Borobudur Sunrise

Borobudur is best seen at dawn, when the air is fresh and full of birdsong. As the mist begins to lift, the sun scales the surrounding volcanoes and terraced fields, and highlights the stone reliefs and the many faces of Buddha. Glimpsing Borobudur for the first time is often a deeply felt emotional experience.

Borobudur Sunset

This tour can provide a different experience for those with longer visit at the Temple. In the day, visitors can be made to appreciate the historic and cultural context of this enduring monument. In this tour you will be given more time while passing when the sun is sinking from Borobudur Temple. Allowed time in this tours is up at around 6.30 PM and the tour will end with a tea time and light meals complemented.

Borobudur Museum

The Karmawibhangga Archaeological Museum lies just a short distance to the East of the temple itself and is easy to locate. Many fascinating exhibits are housed here, including approximately 4,000 of the original stones and carvings from the temple. These include a huge collection of Buddha statues, in a variety of conditions, including some with no head or arms. There are also a series of photographs documenting the temple’s history and restoration work, as well as the bomb damage suffered in 1985.

Prambanan Temple

Only a few kilometres East of Yogyakarta, Prambanan is an ancient Hindu complex incorporating hundreds of temples strewn across the plains. Prambanan is the biggest Hindu temple in Indonesia and also as one of UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage. Its central attraction is the elegant and dramatic Loro Jonggrang temple, with its many courtyards, enclosures, shrines and sculptures. In season, the Ramayana Ballet, Java’s classical dance theatre, is regularly performed at an outdoor theatre in Prambanan.
