After arrival at Mumbai/ Pune airport or railway station and you will proceed to Matheran which is 80 km from Mumbai / 124 km from Pune. Upon arrival Dasturi Naka you will take a toy train from Neral and visit Matheran, after reach check in to hotel and rest for some hour. By the evening you will visit Mahadev Mandir and Charlotte Lake. Later come back to hotel and overnight stay with dinner at Matheran.

Pune to Matheran distance

Matheran is situated at a distance of 125 km from Pune which is well connected to Pune by road and take 2 hours to reach Matheran. One must note that you cannot drive all the way to the top of Matheran Hills. You will have to park your vehicles at Dasturi Car Parking Point. From here, you can walk to Aman Lodge station and hop onto the toy train.

Enjoyment in Toy Train journey: The toy train lumbers up from Neral for 20km over two hours, its bogies jangling in a merry chug-chug as mountain panoramas and valleys unfold between quaint stations and quirky tunnels.  The railroad zig-zags around a scenic route that is best experienced post the monsoons, when trees are washed clean and the mountains are green.

Monkey Point:  Monkey Point is located within 3 km from post office and named as Monkey for sightings of monkey at this place. If one makes a noise or sound facing Hart Cliff. 3 Monkey Point is named because of the natural formation in the rocks that look like the outline of Gandhiji’s three wise monkeys. You can also enjoy jungle trek on the way to the monkey point.

Basic Rock Climbing: Rock climbing is an essential skill required for serious trekking, be it Himalayan or Sahyadri. Himalayan big wall climbing is probably unrivalled in terms of the perseverance and determination required to scale them. By Bus: Mumbai to Matheran is about at a distance of 80 km from each other. You can take Taxi or Cab to reach easily Matheran from Mumbai.

Matheran is a pure treat. There are multiple trekking routes to Matheran, the most famous being the one through the Garbert Plateau.
