Uma Devi Temple ,Karanpryag : 

 

The Temple is a famous attraction of the city. A grand procession is held every 12 years in which the idol of Goddess Uma is taken out in a grand procession to Dimmer village, believed to be her maternal place. The temple holds great importance for the local people. Karnaprayag is named after Karna of Mahabharata. Karna worshipped Sun God here to acquire impregnable shield. After a cycle of twelve years, Goddess Uma's idol is taken out in a grand procession to her maternal place at Dimmer village. The temple holds esteemed importance for the locals.

One of the major attractions of Karanprayag, Karna Temple is resplendent with cultural heritage of the yore. Karna was a grand warrior as mentioned in the grand epic, The Mahabharata. Nauti Village :

Nauti Village, the opening point of the greatest and longest Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra which is done once in 12 years is said to be the home of Goddess Nanda. Bedni Bugyal :

 

 

It is a beautiful grassland showering tourists with invigorating views of the Himalayan peaks and their reflection on the still water of Bedni Kund. The trek to Bedni Bugyal starts from Mundoli. You can also trek upto Ali Bugyal and the mysterious Roopkund. The trek from Bedni Bugyal to Roopkund is moderate.

Chopta:

 

Chopta is popularly known as Mini Switzerland or the Switzerland of Uttaranchal. The number of tourists visiting Chopta has increased in recent years and the region has become popular vacation spot for adventure lovers and explorers. Tungnath is the highest temple of Lord Shiva situated only 3.5kms away from Chopta which should be covered on foot or by pony. Chopta is situated 72kms from Karnaprayag. The region showers tourists with natural beauteousness during winters.

 

Gopeshwar:

 

 

The view of Chamoli from Gopeshwar is very picturesque. The town of Gopeshwar is the administrative headquarters of the Chamoli district. There are sevaral ancient temples in Gopeshwar with great religious importance. The main attractions are the ancient temple of Lord Shiva, Vaitarni Kund and the splendid views of the Himalayas. Trek to Rudranath commences from Saggar which is situated 5kms ahead from Gopeshwar on Guptkashi – Gopeshwar road. Gopeshwar is situated 40kms from Karnaprayag.

 

Joshimath:

 

 

Joshimath is one of the four ‘math’ created by Adi Shankaracharya. Joshimath is the home of Shri Badrinath during winters. Joshimath is connected with Auli by highest cable car of Asia. Joshimath is situated at an elevation of 1,890mts above sea level. Do visit Kalpavriksha and Narsingh temple while a visit to Joshimath. It is situated 82kms after Karnaprayag.

 

Auli:

 

 

Auli is the most popular skiing and paragliding spot of Uttarakhand situated at an elevation of 3,050mts above sea level. Auli Ski slopes afford astounding and celestial views of the enchanting snow laden Himalayan range. Asia’s highest and longest cable car is situated in Auli connecting it with Joshimath. Auli will be hosting SAF winter games in 2010. Auli is also connected with motorable roads, situated 85kms from Karnaprayag.

Badrinath:

 

 

Badrinath is the most sacred Dham of India. It is located at an elevation of 3,133mts above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state. This Dham was established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 9th century. The deity of Badrinath temple is Lord Vishnu. The temple is situated on the right bank of the holy Alaknanda River. Every year millions of tourists and devotees visit this sacred place from May to October month. The temple remains closed during winter months as the region is prone to heavy snowfall. It is situated 127kms ahead of Karnaprayag.
