DAY 02   DARJEELING -GANGTOK

DAY 03    GANGTOK SightSeeing Tour

TSANGU LAKE + BABA MANDIR + NATHULA PASS

A day excursion to Tsangu Lake (departure at 0900 to 0930 AM hrs) - situated at a height of 3,780 Mts. with an average depth of 50 ft. 43Kms in 3Hrs one way, with an average depth of 50 ft. The cool water of the Lake is perfectly attuned with the scenic beauty around.

Later proceed to  Baba Mandir - The shrine maid in memory of sepoy Harbahajan Singh.

From Baba mandir, You can additionally cover Nathula Pass which is further up and about 52kms from Gangtok and see the Indo Chinese border and the Chumbi valley through which the old Silk Route (i.e. the trade route between India and Tibbet) passes. Tsomgo lake and Baba Mandir combination takes about 5-6 hours round trip (including the time it takes to see the places). With Nathula it becomes a full day trip. 

Back to Gangtok and Overnight at Hotel. (Incase of Landslide or due to any other reasons if Tshangu Lake is closed then an alternate sightseeing will be provided)

DAY 04    GANGTOK Local SightSeeing Tour ( 15 Points To be covered)

After Breakfast, proceed to full day sight seeing tour of gangtok as below

1. Tashi View point - Excellent sunrise and Kanchenjunga viewing area.A great view point for watching the Kanchenjunga Snow Peaks on a clear day. Also an excellent place for sunrise view. 

2. Hanuman Tok - A Hanuman temple with a wonderful viewing area. 

3. Ganesh Tok - A Ganesh Temple with viewing lounge and open balcony. 

4. Bakthang Waterfall - Excellent wide water streams falling on a canopy of trees. The fall is located close to Tashi View point by the roadside and also offers great views all around. 

5. Enchey Monastery - Located on a hilltop, it's one of the oldest monasteries around. 

6. Flower Exhibition Center - Located near Gangtok town and at one end of The Ridge park, the center has great collection of flowering plants including Orchids (in season though). 

7. Handicraft Center - This is the building of Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom including a Sales emporium and a Museum showcasing many different handicraft items and artwork created by the local artists and craftsmen. 

8. Chorten Stupa - A famous Buddhist religious monument with a golden dome top which is visible from many places around Gangtok. 

9. Institute of Tibetology  - A world famous institute doing research on Tibetan language and culture, also has a great museum and library with rare and huge collections. It's located within a short walk from Chorten Stupa. 

10. Ropeway (Cable Car) - Great ride to view the whole of Gangtok, the valley and the peaks from far above. 

11. Ranka or Lingdum Monastery: About 45 minutes drive from Gangtok, set up on a hill and one of the most wonderful monasteries in east Sikkim. 

12. Ban Jhakri Waterfall: A great waterfall in a landscaped forest garden. The place is an excellent picnic spot for families. 

13. Rumtek Monastery: The most famous monastery with grand Tibetan architecture. It was designed after the original one in Tibet. An additional attraction here is the Golden Stupa. 

14. Nehru Botanical Garden: This is near Rumtek. There is a concrete pathway to take a stroll through the garden with many subtropical trees & plantations. There is a large nursery here for growing Orchids of many types. It also has a children's playground, swings etc. Overall a nice picnic spot. But for the purpose of this tour, you should not spend much time here as time will otherwise run out for the other sights. 

15. Shanti View Point: A viewing area near Rumtek. Spend a few minutes to watch the great views of Gangtok township at the opposite mountain. 

Night back to Hotel & relax

Day 5:  Gangtok- Lachen (107 km- 3 hours)

In the morning get transferred to Lachen. Halt at Chungthang for lunch and continue your journey. On reaching Lachen, check in at your hotel and relax.
Lachen is settled at an elevation of 2750 meters, amid humungous hill range. The town is the starting point of Green Lake Trek circuit. Lachen’s Thangu Festival (Yak race) is one of its greatest highlights, along with Chopta Valley and Kanchenjunga National Park. Lachen is home to a sprawling biodiversity which make it pleasing.
 

You can go for a heritage walk around Lepcha Village. Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 6:  Lachen- Gurudongmar Lake- Lachung (3 hour- 66 km and 113 km- 4 hour, respectively)

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed to Lachung and stopover at Gurudongmar Lake.Gurudongmar Lake is considered holy by the followers of Buddhism and Hinduism. Its name has been derived from Guru Padmasambhava.

Lachung, at an altitude of 9600 ft, has been regarded as “Most Picturesque Village of Sikkim”  The Himalayan Journal. Monastery, apple orchard and river streams are some of its striking feature. Rhododendrons and shrubs are scattered profusely around the area adding to the charm.In the evening, visit Lachung Monastery. This is the last Buddhist Monastery of India before Indo-China border. Mask dance of Lachung Monaster is very famous in North-East India.Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 7:  Yumthang Valley sightseeing & Back to Gangtok

Have your breakfast and proceed to Yumthang Valley. On your way, halt near a popular hot-spring that is known for having medicinal properties for skin diseases and problems.

Yumthang is located near Lachung Chu. In spring, it gets dotted with mélange of colorful flowers like rhododendrons, primulae and other alpine flowers. While with the arrival of winters thick sheet of snow covers the vicinity.In the evening you are free to explore Lachung. Have your dinner in the hotel and stay overnight..

Day 8:  Namchi Chardham  & Back to Gangtok

Have your breakfast and proceed to Namchi Chardham.Full day Exursion For Namachi Chardham.

Namchi is fast becoming a major tourist spot and pilgrimage centre. The Namchi Monastery, Ralang Monastery and Tendong Hill are important Buddhist pilgrimage centres. The world's largest statue (at 118 feet) of the Buddhist Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, the patron saint of Sikkim, is on the Samdruptse hill (The Wish Fulfilling well) opposite Namchi.

It was completed in February 2004. It is also said that the Samdruptse hill is actually a dormant volcano. Myths say that the buddhist monks have been going on top of the hill and offering prayers to the volcano to keep it calm. There is also a Rock Garden just few kilometers up from the town on the way to Samdruptse. Sikkim Best Home Stay Dong Busty Home Stay just 8km away from Namchi Bazar.

The Rock Garden displays a wide variety of Flora and is a local recreation and picnic spot. It offers a magnificent view of Mt. Kanchendzonga (aka Mt. Kangchenjunga, the world's third highest peak).

DAY 09   GANGTOK - KALIMPONG

Morning after Breakfast, Check out & Go for a half day (04 hrs) sightseeing covering Jhakri Water Falls along with Droul Chorthen, Research Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday), Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (Closed on Sunday) and Flower Show. Afternoon transfer to Kalimpong (3937 Ft / 1200 Mts, 85 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs), Check in & over night at Hotel.

DAY 10    KALIMPONG - DARJEELING

You will need to carry valid Photo Id card (PAN cards not accepted) and two passport size photos each to get the permits. If you are taking a taxi from the stand, you will need to get your own permit from Sikkim Tourism Office at MG Marg or through a travel agent. I won't suggest you hand over your ID cards to an unknown taxi driver to organize the permit. Otherwise go through a reputed tour operator or your hotel who will take care of the permits. It needs to be done at least one day in advance.

DAY 03    GANGTOK SightSeeing Tour

TSANGU LAKE + BABA MANDIR + NATHULA PASS

A day excursion to Tsangu Lake (departure at 0900 to 0930 AM hrs) - situated at a height of 3,780 Mts. with an average depth of 50 ft. 43Kms in 3Hrs one way, with an average depth of 50 ft. The cool water of the Lake is perfectly attuned with the scenic beauty around.

Later proceed to  Baba Mandir - The shrine maid in memory of sepoy Harbahajan Singh.

From Baba mandir, You can additionally cover Nathula Pass which is further up and about 52kms from Gangtok and see the Indo Chinese border and the Chumbi valley through which the old Silk Route (i.e. the trade route between India and Tibbet) passes. Tsomgo lake and Baba Mandir combination takes about 5-6 hours round trip (including the time it takes to see the places). With Nathula it becomes a full day trip. 

Back to Gangtok and Overnight at Hotel. (Incase of Landslide or due to any other reasons if Tshangu Lake is closed then an alternate sightseeing will be provided)

DAY 04    GANGTOK Local SightSeeing Tour ( 15 Points To be covered)

After Breakfast, proceed to full day sight seeing tour of gangtok as below

1. Tashi View point - Excellent sunrise and Kanchenjunga viewing area.A great view point for watching the Kanchenjunga Snow Peaks on a clear day. Also an excellent place for sunrise view. 

2. Hanuman Tok - A Hanuman temple with a wonderful viewing area. 

3. Ganesh Tok - A Ganesh Temple with viewing lounge and open balcony. 

4. Bakthang Waterfall - Excellent wide water streams falling on a canopy of trees. The fall is located close to Tashi View point by the roadside and also offers great views all around. 

5. Enchey Monastery - Located on a hilltop, it's one of the oldest monasteries around. 

6. Flower Exhibition Center - Located near Gangtok town and at one end of The Ridge park, the center has great collection of flowering plants including Orchids (in season though). 

7. Handicraft Center - This is the building of Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom including a Sales emporium and a Museum showcasing many different handicraft items and artwork created by the local artists and craftsmen. 

8. Chorten Stupa - A famous Buddhist religious monument with a golden dome top which is visible from many places around Gangtok. 

9. Institute of Tibetology  - A world famous institute doing research on Tibetan language and culture, also has a great museum and library with rare and huge collections. It's located within a short walk from Chorten Stupa. 

10. Ropeway (Cable Car) - Great ride to view the whole of Gangtok, the valley and the peaks from far above. 

11. Ranka or Lingdum Monastery: About 45 minutes drive from Gangtok, set up on a hill and one of the most wonderful monasteries in east Sikkim. 

12. Ban Jhakri Waterfall: A great waterfall in a landscaped forest garden. The place is an excellent picnic spot for families. 

13. Rumtek Monastery: The most famous monastery with grand Tibetan architecture. It was designed after the original one in Tibet. An additional attraction here is the Golden Stupa. 

14. Nehru Botanical Garden: This is near Rumtek. There is a concrete pathway to take a stroll through the garden with many subtropical trees & plantations. There is a large nursery here for growing Orchids of many types. It also has a children's playground, swings etc. Overall a nice picnic spot. But for the purpose of this tour, you should not spend much time here as time will otherwise run out for the other sights. 

15. Shanti View Point: A viewing area near Rumtek. Spend a few minutes to watch the great views of Gangtok township at the opposite mountain. 

Night back to Hotel & relax

Day 5:  Gangtok- Lachen (107 km- 3 hours)

In the morning get transferred to Lachen. Halt at Chungthang for lunch and continue your journey. On reaching Lachen, check in at your hotel and relax.
Lachen is settled at an elevation of 2750 meters, amid humungous hill range. The town is the starting point of Green Lake Trek circuit. Lachen’s Thangu Festival (Yak race) is one of its greatest highlights, along with Chopta Valley and Kanchenjunga National Park. Lachen is home to a sprawling biodiversity which make it pleasing.
 

You can go for a heritage walk around Lepcha Village. Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 6:  Lachen- Gurudongmar Lake- Lachung (3 hour- 66 km and 113 km- 4 hour, respectively)

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed to Lachung and stopover at Gurudongmar Lake.Gurudongmar Lake is considered holy by the followers of Buddhism and Hinduism. Its name has been derived from Guru Padmasambhava.

Lachung, at an altitude of 9600 ft, has been regarded as “Most Picturesque Village of Sikkim”  The Himalayan Journal. Monastery, apple orchard and river streams are some of its striking feature. Rhododendrons and shrubs are scattered profusely around the area adding to the charm.In the evening, visit Lachung Monastery. This is the last Buddhist Monastery of India before Indo-China border. Mask dance of Lachung Monaster is very famous in North-East India.Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 7:  Yumthang Valley sightseeing & Back to Gangtok

Have your breakfast and proceed to Yumthang Valley. On your way, halt near a popular hot-spring that is known for having medicinal properties for skin diseases and problems.

Yumthang is located near Lachung Chu. In spring, it gets dotted with mélange of colorful flowers like rhododendrons, primulae and other alpine flowers. While with the arrival of winters thick sheet of snow covers the vicinity.In the evening you are free to explore Lachung. Have your dinner in the hotel and stay overnight..

DAY 08    GANGTOK - KALIMPONG
