Day 1:- Arrival Kozhikode (Calicut):-
Arrive Calicut, and met by our representative at the airport or railway station, transfer and check into the hotel. Take rest and then sightseeing tour in the afternoon and visit (Kozhikode Beach, Thusharagiri , Mananchira Park). Come back to the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 2:- Calicut Visit:-
Take breakfast at early morning and proceed for Calicut sightseeing visit (Tali Shiva Temple, Kappad Beach, Sarovaram Biopark, and Planetarium). After enjoying our full day with Calicut sightseeing comes back to the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 3:- Departure Calicut:-
At early morning after breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed for The Mananchira Square is the heart of Kozhikode and surrounds the Mananchira tank which used to be the private bath of the Samuthiris. A small stone on the Kappad Beach marks Vasco da Gama's arrival in India 1498 AD.
Calicut Beach: There is an old lighthouse and two crumbling hundred-year-old piers running into the sea. Lions Park and the Marine Water Aquarium are other places to visit on the beach. The Beypore Beach, about 10 km away from Kozhikode, is also another popular tourist destination. There is a traditional boat-building yard in this area. In the evening, proceed to the airport/railway station as the trip ends.
By Air: Calicut International Airport is 26 kilometers from the city at Karipur. Regular domestic services are operated to major Indian cities. There are frequent international flights to the Middle eastern air hubs like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Salalah, Muscat, Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah, Sharjah, Bahrain, Doha and to domestic hubs Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai.
By Train: There is Calicut railway station which is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. Numbers of express trains and other passenger trains run regularly which offer better convenience to the tourists.
By Bus: The city has three bus stands. All private buses to the suburban and nearby towns ply from the Palayam Bus Stand. Private buses to adjoining districts start from the Mofussil Bus Stand on Indira Gandhi Road (Mavoor Road). Buses operated by the KSRTC drive from the KSRTC bus stand on Indira Gandhi Road. KSRTC Bus Stand Kozhikode is the biggest bus stand in Kerala. They provides luxury bus services with deluxe and semi deluxe facilities.
To visit Calicut September to May is the best. In Calicut the summer and the winter season is the enjoyfull time because of its suitable humidity and cold winds of the beaches.
Kozhikode Beach: A most romantic and peaceful beach in Kozhikode. Kozhikode Beach is a favorite haunt of sunset viewers. There are entertainment facilities are also available such as the Lions Park for children and the marine water aquariums are attractions for the tourist.
Thusharagiri: The highest waterfall among the three is Thenpara, which falls from a height of about 75 meter from sea level. The winding, narrow roads will take you to this beautiful waterfall and you would be accompanied by serenity and lush greenery throughout your journey. Thusharagiri offers endless scope for trekking, rock climbing and wild life sanctuary visits.
Mananchira Park: Mananchira is a man-made freshwater pond and aprk. It serves as a picnic ground to the locals and tourists alike. The square includes a public library, the town hall, an open air theatre, a music stage, a musical fountain and much more. The presence of temples, mosques and churches here reflect the cultural plurality of the region.
Tali Shiva Temple: The Tali Siva temple was one of the two Brahmanical royal temples patronized by the Zamorin. Tali Temple is considered to be one of the oldest and sacred temples in Kerala.The architecture of the temple is nothing less than grand, for the sanctorum is built in the shape of a chariot, with murals painted all over the walls. You can't help but wonder at the beauty of the paintings that have mythical creatures from Hindu epics. Revathi Pattathanam, an annual seminar that's usually held in October-November, sees scholars from world over converging for engrossing, insightful debates.
Kappad Beach: For the tourist it is one of the most charming of Kerala's beaches. A little stone monument is left at the Kappad beach to speak of its great historic importance. On the rocks nearby is a temple believed to be 800 years old. For the tourist, this little seafaring town is a haven. The best route to Kappad is along the backwaters. Unspoilt and uncrowded, the picturesque backwaters of Kozhikode offer a bewitching experience.
Sarovaram Biopark: Sarovaram is an eco-friendly development near the city of Kozhikode in the southern Indian state of Kerala, situated adjacent to Canoly Canal. The project has been developed with an eco-friendly theme and is located in an ecosystem consisting of wetlands and mangrove forests containing bird habitats. The construction has been done in traditional Kerala style. The Sarovaram project is being developed in stages, and the first few stages are complete and open to public. It is one of the more popular spots in the city to spend an evening, along with the beach and Mananchira Square.
Planetarium: Planetarium is the Regional Science Centre in Calicut. The Regional Science Centre has indoor and outdoor science displays. The entymology section, called Giants of Nature and the aquarium are the other popular attractions here. It offers extensive insight into the mysteries of the universe, the planets and the galaxies. Entertaining as well as informative, a sophiscated Zeus projector simulates the night sky.
Nightlife is all about enjoying and having a good time after the sunset. Nightlife in Calicut is the most enjoyable life for youngsters. Shopping in Calicut
Valiyangadi alias Big Bazaar, one of the major shopping centers located near the railway station is known for its wholesale of Kerala spices. Big Bazaar road and Court road are good places to purchase spices. Handicrafts items can be purchased from the supermarkets on Mavoor road and CSI Mananchira. Valiyangadi is also known for its wholesale trade of fresh, salted and preserved fish.
Sweets in Calicut
S.M. Street Sweet Meat Street or Mithai Theruvu is the busiest street in Kozhikode.The Street was lined with sweet meat (halwa) stalls. Today the street bustles with shops that sell anything and everything including the famed sweets and banana chips.
Revathy Pattathanam festival in Calicut
Annual assembly of Vedic scholars held since ancient times. The unique gathering is held at Thali temple during Malayalam month of Thulam (Oct-Nov). Vedic scholars compete for the position of Pattathanam during the seven-day event.
Malabar Mahotsavam in Calicut
Annual tourism festival organized by Kozhikode District Tourism Promotion Council in January. Classical dance, music and traditional arts performances showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. Kathakali, Mohiniyattom, Ottamthullal performances are also held.
