About Jodhpur
Jodhpur is the heart of Rajasthan, as it lies near the geographic center of the Rajasthan. Jodhpur which is also known as the Sun City of India is the second largest city in the state Rajasthan of India. In 1459, Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha. The city is named after its founder. He was Rajput chief of Rathore clan. Jodhpur was anciently known as Marwar. During British rule, Jodhpur was the largest area of any in Rajputana. Jodhpur which is also known as “Sun city” of India because it has bright and sunny weather throughout the year. It is divided into two parts one is the old city and another is the new city. The old city is surrounded by 10 km long wall. There are eight gates in the old city. The new cityof Jodhpur outside this walled old city. The city is also referred as “Blue City” because of houses painted by blue color around the Mehrangarh fort.
