Kalicho Pass is the pass named after Local Goddess Bhadrakali and route used by Gaddi Shepherd to Lauhal Valley with their flocks. During the trek you will find the complete difference among the two geographical regions of Himachal Pradesh i.e. Bharmour and Lauhal. The route is difficult and adventurous trek with steep gradient, even well experienced and skilled local people and Gaddi shepherd also respect the grade of the terrain. This trek is one of the most difficult routes of reaching Lauhal valley. Gaddies first take permission to cross the Kalicho Pass from Goddess Bhadrakali, whose temple is at village Banni and Gaddies scarify their few sheep’s to Goddess Bhadrakali at Banni temple to get permission. If someone is not allowed or permitted to cross the pass, and they will not cross the pass and spent their six month near the Banni ranges and graze their flocks in their allotted ranges. Before starting the trek we will visit the Banni Devi's temple, which is known for its powerful goddess, all the locals people visit temple before climbing the Kalicho pass. According to local belief the goddess is the protector for the locals shepherd & people who are heading towards the high Kalicho pass.

Day 01 : Reception at Pathankot /Chakki Bank & drive to Dalhousie (80 Kms by Taxi)
Start The tour From Pathankot / Chakki Bank then drive to Dalhousie. It is arround 80 km and take 2-3 hours to arrive. After reaching Dalhousie check into hotel , have lunch and take some rest. In evening visit local sight seen of Small Hill station Dalhousie like Panchpula, Dainkund Peak and St. John Church. After visit came back to hotel and overnight stay at hotel.
Panchpula: Panchpula is located at a distance of around 3 km from Dalhousie. One of the famous picturesque spots in the region, the word Panchpula means five bridges. It is the place where a descending stream pours into and feeds several pools. The main stream that supplies water to cities of Dalhousie and Balloon is the Panchpula stream. The stream originates from the northern side of Dayakund, which then cuts through a ravine to fall into the water bodies located in Panchpula. A monument or a samadhi has been built where several streams meet at Panchpula in the memory of Sardar Ajit Singh, who was a great revolutionary.
Dainkund Peak: Dainkund Peak, perched at an altitude of 2755 metre, is the highest mount in Dalhousie. Tourists can enjoy 360° view of the entire valley from this peak. The sound of the breeze passing through the trees makes a musical sound, due to which this peak has also acquired the name, the singing hill. The top of this hill is occupied by the Indian Air Force and from there a left turn will take tourists to the Pholani Devi Temple. One of the most interesting facts about this temple is that, except a trident there is nothing inside the temple premises.
Day 02 : Dalhousie - Kalatop - Khajjiar - Bharmour (110 Kms by Taxi)
After Breakfast at Dalhousie move forward to Kalatop wildlife sanctuary then to Khajjiar. Enjoy the beauty of Mini Switzerland and take lunch. Have lunch at Khajjiar, move to Bharmour via Chamba . After reaching Bharmour check into hotel and take some rest. And in evening join the Aarti at Chaurasi temples. After that came back to Hotel and overnight at hotel.
Khajjair: Khajjiar is one of the famous retreats among the visitors. Khajjiar is famous for the popular Khajji Naga shrine dedicated to the serpent god from which the name is believed to have been derived. You can also enjoy trekking and adventurous activities at khajjiar. It is also Known as Mini Switzerland.
Chaurasi (84 ) Temples: The quaint little town of Bharmour is held in high regard for it is the pious earth of this place that houses the Chaurasi Temple. It is in fact a complex housing many temples with the Lakshmi Devi, Ganesh, Manimahesh and Narsimha being the main ones. It is around these temples that the activities, culture and customs of the people of the area revolve. The splendid mountains all around embrace it in their folds and add majesty to an already devout atmosphere. It is also known as the Chaurasi Khamba for the exquisite 84 pillars that form a part of the temple complex.
Day 03 : Bharmour- Bharmani Mata Temple – Bharmour (6Km Trek for acclimatization Day)
After breakfast and taking pack lunch, trek to Bharmani Temple. Bharmani temple is situated at the ridge and is 03 km trek from Bharmour. In evening return back to Bharmour and check into hotel.
Bharmani Mata Temple: Brahmani Mata temple complex is at the top of the ridge, 4km away from the Bharmour. The place is mainly known for Goddess Brahmani Mata. According to a local legend and people believe that the Bharmour was called Brahmpura after Brahmani Devi. When Lord Shiva went to Manimahesh Kailash granted a boon to goddess Brahmani Devi that all persons intending to go on pilgrimage to Manimaheshmust have a dip in their holy pool. Failing this, their pilgrimage would not be acceptable to Lord Shiva. That’s by every visitor firstly take bath in Brahmani’s holy pool before Manimahesh Lake.
Day 04 : Bharmour- Badgram - Bhadra (28 kms by Taxi & 5Trek)
On the first day of trek, early in the morning troop will move to the small destination Bhadra. Troop will reach Small destination Harchu a lead of 18 km by Taxi from Bharmour via Thalla and Sirdi. The road is leading up to Village Badgram, but road is risky so troop will start trekking from Harchu. After crossing small stream before village Plani trail reaches at Village Badgram via Kuthar, After taking small rest and lunch at Badgram troop will move down to stream through s shape trail. After crossing the small stream on wooden bridge the steep climbs start end ended at Goddess Banni Mata Temple. Rest for an hour troop will move ahead toward village Bhadra, Bhadra is the last village in this trek. The trek up to village Bhadra of 5km is also adventurous from last destination Banni. Stay for night at village Bhadra.
Banni Mata Temple: This temple is situated at a height of 8,500 feet, right at the base of beautiful of Pir Panjal Range in the Chamba Valley. It is dedicated to Banni Mata, an incarnation of Goddess Kali. The name Banni is also related to the ‘Ban’ or oak trees found amply here. Banni Temple lies in close vicinity to many mountain passes, and is often part of trek routes and excursions taking place here.
Day 05 : Bhadra - Leundi (12 km trek)
Bhadra to Leundi is a nice walk of 12 km, the day is easy walk with couple of steep climbs through lots of small streams, and there is small temple at Leundi which is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The trail is through dark forest and is nice meadows at Leundi from camping. As trail is in dark forest so beware from wild animals like black Himalayan Bear. Lunch will be at Leundi camping ground, so revive the whole body for next day journey after night and Overnight stay at Camp.
Day 06 : Leundi - Bansar Goth (10 km trek)
After breakfast early in the morning the tough trails start to Bansar Goth through steep climb with ups and downs, during this day we might have to cross steams at couple of places. In between your Trek enjoy to have packed lunch. Bansar Goth has a place for night halt, Locals revered the place as holy as Bansar is believed to the place of Incarnation of Banni Mata and is camping ground for overnight camps.
Day 07 : Bansar Goth- Alyas ( Lahesh) (7 km trek)
Base ground of Passes or Camp grounds on both sides of passes are called Alyas locally called Lahesh. After taking breakfast early in the morning at Bansar Goth troop will move ahead to steep and gradual climbs to Alyas. After taking Lunch at Alyas enjoy the whole day and overnight stay at camp and revive the body for next day.
Day 08 : Alyas - Over Kalicho Pass - Alyas (12 km Trek)
Alyas - Kalicho Pass - Alyas 10Km track is totally depending upon the weather and physical condition of tracker. Generally Travelling Guide will not take the risk or allow crossing the passes in bad weather conditions and will wait for clearing the sky. If sun shine then after taking tea and light breakfast and with packed lunch start moving ahead very early in the morning around 4:00 am to ensure that the snow is frozen for easier walking and if fails to cross the pass before 12:00 pm will create big problem as heavy snow winds, rainfall even snow fall can be happen. In between your trek enjoy to have packed lunch. It’s the toughest day of the trip to reach on the top of the Kalicho pass takes around 7 hours, though the distance in not much, but the sudden gain in altitude , vertical climbs & taxing terrain makes it a effort in itself. There is small Kali Mata temple at the top of the Kalicho pass. on reaching at the top of the Kalicho Pass go down to another side Alyas or Lahesh.
Day 09 : Alyas - Trilokinath - Udaipur (10km trek & 14 Km by taxi)
The descent trail is through a stony Nallah from Alyas and reaches at Famous Trilokinath Temple. Rest for an hour at temple and enjoy to have packed lunch then proceed for next. The trails go down to cross the river and join the main highway to Udaipur. Udaipur is the last destination of this trek. After that all traveling Will be through taxi.
Triloknath Temple: It is situated at a height of 2760 metres on a cliff. The white, painted temple glitters in all its glory. The temple’s name Trilokinath refers to the lord of three worlds. Local people say that this temple was initially as a Buddhist monastery or vihara. But currently there are no remains of the original building. A marble idol of Trilokinath here is sacred to the Hindus as Lord Shiva and for Buddhists as Avalokiteshwara. It is crowned with an image of the Buddha of Boundless light – Amitabha Buddha.
Day 10 : Udaipur - Kelong - Manali
After visiting main temple of Mirkla Mata at Udaipur troop will move to Keylong, District headquarter of Lauhal. After Kelong we will be further move to Manali via Rohtang pass. Troop will stay for one hour on the top of Rohtang pass. On reaching Manali, here our outdoor team will depart the troop with good wishes and With hopes to visit again and again to Himalaya for more treks.
Mirkula Mata Temple: Mrikula Maa Temple is of unknown age perhaps the 10th or 11th century AD. It has evolved through several phases of influences during the repairs in 11th and 12th centuries. In this period there were transition phases of Kashmiri art and the Buddhist art of western Tibet. The latter influence is evident in the inner facade of the temple, while the former transitional phase is represented by three headed image of Lord Vishnu.It is believed that the temple was constructed from a block of wood by the Pandavas of Mahabharata fame.Dedicated to goddess Kali, it is one of the most famous, unique and perhaps the last remaining wooden temple built in the early 8thcentury tradition.The name Mrikula has been derived from the village name where the temple is situated. The village has not much to offer except for its unique temple. The people believe that the goddess fulfills the wishes of those who offer prayers in this temple.
