance or the bamboo dance, thus heralding the start of the festival for the day.

               

Visit Luangmual Handicrafts Centre

Luangmual Handicrafts Centre, located 7 km away from the main Aizawl town, is a popular centre specializing in handicraft objects found in the region. It is at this centre that the famous ceremonial hat, called Khumbeu is made using waterproof wild hnahthial leaves, which are found exclusively in the hilly terrain.  It is the seat of a rich tribal cultural extravaganza and is famous for its handicrafts. The town is blessed with exotic natural beauty. The State Museum at Babu Tlang is worth visiting and one can have a glimpse of Mizo dresses, implements, historic relics, and other traditional items.
