Day 01 :- Reach Bhubneswar + Konark Sun temple + Karar Ashrams + Evening Aarti at Lord Jagannath temple

Pick up from Airport ( In Morning ) and Check into the hotel, After brief Rest, proceed to the local Site Seeing in Puri, Enroute visit Dhauli ( Budhist stupa / peace pagoda ), Pipli ( the applique work village ) and UNESCO Heritage Konark Sun Temple ( famously known as black pagoda ). Then proceed to Puri and check in to the hotel.

Konark Sun Temple is is located at a distance of 35 kms from Puri & 65 kms from Bhubaneswar, It is a true masterpiece of architecture and UNESCO Heritage monument. It is a must visit place to admire the breathtaking stone architecture.Konark Temple was Built in 13th century by King Narasimhadeva, the temple is designed in the shape of a colossal chariot with seven horses and twelve wheels, carrying the sun god, Surya.

The name of Konark temple is derived from two words--Kona meaning corner and Arka meaning the Sun.Legend says that after killing the demon Gyasur, Lord Vishnu placed his belongings at several places to commemorate the victory. With His conch at Puri, Disc in Bhubaneshwar and Mace in Jajapur; He placed the Lotus at Konark.

Among the five great religious zones or Kshetra which were located in Odisha (Orissa), Konark was considered to be one, the other four being Puri, Bhubaneswar, Mahavinayak, and Jajpur. 

There are several smaller shrines situated in the neighborhood of the Sun Temple. In them are found Rameswar,Chitreswara,Tribeniswara, and Utpaleswar, all Siva-lingas; and Ramachandi Rudrani, Khileswari, Charchika and Chitreswari, various forms of Goddess Durga.

Sandhya Arati —

Evening Arati of Sri Jagannath is done by Talachhu Mahapatra, Aratis of Sri Balabhadra and Sri Subhadra is done by two Puspalakas. Camphor Arati; 21 candles and Sanjakali Arati is done by the Sevayats; standing below the Simhasan in front of the deities. 

The Sevayats engaged are Bhitarchu Mahapatra; Paliamekap; Akhandamekap;Muduli; Khatsejmekap; Palia Pusupalak;Garabadu; Talicha Mahapatra and Khuntia.


Sandhya Dhoop —

This is the evening tiffin of the deities and the scheduled time is 7 to 8 PM; the place of Puja is Pokharia below the Ratnasimhasan; the system is Sodasopachar and the Prasad is arranged on behalf of the Temple Administration. The Sevayats who are engaged in Sakal and Madhyahna dhoop perform this Dhoop also. 

Food offered to Lord Jagannath :- 

The items offered to the deities are kaanla puli; takua; mathpuli; bhog pitha; gotali; bada kakara; sana kakara; luna khuruma; amalu; suar pitha; rosh paika hiribuha; jhadeinada; subash pakhal, sana and bada kadamba etc.

Jayamangal Arati :- 

After this Dhoop Arati is done by three Pujapandas in three silver pots; five varieties of Aratis are made. This Arati is named as Jayamangal Arati; Arati for the betterment of the universe.

Mailam and Chandanalagi —

After Sandhya Dhoop the dresses of the deities are changed. Before the colourful late night Badasimhar Vesha,the deities are smeared with sandalpaste, mixed with musk and camphor, this is known as Chandanlagi, its scheduled time is 10 PM.

DAY 02 :- Lord Jagannath Temple Morning Aarti Darshan+ Chilika Lake Tour

Early Morning have darshan and blessings at Lord Jagannath temple, After Darsans and after breakfast proceed to Asia biggest Chilika lake (satapada).

Dwarpitha and Mangal Aarati at 5 a.m

The door opens early in the morning in the presence of five specific sevayats after verification of the "seal" given by a particular sevayat in the last night. Soon after the opening of the door, Mangal Aarati is performed.

Mailam" at 6 a.m.
 

"Mailam" is a word used in Sri Jagannath Temple, which means change or removal of dresses and flowers etc. At this time some specific sevaks change the clothes, flowers, Tulasi leaves of the deities worn on the previous night. After removal of clothes, the clothes known as "Tadap" and "Uttariya" are worn by the deities.


 

"Abakash" - 6 a.m. to 6.30 a.m.


Purificatory rites like brushing of teeth and bath is known as "Abakash". At this time, Temple Jyotishi (Astrologer) reads out the tithi(day and date) and other astrological details of the day and according to that, that day's rituals are performed.

"Mailam" 6.45 a.m.


At this time deities change their clothes (Tadap and Uttariya) and wear another set of clothes. A sevak known as "Akhanda Mekap" keeps in the sanctum Akhanda Baitha i.e. one lamp which burns till "Pahuda" or the time of the retirement of the deities to bed.


Sahanamela" - 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.


During this time, Pilgrims go up to "Ratnavedi" or inner sanctums to have a Darshan of lord Jagannath, without paying fees for it. On certain festive days, Sahanamela is held after "Sandhya dhupa" (Evening Puja or Sandhya Aarati in the month of Kartik) and after Sakaldhupa (in the month of Pausha). Some times this darshan is not allowed for some special rituals of the deities.

Chilila lake Tour at 10:00 AM - 100 kms ( 4 hours)

Proceed to see Asia's largest brackish water lagoon - a designated Ramsar site in 1981, is spread across 1165 sq km.

Chilika is one of the most important wetlands in the world because of diverse variety of birds. Chilika Lake offers visitors a spectacular display of over 160 species of birds in the peak season (November and February), You can see nesting birds-white bellied sea eagles, ospreys, golden plovers, sand pipers, flamingos, pelicans, shovellers, gulls, include migratory ones flying great distances from Iran, Central Asia and Siberia.
 

Visit Kalijai TempleKalijai Temple -

It is Located on an island in the Chilika Lake, Kalijai Temple is one of the famous attractions. The temple worships Goddess Kalijai. The deity is highly revered among the locals, It can be reached via a boat from Chilika Lake. Makar Sankranti is celebrated with great pomp and cheer at the temple that attracts numerous travelers & devotees.
 

See Irrawady dolphins at Chilika :- 

Another major attraction at Chilika is Irrawady dolphins which are often spotted off Satpada Island. Satpada, bounded by the lagoon on three sides, offers an excellent view and attracts the visitors to its entire 30 km stretch of sand bar. Boats arranged by OTDC are available for both the islands. The lake also supports the local fisherman in earning their living from Chilika's prawn, mackerel and crabs. 

Back to puri In evening..

Proceed to golden sea beach after that back to hotel overnight at hotel.
                  

 

DAY 04 Puri Sightseeing - Bhubneswar Airport Drop :-  

Next morning, after breakfast, check out from hotel and seeing Lingaraj temple, kedargauri, Khandagiri, Udaygiri & Nandankanan Zoo and after that drop to you at Airport / Railway Station.
