Bali indonesia holiday packages

Gaze at rice terraces and mountains, explore ancient Hindu temples, meet exotic animals, or simply laze on pristine beaches. Bali is a country with all-round appeal. Whether you're a young family, lone backpacker, newlyweds, or retired, the sumptuous beauty of this country will lure you in. Prices can suit all pockets too. Famous for its nightlife and beaches, Bali is also a country rich in heritage and diverse wildlife. Explore all assets of this Indonesian island, or focus on one or two.

Bali's temples are a significant attraction. Bathe in koi carp-infested waters at the Gunung Kawi Temple, before retreating to one of its ancient meditation rooms hewn into the rock. The Ulun Danu Temple resides in one of Bali's most spectacular settings. Take a boat out onto Lake Bratan, and witness its misty mountain backdrop. Getting around Bali is easy enough if you drive. Car and scooter rentals allow you maximum freedom. Taxis are generally affordable, although less so when heading to and from overly touristy destinations. Temperatures remain pleasantly warm throughout the year. To avoid a saturation of rain, visit between April and October.

When to visit bali

The rainy season lasts from October til March with monsoon level downpours, not the best time for tourism. High season, which is Easter week and Chinese New Year, generally runs higher hotel rates during the beginning of September. The best time to find deals for Bali travel is between September and December, and the best time to visit during the dry season is April through October.

Bali indonesia tourist spot

Besakih Temple: Besakih Temple, known as Bali’s ‘Mother Temple’ for over 1,000 years, sits 1,000 metres high on the southwestern slopes of Mount Agung. Besakih is an artistic and unique complex that comprises at least 86 temples which include the main Pura Penataran Agung (the Great Temple of State) and 18 others.

Tanah Lot Temple: Tanah Lot must be the island's most iconic temple. This temple is perched on top of a huge rock, and surrounded by the sea with waves constantly crashing on to its base. As among Bali's most important sea temples, Tanah Lot pays homage to the guardian spirits of the sea. The temple serves as foreground to the most picturesque sunsets

Uluwatu Temple: Uluwatu is among the Bali's most important sea temples, perched on a cliff edge in the southwestern Bukit peninsula. Here you can catch dramatic sunsets such as at Tanah Lot, Uluwatu also features an open amphitheatre close by, where sunset kecak fire dances can be enjoyed. A monkey forest also borders the temple grounds.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces: Ubud is famous for its scenic expanses of rice fields. And the paddies with the best vantage point are just up north from the main Ubud centre, along the road of Tegallalang. Here, roadside stalls and art shops offering items and curios of all kinds line the street, as well as small restaurants offering diners great views.

Ubud Monkey Forest: On the fringes of the Ubud main centre, Ubud Monkey Forest is one of Bali’s several grey long-tailed macaque-inhabited forests and perhaps the best known. Also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal, and by its official designation as Mandala Wisata Wenara Wana, Ubud Monkey Forest is a place of scientific research as well as a site of spiritual and cultural aspects with temples sanctified by the local villagers deep within its grounds.

Ubud Art Market: The Ubud Art Market, locally referred to as 'Pasar Seni Ubud' is located opposite the the Puri Saren Royal Ubud Palace and is open daily. Here you can find beautiful silk scarves, lightweight shirts, handmade woven bags, baskets or hats; statues, kites and many other hand-crafted goods.

Kintamani and Mount Batur: Kintamani, located in the Karangasem Regency, is home to Mount Batur and the Caldera Lake. A favourite stopover on tour itineraries to this region is Penelokan, which aptly means 'scenic stopover'. The still-active Mount Batur volcano has erupted about 24 times since 1800, each time reshaping the surrounding landscape.

Bali Safari and Marine Park: Bali Safari & Marine Park is Bali’s largest animal theme park. The park is home to over 60 species, all roaming freely within their enclosures built to closely mimic their natural habitats. Bus safaris take visitors on tours 'around the world', and animal talent shows are held regularly. Aquariums holding exotic fish specimens are nearby.

Elephant Safari Park of Desa Taro: Bali's majestic elephants can be found at the Bali Elephant Safari Park located in the village of Taro, north of Ubud. This park offers visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with these peaceful pachyderms and to also go on village and jungle sightseeing expeditions while riding on top of these gentle giants.

Goa Gajah: Goa Gajah ‘Elephant Cave’ is an archaeological site of significant historical value that makes it a special place to visit. Located on the cool western edge of Bedulu Village, six kilometres out of central Ubud, you do not need more than an hour to descend to its relic-filled courtyard and view the rock-wall carvings, a central meditational cave, bathing pools and fountains.

What to do in bali Indonesia

1. Take in a gorgeous sunset: Bali is famous for its spectacular sunsets, so make sure to catch at least one while you’re there. Our favorite evening lookout spots are cliff-side temple Uluwatu (don't miss an evening kecak dance there), Tanah Lot, Rock Bar, and El Kabron. To make the most of your time, hire one of our knowledgeable guides and customize a day trip to see Bali’s highlights beforehand.

2.Explore local villages and admire Bali's famous rice paddies: Whether you're on a bike, in a land rover, riding a rickshaw or on horseback, Bali's rice paddies and quaint villages are a must-visit. We highly recommend a stroll through the picturesque rice terraces at Jatiluwih and a day trip to fascinating Tenganan for a peek at how the locals really live. Also, if you run into a local temple ceremony, definitely stop to watch the procession!

3.Indulge in classic local dishes: While Bali has got its fair share of high-end restaurants and beach clubs, don't miss tucking into mouthwatering local favourites like Babi Guling (spit-roasted pig), Ayam Betutu (slow-cooked spiced chicken in banana leaves) and Sate Lilit (spiced mince on lemongrass sticks). If you want to take these dishes home, join a cooking class with one of our expert teachers. Our favorite is an organic cooking class at a scenic farm in East Bali. Our guests say they taste the best food they've ever had!

4.Go on an outdoor adventure: If you find yourself restless after a few days at the hotel pool, get your adrenaline pumping with some outdoor adventure sports! White water rafting, elephant trekking and ATV beach rides are popular options, but our absolute favourite is canyoning, where you get to rappel down waterfalls and jump into natural rock pools. Our hosts will record you on their GoPro camera, so you get to show off to your friends afterwards.

5.Pick up a local craft: The Balinese are known worldwide for their exquisite craftsmanship, so make sure you pay a visit to Bali’s cultural hub - Ubud - and set aside a few hours to try making your own silver jewelry, wooden mask, fruit carving, stone carving, or even batik.

6.Dive the Liberty wreck in Tulamben: Whether you're an absolute beginner or an experienced Divemaster, make it a point to dive the iconic USAT Liberty wreck - an underwater maze of hidden rooms housing a mind-boggling array of fish and corals. If you're feeling extra-adventurous, hold your breath and learn freediving on this 3-day course.

7. Climb Mount Batur at sunrise: While setting the alarm for a 2am pickup might seem like a sacrifice, this unforgettable hike gives you the rare opportunity to witness a spectacular sunrise from the summit of an active volcano. As you admire the mist hovering over Lake Batur, you’ll kick yourself for ever having doubts about joining.

8.Catch some waves along Bali's best beaches:There's something for every skill level in this surfer's paradise, so enroll for a 1-day surf trip with local experts to visit stunning beaches like Dreamland beach and Padang Padang and you'll be riding those waves in no time. While you’re at it, don’t miss having a go at other exciting watersports like parasailing, flying fish, underwater scooters and more.

9.Turn up the romance: If you’re lucky enough to be with that special someone in Bali, don’t miss this romantic picnic in bed on a private beach (the desserts come with blindfolds!). You can even make your own couple jewelry or commemorate your special trip with a glamorous photoshoot in traditional Balinese outfits.

10.Experience authentic Bali: Get off the beaten track and hang out with seaweed farmers, build a kite like a local, or stay overnight with a family at a local village. Our most recommended must-do? A visit to these mind-blowing bamboo mansions near Ubud. Finding them is an adventure in itself, but you can thank us later!

Bali indonesia nightlife

Bali Loves the Night

Bali has long been a center for clubbing and going out at night. Nearly half a century ago, the island was a popular stop for hippies and surfers, and its relaxed and tolerant culture has allowed a thriving party scene to grow over the decades. Its closeness to Australia, Japan, Singapore, and other Asian centers has meant that today, Bali is a world-class destination for nightlife.

Bali has no enforced opening and closing times for clubs and discos allowing them to stay open till late, with the music sometimes still playing at sunrise. Although the real parties and action happens after midnight, going out might start early, with happy hours available in many restaurants, bars, and clubs, and sunset drinks are a daily pastime, whether in a luxurious beachside lounge in Seminyak or on a bench by the waves in Kuta.

Bali Girls & Bali Boys - Prostitution in Bali

Bali’s clubs and bars are a great place to meet people. An exciting mix of locals and tourists from around the world head to the discos and clubs to mix and mingle, making it easy to find a friend for the evening or something more long-term.

Visitors looking for company don't need to worry. Wherever you go in Sanur, Kerobokan, Seminyak, Legian and the Kuta area, there are many other single travelers, expats and locals who are looking to meet new people – day and night.

Sex for Money

In Bali's discos, clubs, bars and even pubs you'll meet also many young local girls, "kupu kupu malam" ("night butterflies" or working girls mostly coming from the poorer rural areas of Java) and young boys who compete with the females. All taxi drivers, security guards, street vendors will know the more "popular" karaoke bars and massage parlours in Kuta, Legian and Denpasar, along with the various "Houses of ill Repute" in narrow back lanes. These helpful people want to share their knowledge, whether you want to know or not. Anything you might be tempted to experience or consume is available. A silent but direct "massage?, young girls?, marihuana?" slips the tongue of many you might pass, while walking the streets of Kuta, Legian or Seminyak.

Prostitution

Travelers should keep in mind that prostitution is a big business in Bali, and that what may seem like innocent fun can sometimes turn into hassling or a demand for cash. Luckily, things are quite direct, so cautious visitors will easily be able to tell what they are getting themselves into in any situation. Note "Prostitution is illegal in Bali", however, like in many countries, everyone turns a blind eye, and prostitution is not necessarily a tourism related phenomena. Indonesian men who can afford it like to go to massage places regularly, asking for a massage with what they call: "Happy End". People don't get killed here in the red light district, Bali is not Mexico City, but some tourists wake up without their wallet or watches after their adventures, or with a transmitted disease that is difficult to get rid off and more difficult to explain once they are home.
