How to reach Yumthang Valley :
The valley is located at a distance of 150 kilometers from the capital of Gangtok and one can reach the place from here using taxis and jeeps easily. It is also possible to travel from the town of Siliguri.
Yumthang Valley By Train:
If you are planning to travel by rail, the Jalpaiguri station that is located in the town of Siliguri is the best option. Train connectivity to the station is excellent and one can reach the place from cities such as Chennai, Guwahati, New Delhi and many others. Trains are affordable and second class sleeper tickets from Guwahati cost around RS 200. Taxis are available from here to Gangtok and also to the Yumthang Valley. They charge around RS 12 per kilometer for an SUV.
Yumthang Valley By Air :
The town of Siliguri has the only airport in the region and this is the best option for those who are planning to arrive by air. The Bagdogra Airport is situated outside the town and the place has good connectivity to several cities across the country. You can reach the town from cites such as Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Guwahati. There are three daily scheduled flights from the city of Kolkata. The best option is to travel to the town of Gangtok from the airport and hire a taxi from there.

Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary, Yumthang Valley:
Covering an area of around 43 square km, the beautiful Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary in the Valley of Yumthang in northern part of Sikkim is a popular tourist attraction of the place. Rich in natural vegetation, the sanctuary is renowned for having a wide variety of more 40 species of Rhododendron shrubs and trees. The sanctuary truly comes alive during spring season, when these trees bear colourful flowers, giving a wonderful sight to the onlookers.Along with Rhododendrons, the sanctuary houses different other species of trees like Potentillas, Saxifrages, Primulas, Aconites, Poppies, Gentians and many more. There is no accommodation available at the valley. Visitors stay at Lachung from where the valley is about an hour’s drive. Over the last few years several hotels and resorts have come up in Lachung. Facilities are clean and descent, but cannot be compared to other more upmarket destinations. This is primarily due to the inaccessibility of the destination. Your accommodation and food will be arranged as part of a package tour to Yumthang. There is government restriction on movement of tourists in North Sikkim as the area boarders Chinese Tibet. Hence you cannot book a hotel and make travel plans on your own. A hotel is booked only as part of a package tour.
