Located in Al Habtoor City close to the Dubai Water Canal, La Perle will be the region’s first permanent live action stage show with over 450 performances per year. 7. The Crystal Lagoon

The first part of the luxury development in Dubai’s newest residentual area, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City. The centre piece  will be the world’s largest crystal clear lagoon, whose first stage is already operational. The pilot lagoon has been flooded and covers a surface area of 1.4 hectares at a depth of 2.45m. Once fully complete, the project will become a series of interconnecting lagoons forming the world’s largest manmade lagoon, complemented by a sandy beach at 237 meters in length.

8. The Dubai Eye / Bluewaters Island

This year Dubai will be getting the world’s tallest ferris wheel. 9. The Louvre

The Louvre Abu Dhabi has been delayed numerous times in the past but it seems that 2017 may finally be the year that this cultural attraction will throw opens its doors. Located on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, the Louvre will contain a multitude of artworks, all housed under some tremendous architecture designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. The latticed roof is already in place and the sea walls (forming part of the rumored underwater aspect) have now been flooded. With construction complete, it’s now only a matter of time until opening day.

Architect Frank Gehry’s design will feature exhibition galleries, research space, a conservation laboratory and a center for contemporary Islamic culture. The project has been delayed a number of times during construction and as yet, no exhibits have been confirmed… We’re still optimistic that the project will at least, break ground this year (fingers crossed).
