Hongkong Macau Tour - Useful Tourist Information

How to Reach Hong Kong

By Air: The Hong Kong International Airport is well synchronized with the transportation facilities available in the city. The smartest option out of the airport is the Airport Express Line, located beyond the customs, adjacent to the arrival halls. This high speed Mass Transit Railway facility accesses all the major destinations such as Kowloon and Hong Kong within minutes.

By Sea: One can journey towards Hong Kong by sea. There are a number of hovercrafts between China – Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong and occasionally ships go the distance too. From Macau you can get either a hydrofoil (75 minutes) or a jet foil (55 minutes). The ferries from China dock at Tsim Sha Tsui while the Macau ones arrive at Shun Tak Centre on Hong Kong Island.

Best Time to Visit Hong Kong

The best time to visit Hong Kong is between October and December. This period boasts comfortable temperatures and reasonable room rates. After New Years, tourism picks up significantly, despite the falling temps, and leads to higher hotel prices and more crowds. Another sweet spot for affordable travel is the short spring. And while summer remains a popular tourist time, the weather can be stiflingly hot and humid.

Macau Nightlife

Macau by night truly represents why our city is known as the Las Vegas of the East. The neon lights of casinos, pulsing beats pumped out by world-renown djs, clubs full of beautiful people and sexy cabarets are all part of the Macau nightlife experience. Make no mistake – this IS Sin City. And we’re excited to show you what it’s all about. Come and experience Macau after dark.

Best Clubs In Macau

Club Cubic : Macau’s biggest club in both hype and space, Club Cubic is a 2,800-square-meter monster of curved walls, colored light projections and champagne-peddling. The HK$100 million ($13 million) interior was designed by Bosco Lam and includes a bar area with Gothic styling, a two-tier performance stage and five VIP rooms, each in a different theme.

China Rouge: A nightlife venue that attempts to do it all, China Rouge combines an art gallery, chill lounge, cabaret stage and raucous club all in one. At half the size of Club Cubic, China Rouge packs a punch in a relatively modest space.

Lion’s Bar : The MGM’s signature bar and Macau’s unofficial after-party venue, Lion’s Bar is a gaudy party hall with a live stage and well-stocked bar that serves the “Winston,” the Guinness World Record holder for the most expensive cocktail at MOP 94,880 ($11,880), made with Croizet 1858.

Macau Night Entertainment

House of Dancing Water : ‘The House of Dancing Water’, Macau’s most expensively made show, is a breathtaking melange of stunts, acrobatics and theatre designed by Franco Dragone, the former director of Cirque du Soleil. The magic revolves around a cobalt pool the size of several Olympic-sized swimming pools, over, around, into and under which a cast of 80 perform hair-raising stunts dressed in glorious costumes.

Single Origin: This airy corner cafe opened by coffee professional Keith Fong, makes a mean shot of espresso. You can choose your poison from a daily selection of 10 beans from various regions. If you can't decide, the well-trained barristas are more than happy to help.

Fashion Club: This glitzy bar is where partiers dress to impress or be impressed. But pick your night carefully as it can be dead mid-week, but on a good night there’s a great mix of tunes and a fun vibe. The indoor-outdoor combo is perfect, and makes it the best place on the wharf.

Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge: Macau's best whisky bar is a traditional affair featuring oak panels, Jacobean rugs and a real fireplace. The 400-plus whisky labels include representatives from Ireland, France, Sweden and India, and a 1963 Glenmorangie.

Macau Soul: An elegant haven in wood and stained glass, where twice a month, a jazz band plays to a packed audience. On most nights though, Thelonious Monk fills the air as customers chat with the owners and dither over their 430 Portuguese wines. Opening hours vary; phone ahead.
