SHARJAH, the city of Culture is located a few kilometers away from Dubai. It is the third largest Emirate in the United Arab Emirates.

The city of Sharjah overlooks the Persian Gulf and contains some main administrative and commercial centers. A number of cultural institutions including several museums are also ;ocated in Sharjah.

Distinctive landmarks in Sharjah are the two major covered souks, reflecting Islamic design; a number of recreational areas and public parks such as Al Jazeirah Fun Park and Al Buheirah Corniche.

The city is also notable for numerous mosques.

Sharjah also encompasses some important Oasis areas, the most famous of which is the fertile Dhaid region, where a range of vegetables and fruits are cultivated.

The city has over 20 museums. Sharjah’s Ruler, His Holiness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad al Qasimi, established the Sharjah Museums Department, an independent department affiliated to the Ruler’s Office, in 2006.

Sharjah is also famous for Sharjah Cup, one of the most important Cricket Tournament used to take place. The Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium has hosted almost 200 cricket One Day Internationals, more than any other ground in UAE, and 4 Test matches.

Best Time to Visit Sharjah

Sharjah enjoys typical Middle Eastern weather and features two major seasons; warm, sunny & hot Summer and a mild Winter. Summers in Sharjah remains extremely hot and humid with the average high temperature of 40°C while the low hardly drops below thirties. On the other hand, winters in Sharjah are comfortable with average high temperature of 30°C. Although temperature hardly varies in Sharjah from season to season, nights remains cold and enjoyable for the visitors.

Summer months in Sharjah remains hot and humid, so tourists generally prefer winters than summer to visit this wonderful state of the United Arab Emirates. November to April remains colder than rest of the year, but temperature remains bearable for the tourist. So April to November months are considered as the best time to visit Sharjah.
